  • Nice video, buddy. I am considering buying this specifically for installing and testing Windows 8 developer preview.

Can you help me out with something? Since this tablet doesn't have a keyboard and if I don't have the dock, can I connect a USB keyboard to switch between options during the boot menu?

  • @raunak21m The tablet comes with a keyboard. If for some reason you don't have one though any keyboard should work fine. Also it would not surprise me if you could use the touch screen to switch between boot options given both the BIOS and the Windows installer work with the touch screen. The screen that says "Windows did not start normally, etc." as well I found works entirely with the touch screen.

  • @Shrimp4074 Oh so you mean that the keyboard dock is a standard accessory and is always included in the W500 package?

  • @raunak21m Yup, you got it.

  • @raunak21m Yup, you got it.

  • cool!, but i want to see somebody gaming with windows 8 :P

  • cool tablet. but do you know when the narwhal bacons?

  • First site I go to also. Upvote

  • @khushiv8487 If you want to force quit anything you just do Ctrl-Alt-Delete, which on the Iconia W500 is holding the windows key plus the power button. A lot of games let you do anything with the left mouse button, thus are fully touch compatible. (A good example is Civilization V, which you can even pinch zoom in and out with).

The resolution is 1280x800 but I don't think you'd want more than that on a ten inch screen.

  • Are you able to have to apps side by side on yours? Is the screen resolution high enough?

  • I tried making SSD my first boot device, then enabled the boot menu (F12) so I could select my USB flash drive to install. That didn't seem to work. I will try working with that some more. Thanks!

  • @DaKrazer Are you trying to install the 32-bit or 64-bit ISO? It supports both but I used the 32-bit. Also did you use Microsoft's tool to make the USB or did you follow a guide?

  • @Shrimp4074 Tried 32 bit. Currently trying 64-bit. I tried the microsoft tool once but got a cursor that repeatedly blinked. Used UltraISO and unetbootin. Did you use the microsoft tool?

  • @DaKrazer Yep I used the Microsoft tool. Hm, no idea what could be the problem.

  • @Shrimp4074 Got it working now. But had to use a USB-DVD drive. Thanks and enjoy!

  • @DaKrazer Probably was your specific thumb drive, given we have the same exact hardware otherwise. Glad you got it working though, it's pretty epic.

  • Great! I have been trying to install, but keep getting stuck on page "Select driver to install". Did you have the same issue?

  • @DaKrazer No, but I did have a problem where it wouldn't install after I selected the disk. I installed from a USB flash drive and the solution was to make sure the USB flash drive was NOT the first option in the BIOS boot order, make sure the SSD is the first option. Are you trying to install from a flash drive or an external HDD/DVD drive?
