Ok, here's the story. For the film Con Air, they wanted "How Do I Live" to be the theme song. LeAnn recorded the song first, and the producers didn't like it, so they had Trisha record it (at the time, she didn't know that LeAnn had already recorded it). Trisha's was released first, but Curb, understanding that they had a huge hit on their hands, released LeAnn's version the next day. So...Leann recorded it first; Trisha released it first. Trisha got all of the awards

With the way vocals are remixed on CD's in this era, when LeAnn recorded "How Do I Live" for her album she released it on they had to remix her, because she has a VERY unique, and very hard to come by style of singing. She can sing soprano, and alto types of singing. She can go low or high, which over the years has most likely gotten her to practice vocal dynamics to where she won't screw up the lyrics completely when she says "How do I" she says "How da hiii..." instead. It's really complicated

Actually, Leann had the original version and it was pitched to Con Air with Leann singing it. The people who make the decisions liked the song, but not Leann. They thought she was too young. They decided they need someone older for the album so they gave it to Yearwood. Which pissed off Leann's group. So they decided to do the song as more of a cross-over versus a straight country song.
