Tell them to search on youtube for videos like these for the evidence. Print out photos of these poor animals being abused and show them. WE have to stop this, it won't go away on it's own. Hey, the only reason they "look after the elephants 24 hrs a day" is so that they can make money out of them. The elephants are in a poor state of welfare becasue they cannot carry out any of their repitoir of activities in that kind of confinement. Here is an even better way to make sure nothing wrong occurs, leave them in their natural habitat. How is this any different from human trafficing? These aren't seals or horses. I was a teacher for the Ringling Circus and never observed any abuse. I love animals, and think of myself as an impartial observer. I wouldn't have stayed with them if I had ever seen abuse, even minimal abuse. I saw the opposite. Animals taken care of with great care, concern, and love. The difference between a trained dog and an elephant is that dogs have been bred for millenia to work with humans and to have contact with humans. Elephants have not, and are far more dangerous and they also suffer psychologically when in capitivity. If you don't believe me, look up Tyke the elephant and you'll change your mind.
Dogs have been domesticated for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Elephants have not. Elephants are wild animals whether they're bred in captivity or not. That's like saying just because you buy a baby lion online and love it, feed, etc. it'll be trained and NOT eat you when hungry.
I sincerely believe that many of the statements are not 100% truthful. I have been behind the scenes at Ringling Bros for countless hours as a security guard for an arena and have never witnessed any abuse. The animals get much better care than I expected.

LOVE IT! Went to see the Ringling Brothers Circus today, the elephants were great and fun to watch. Those elephants love doing tricks because it makes everyone happy. After watching this, I want to go to the circus again and again. I'll never stop taking the family to the circus, and to whoever suggested non-animal circuses, that's probably boring for the kids.

this isn't even a PETA video they aren't even inclued among the three organizations mentioned at the beginning who are involved in the lawsuit. People have something against PETA, and whenever their name is on anything, they get bitter. Heck, I'm a vegetarian and I live down the street from the PETA headquarters so peopl are constantly references them when they talk to me, and I don't like them. that's nature, duh. they're a dominant species within their niche, and nature will take its course. being in the "cooshy" circus has no evolutionary purpose, as they are out of their niche and unable to adapt and evolve as they would in the wild. so yeah, in the event that these elephants were released, they would likely be in trouble. But had they never been in captivity, they would have immunities, they would have found ways to adapt, and they would help the evolution of their offspring.

I'm still waiting for the video of some Ringling employee mercilessly beating on an elephant and enjoying it in some sinister way as if the sole purpose of the circus is to provide trainers with an opportunity to abuse animals. You should focus your attention on abused women and children; invalids and psychiatric patients who are abused 24/7 in homes and 'hospitals' across the country. Hey, the only reason they "look after the elephants 24 hrs a day" is so that they can make money out of them. The elephants are in a poor state of welfare becasue they cannot carry out any of their repitoir of activities in that kind of confinement. Elephants have minds, they are sentient and self aware in a similar way to us, all though that is difficult to prove, there is mounting evidence to say its true. Treatment of animals with this amount of capabillity to suffer is sickening.

Here is an even better way to make sure nothing wrong occurs, leave them in their natural habitat. How is this any different from human trafficing? These aren't seals or horses. These are massive animals that were not meant to be stuffed into rail cars or trailers for days on end. Seeing stuff like this takes all the fun out of my childhood expierence of the circus.

I'm definately disgusted at the unnecessary use of animals - especially for "entertainment". How anyone could possibly think these elephants are "happy" really aren't aware of what the nature of these animals is. They are herding animals and range close to 60 miles per day in the wild. Keeping the chained and cooped up for endless hours on a daily basis is cruel- never mind the other physical abuses. We're better than this. We don't "need" animals to entertain us. Empty the cages. I feel so ashamed to have gone to their show. For a few minutes of entertainment they are treating these Amazing majestic animals so badly.

this to me, is equivilent to keeping slaves. Just because animals cannot verbalize does not mean that they like this kind of treatment. We take elephants from thier families in the wild and use them for our entertainment. Its...just...WRONG

I was a teacher for the Ringling Circus and never observed any abuse. I love animals, and think of myself as an impartial observer. I wouldn't have stayed with them if I had ever seen abuse, even minimal abuse. I saw the opposite. Animals taken care of with great care, concern, and love. I know PETA people are extremists and don't even want animals kept as pets. You're probably a conspiracy nut too

wow. pasionate opinions back and forth. Thats what they are opinions and everone has a right to one. But what I dont understand is what is the difference between a trained dog or any other trained animal for that matter. As long as they are loved by their owners and they are healthy thats all that matters. There is nothing wrong w/ being passionate about your opinions but is it really nessesary to be mean when voicing those opinions?

The difference between a trained dog and an elephant is that dogs have been bred for millenia to work with humans and to have contact with humans. Elephants have not, and are far more dangerous and they also suffer psychologically when in capitivity. If you don't believe me, look up Tyke the elephant and you'll change your mind.

yeah but these elephants are not loved they are trained by getting hit and by getting yelled at for doing the slighets thing wrong
they are kept in small pens
they cannot get out for a couple of months
then they get bored and start rocking
which can lead to death of the elephant
and there is already not alot of elephants in the wild we dont need to loose anymore

Dogs have been domesticated for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Elephants have not. Elephants are wild animals whether they're bred in captivity or not. That's like saying just because you buy a baby lion online and love it, feed, etc. it'll be trained and NOT eat you when hungry.

I sincerely believe that many of the statements are not 100% truthful. I have been behind the scenes at Ringling Bros for countless hours as a security guard for an arena and have never witnessed any abuse. The animals get much better care than I expected.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who are still clueless enough to go to circuses where they use our fellow animals to perform silly, degrading, unnatural stunts for mindless twits, and those of us who would like nothing better than to see all nonhuman animals released from circuses to rescue and conservation centers, and laws passed banning their use in any form of 'entertainment'.
Please SPREAD THE WORD; tell everyone you know how cruel circuses are to with animals. Don't go!

I was a teacher for the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus and would not have stayed if I had ever seen any signs of abuse. I saw the opposite. All of the animals were very well cared for and never in chains or beaten. I think PETA people are probably good, well intentioned people, but will never be happy until the day when animals are never eaten or used in any way by people: that's part of their extreme policy. The animals are in good care.

then please explain to us the swaying, the deaths of tigers during a change in location, the bloody hole you can see CLEARLY in the clip......an elephant's skin is as delicate as a human's skin so explain to me how a person can swing a bullhook like that and not manage to puncture ANY skin....no matter what was said during the interview, a bullhook is FAR from dull

Read Sara Gruen's book WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. You'll fall in love with Rosie ... and want to help ALL elephants!! They are beautiful, bright and loving animals. And do not deserve to be treated brutally. Yes, you can train some elephants without a bull hook. But certainly not all elephants. Therefore, most elephants ARE abused.

LOVE IT! Went to see the Ringling Brothers Circus today, the elephants were great and fun to watch. Those elephants love doing tricks because it makes everyone happy. After watching this, I want to go to the circus again and again. I'll never stop taking the family to the circus, and to whoever suggested non-animal circuses, that's probably boring for the kids.
