I have a pixie bob (Kay) and she is amazing. We also have a DSH cat (Dime) as well and the two of them get along very well. Kay is a second generation pixie bob and has the long tail. Too cute for words and they are amazing. And perfect in everyway.
Do only pixie bobs fetch? Because my cat learned how to fetch in like 3 days, she loves it. I am not sure what she is mixed with though. She is a domestic short hair, but I have no clue what her possible mix could be since we found her drowning in a creek.
i just got an american bobtail. whats the difference between the american and the pixie? didn't think an akita would get along with a cat. good choice in animals.
@faallingleaf - it won't let me post the site address, but if you google Pixie Bobs vs American Bobtail, there is a site at attitudeacres1 that talks about the difference. Pixie loved Niki, our akita. We lost our dog to cancer this year so have just obtained another Pixie kitten, but so far, Pixie does not embrace it like she did the dog!
@MrDittoDitto I'm sure there are a lot of good cats in the world, but now that I've had a Pixie Bob, I'll probably never have anything else. They're like everything good in a cat and a dog combined and just seems to be a good fit for us. BTW, there are Pixie Bobs that are born with tails. But, I would only buy from a reputable breeder because lately everyone with a grey tabby cat thinks they have a Pixie Bob. You just have to be around one to believe it.
I'd love to have a pixie bob. I remember as a young child the family had a Siamese cat, and I had one of these plastic toys that launched a saucer in the air. The cat would go always go after it and bring it back to me. People need to stop treating cats like a hamster in a tank and walk their cats outside if it's a safe area.
@101loverofgod I didn't train her. I just encouraged what she did naturally. The breed is known for it's interaction with the owner. She takes every step I take, follows me like a dog. Chatters at me. And she's involved in anything I do whether it's cleaning, playing guitar, computer, whatever....she's right there. LOL
I am thinking about getting a pixie bob but I'm a dog person. I can't have dogs in the building I live in, so the pixie looks like a good choice. Are pixie's scratchy and fight their owners like the other cats?
Pixie is very gentle, playful, and attentive. I always treat her with love & respect and she returns it 10 fold. She has all the good traits of a dog & none of the bad (I love my dog too). She scratches the furniture, but I'm not going to declaw her. I trim her nails and I like her better than my chair, so we deal with it. I think Pixies need more attention than your normal feline because they're very social and want to be with you more than most cats. Wouldn't trade mine for the world!!
@Pitbulllover1able She lives in the same house with an Akita. They get along great! Though sometimes I think she considers herself a little "above" the canine mentality. LOL
i have a pixie-bob. he acts like a mother to my other cats. they are really freindly, but being part bob-cat they act rough but they won't hurt you as long as your nice to it.
@snookohead123456 Mine will growl if she gets one of the parrots feathers and thinks you're going to take it away. But if you pick it up, she's not agressive at all. She's very gentle with us when we play.
No,they don't have heavy dander. Just be sure you get your Pixie from a reputable breeder because some people are adding other hybrid cats to the mix. The drawbacks? None for me! Pixies are like little dogs. They wag their tails, they follow you around, they talk to you (like a chirping sound) when they are bored and want to play. They are athletic and fast, intelligent and faithful. They are clean and need the litter box cleaned every day. By far, the best cat I've ever had. Hope this helps.
How he cost?

This seem like a fun breed of cat! I bet they'd do well in cat agility.

They seem to be very dog like. I bet my cardigan corgi/begale puppy, Socrates, would adore them.
