Thank you for a path you took away from a too complicated one adopted by huge companies and expensive equipment. You reminded me of my first soft box I created. Ammar Keylani Photography
@chisler26 Yes you can. But it depends on how you position them, and they won't always respond as slaves, unless the infrared sensor is facing directly at the camera flash. Additionally, when you stack so much stuff for extreme macro, you could also get a shadow from the gear generated by the on-body flash.
@GTOOtt I NEVER said you need expensive gear. I said, if you have the money, go for it.
But I'm part of a community composed of VERY talented and renown macro photo experts (look it up, macro photo junkies on facebook), and the guys in there with mt-24's and r1c1's really take advantage of their gear to produce some of the best macros I've ever seen.
Again, you can get really cool stuff with alternatives (like I'm proving here), but a good photographer and pro-gear is a win win situation.
will wireless flashes work with the nikon d3000? I know it doesn't have internal wireless system, but if i put a transponder thing like that on the top?
Nice setup on a budget...but just so you know you don't have to be a pro to own pro gear. It all depends on your budget and what you are willing to spend, and the quality of picture you are after.
@sebo2001 hahahaha you think I haven't tried the "deal" strategy man?
From her point of view, a "great deal" on something considered unnecessary is still money not to be spent :D
Nah, she's not that bad (she's actually awesome!). She really does support my passions, in fact. I'm having a show this upcoming may for my Water Sculpture photos (see my other videos), and she's supported me 100% of the way. Most of the time, not spending the money is a mutual decision, times are tough man.
Oscar, do you think the whole rig would be stable if İ were to use 2 sb-600 flashes? Does it move or shake when you are trying to walk with the camera??
@nasriozel BTW, Xotopro also sells a neat bracket system, you could buy the whole setup as well, still much cheper than the R1-C1
Look up in Amazon: Xotopro Complete System Package of the QMM1 Twin Flash Mount. ($350 for the whole ssetup, much better quality than my setup for about 4 times the price, not 10 times like the R1-C1)
@freestylefilmsinc Like I mention on my video. Take a look at my gallery and decide for yourself (or the sample pics I took during the making of the video).

Couldn't you trigger these flashes with your on camera flash?

This looks like a CHEAP weather station with the huge adaptor and enormous flashes.... LOL

@SuperEcho777 :) Could you reference the weather station you're talking about so I can get the joke?

You are so wrong when you say you have to buy expensive gear to get good pictures. Talent or imagination is all you need.

@nasriozel I would not recommend this with sb-600. They're very large and heavy.
Not only would the "C" brackets not hold them up, the receivers would not be safe either.
I would avoid risking already expensive flashes this way.
Compare: sB-600 $300 vs NEWER mini slave flash $7 ($600 total vs $14 total).
If you want to try this, I recommend buying those cheap generic flashes with the rest of the gear.
OR...
You could try the Xotopro Tumax TTL Twin Flash Set, look it up in Amazon.
