@Naturalist1979 that's not his 'style', that's what he does in this video since he's constrained by time. Zizek is pretty actually very thorough and methodical.
when he does what you're describing he's indicating that he is building off already-established concepts. he specifically stated that the concepts he didn't have time to thoroughly explain here could be found in his books.
i would argue that most animals do need education; mammals in particular; if an animal is born in an environment foreign to its nature and/or without its parents/family group, that animal will fail to acquire lifeskills necessary for survival. for example, if you take an elephant and care for it after it is orphaned, it is highly unlikely it will be reintroduced to its environment, particularly if the help of other elephants is not available. animalsdo learn, in my opnion
@cruiscinlan But the animal living outside of its natural habitat will still react based on its instinct. Just because you raise a monkey in the house doesn't mean you can teach it to sit at the table and eat with a knife and fork. An animal that hasn't had contact with its natural environment cannot be 'taught' by humans how to go back into that environment nor can another animal come around and teach it to survive. Either its natural instincts plus luck are enough or not.

What an interesting rhetorical style: just vaguely suggest something and continue with "and so on and so on".
