  • Bueller..... Bueller......

  • Don't forget to strop with leather/newspaper after the fine stone!

  • He should be making clean swipes accross the entire blade each time instead of small incriments. If you do it the way he is doing it you are much more likely to have inconsistencies in the sharpness of the blade from handle to tip. Watch any sharpening method weather it is a stone or one of these contraptions smooth broad strokes give best results. IMO

  • He sounds like Ben Stein...

  • how does it not sharpen a blade over 5 inches i sharpen blades leading to 10 inches

  • so this won't sharpen anything over 5 inches?

  • I had one of these, scratched my blades to hell with that clamp. I stopped using it, its a bad system. I freehand belt sharpen now, works much better, requires some skill but works much better.

  • @PRSpl4yer

Just put a piece of fabric in between the blade and the clamp..?

  • @zanuha I usually try felt but the issue is the knife tends to slip when sharpening. They should have provided the unit with some grippy rubber "socks" to go over the metal portions that grip the blade.

  • @PRSpl4yer

I call BS on this one.....the clamp is aluminum....are you knife blades plastic?

  • @thinshavings No but when you put enough pressure on metal, even soft metal will scratch harder ones. This sharpener left some pretty nasty marks on my Benchmade Nitrous Blitz :/

  • @PRSpl4yer just put some blue painters tape on your blade first

  • My brother has that kit. I tried sharpening one of my knives and found that the smallest angle can't be used, as the stone hits the aluminum clamp. It might work for a really wide (tall?) blade, but for a typical knife (and certainly for the fillet knife he mentioned) the narrowest angle is unusable.

  • I have recently bought some tops knives like the smoke jumper which is 1/4" thick and very wide 2 1/2" and is 6 1/2" long. Would I be better off with the Spyderco Sharpmaker?

  • write Lansky Knife Sharpening System and watch the official advertisement and see that you're not supposed to stroke the knife like that cos its not even

  • The product seems okay, but the guy using it looks like he is seriously messing up the knife.

  • It looks a bit unwieldy with that small folder - imagine trying to sharpen a large survival knife on it. I will stick with my Spyderco thanks.

  • Beuler, Beuler, Beuler.

    Good product but terrible rep

  • I ordered this from TheBladeShop more than a month ago. No delivery yet.

  • i was given one of these by one of my SF buddies who used it extensively over seas. he gave it to me about 5 years ago and it is the only knife sharpening tool i use. between me and him using it, we have probably used it at least 1k times and it keeps goin. i would recommend it to anyone!

  • Sounds like Egon from ghostbusters.

  • He sounds quite excited about his product!

  • This video was taken at the end of the last day of a 4 day trade show.. We are happy he took the time to do the video for us.

  • @GearBuyersGuide i figured it must have been at the end of the show. doing that demonstration hundreds of times a day
