  • This is why they need something to protect their throats. It may be rare but it is something where if it happens it will most likely kill someone.

  • @CurruptedMartyr goalie helmets have clear neck protectors now...

  • If the slit was 1/8 of an inch higher (3mm) (0.3cm) then the blade would have cut the jugular vain and he would have been dead within 2 minutes. He had some stitches and played 10 days later. FACT.

  • did he die

  • @jjddhh112233 no he lived the doctor that rushed on the ice saved his life.

  • @PINKY17901 it wasnt a doctor it was a former army medic that served in NAM, Jim Pizzutelli if you ask that stuck his hand down his neck to stop the bleeding

  • WHEN HE DIE

  • @HIGAFULL He didn't die.

  • i was watching this on tv not too long ago and it was a vietnam veteran medic that actually came in and stuck his finger in malarchuks corraded artery to stop the bleeding and that's what saved his life. what a hero that guy is!!

  • The buffalo skater's skate went up as soon as Malarchuk went down. It took me a while to see how it happened but yeah.

  • No he survived it

  • from what all you guys said about him this guys is epically hardcore

  • I am convinced that Clint Malarchuk cannot die and is immortal. First of all there is this gruesome injury, then a few years ago, he survived a hunting accident where he ended up shooting himself in the chin! Talk about HARD CORE.

  • ok i thought i wuz gonna pass out when i saw this

  • Thank God he survived.

  • Have neck guards*

  • This happened on this day, and if it werent for him being injured like this, (btw he survived) then goalie masks would hh

  • What the fuck happened? was it the other guys stick that hit him? cause i didnt see a blade near his head

  • @ScatmanScotty91 I think that the skate that cut him was obstructed by the Buffalo skater.

  • MAN THEY NEED MORE PROTECTION IN FUCKIN HOCKEY, they need to stop the toughs part and put on some fuckin protections

  • WTF!!!! Whers his neck guard

  • @KelticKid747 This happened in 1989 and protection like that was not required yet.

  • He got cut by the other guys skate on the neck obv.

  • No he didnt die. There was another incident exactly like this at the same place 19 years after this. There was only one death in the NHL on ice and the dude Masterson or something two guys checked him and he fell back head first and got a hemorage that was in 1968 when they didnt wear helmets.

  • @KendraCena Another recentish one was Richard Zednik. Florida Panthers vs Buffalo, crazy that the two times it happened it happened in Buffalo...

  • O ma god! :( I hope he is all right

  • Oh god. Why did I watch that?!

  • did he die

  • @zonnic1 he got his throat slit after another player clipped him with his skates

  • Oh I get it lol, no it doesnt look nasty XD

  • I dont get it, what happend? and this doesnt even look nasty.

  • @zonnic1 You should see pretty clearly that theres is blood, ALOT

  • oh my god he survived that wtf!!!!! what a lucky guy to survive something like that

  • I have a strong stomach, i mean i watch horrible things happen i'm a peramedic but honestly this, i can never get over.

  • @master45wall yeah me too

  • @master45wall I know, I'm going to be an EMT, and this still makes my stomach turn over

  • The Army medic reached inside his neck and pinched off the vessel until doctors were able to suture it. These are the kinds of people our world needs.

  • Thank god the retired Army medic was there to save his life. :(

  • OMG Thats sad. At least he's fine. I feel kind of dizzy

  • Horrible accident that one, He lives and this day he is a goaltending consultant at Atlanta Trashers.

Why the hell these couple of weirdos talk such crap i have no idea, like he committing suicide cause he couldnt get over the incident :D yea right.

horrible accident, cool hes still here!

  • Folks, I believe the R.I.P,s are not because he died after this incident, but because he later, sadly, committed suicide. He never got over this incident, and nightmares about it were frequent. GOD rest his soul.

  • @galenmark He's still alive.

  • @RyderRocks73 why the hell would you provide such an elaborate lie?? The man is still alive...works with the Thrashers.

  • @rdazzle4shazzle Haha, I know. You must have meant to reply to gakenmark's comment.

  • @RyderRocks73 shit.. sorry bro. lol yes that was definitely for gakenmark

  • @galenmark, they think he tried to commit suicide but he didnt die. So no, i dont think thats why people say RIP.

  • @galenmark He's didn't commit suicide, he had an incident in 2008, but is alive

  • Comment removed

  • @grimsoul1 he lived.

  • Chill he survived and I think he kept playing. If I he did I doubt it was pro but hey I don't know. I know for a fact he lived though.

  • Now THAT'S hardcore. Fuck........

  • R.I.P

  • Morons, he survived

  • @Bregowald Ummm, he's still alive.... did you even see this in 1989?

  • @dakinjor he could have easily died from this he's lucky he didn't so how does this make anyone retarded

  • Lol people are Retarded He died of old age ( he might even still be alive idk) HE DID NOT DIE FROM THIS ACCIDENT

  • @Dakinjor Yeah, hes still alive. He got very lucky. What I read was if he got cut just 1/8 of an inch higher he would have died. Also if he was at the other end of the ring he would not of made it to the locker room & also would have died. A Vietnam medic pinched off the bleeding till doctors arrived.

  • Are people still seriously thinking he's dead? God you people are retarded...Read my highest rated comment!

  • @PhoenixDog2160

    show off with thumb ups!

  • malarchuk was saved by a former army medic named Pizzutelli

  • Ok im gunna throw up DX

  • It's official. Hockey is the roughest sport in America. Even Football can't compete.

  • @LonesomePaleRider true man trueeeeeeee dangerous sport ever

  • man i love hockey ive played it my whole life but this shit is stuff u dont want to happen when u see urself losing that much blood thats fucking scary especially from the neck

  • Dude that sucks

  • I believe that this guy is a hockey legend for what he went through if u can take a slash like that and play 11 days later you are the toughest player around i dont care what other people say that it wasnt a hard problem to fix i'd like to see them get there throat cut and see how they like it

  • oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry

  • Rough day.

  • i hate how all the player stand there watching.

id be the first one there holding his neck to help.

    good thing he lived tho

    thats some scary shiit

  • @Xx2Dirty4YouxX

Dude when something that bad happens it's best all the players stay the fuck back and let the medics slide in and do their thing. If you watch the full video right after that ending part a medic comes running in doing his thing. Don't mess with shit like that unless u know what you're doing.

  • @THUGENSTEIN the medics dont come on the ice, i was watching the game live and he skates to the side, the medics rarly come on, like when i snapped my collor bone, dislocated my shoulder and my knee cap in a final, i had to skate the bench (well... kinda, painful but just managed) for the paramedics the aid me.

  • @THUGENSTEIN Your comment is idiotic. When somebody is essentially bleeding out, you don't just stand there. At the very least, somebody should have gotten down with him to try and assess the situation better and start waving wildly for help. The referees were more concerned with the other players involved to the point that they barely noticed he was bleeding out. That's called incompetence.

  • @StupidIdiot12345 it took ten second for the doctors to get on the ice.

  • @StupidIdiot12345 Your comment certainly lives up to your username you dumb fuck.

  • @Xx2Dirty4YouxX I would lick the blood off his neck and ground. Vedy vedy gord.

  • actually 7 ppl fainted, 2 people had a heart attack and some teammates threw up on the ice

  • omg, thats disgusting!

    good thing he lived

  • Last year he shot him self with .22 through the chin in the mouth.... and survived that too.... and interesting story none the less wikipedia him it is an interesting read at least

  • good think hes ok ine of the videos he was talking about it and he was ok so thats all that matters lol

  • Not only did he not die...He finished the season about 11 days later.

  • RIP

  • @Bregowald dude he didnt die

  • RIP :(

  • RIP... :(

It's so sad... this guy was one of my favorite hockey players. I knew everything about him. Sad that his life had to be cut short so early in his career .... :(

  • @Bregowald dude.. he is still alive

  • @Bregowald He lived dude

  • @Bregowald he is still alive

  • RIP

  • @PhoenixDog2160 thats ashame mate id uken hit ma selph if thathapend to me :|xxx

  • @PhoenixDog2160 he DIED??

  • @xx24carfan4xx it said he did not die

  • @PhoenixDog2160

    THANKS

  • no,no,and no. 2 fans fainted thats all.

  • i heard 9 fans fainted and 3 had heart attacks and 8 players vomited on the ice when that happened and my dad was watchin that when i happened and he said he almost puked

  • No he is not dead, his Wikipedia page shows him as alive, and I'd believe them more than you.

    Wikipedia search : "Clint Malarchuk"

  • hes alive and fine lol

  • r phew i didnt think that it was true but the internet is full of lies lol

  • This horrible accident is embedded in my memory. I was flying a USAF C130E out of Pope AFB at the Yuma AZ proving grounds the evening of the game. I was dropping SEALS for 8 hours doing HALO jumps/training. We got back to ops and 20 seals were white as ghosts. They were watching Sportscenter and they were showing this accident. Everyone just stood around watching, I tought for sure he was going to bleed out before anyone would decide to help him. Glad he survived.

  • man this is the worst accident i ever seen!!! but he wosent the only one who hade this kind of an accident becouse Richard Zednik hade the same accident

  • i heard he died...

  • no he didnt

they guy that ran on the rink used to be in the army or something , put his fingers into clint's neck and squeezed the artery to slow the bleeding (i think thats the story) but he's still alive anyways

  • yeah, he was back at practice a few days later. :)

  • Comment removed

  • how much fuckin blood was he losing????? it was pissing out!!!! as if it takes that long to help when someones throat has been cut by a fuckin ice skate???? was he ok after that???

  • it took the guy 15 seconds to get to him

  • ahahaha noone gave a fuck, "This dude needs a red card...oh maybe we should kinda help this dude".

  • That's messed up nobody helped him for a while!

  • Well what can they do about it. If you don't have any experience and have no idea what you're doing you could do more damage than good. I doubt any of his team on the ice knew how to stop the bleeding properly.

  • wow that must have been super scary for him

no one even payed him any attention for a while to

  • ou shit :S

  • woah i dont wanna play hockey anymore

  • This literally turned my stomach...I guess some of the players were puking on the ice after seeing this. It's a miracle this guy survived.

  • i know, luckly the doctor knew what he was doing

  • omg that is scary man

  • omg that's soooo scary! i never want to go ice skating ever again

  • Thank God he survived.

  • i mean. uh.. yes.

  • no he didn't.

  • yea umm thats y he was on a tv show called sports science about a year ago to talk about the injury, they had a ghost on there show

  • did he live??

  • yeah he did

  • Comment removed

  • terrible...

  • That was extremely harmful!!!

  • i saw sumthin bout this on that sport science show. the coach reached into his necked and pinched together his jugular to stop the bleeding otherwise he wudda been dead in like 2 minutes

  • brutal that would suck

  • omg thats disgusting, especially at 0:37 you see the blood squirting out !

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • That's friggin' brutal.

  • boss hit

  • ouch!!

  • I was there! There was blood everywhere and junk.

  • great fucking observation your retard, im sure no one else figured that out

  • fuck you dude, all i said was "i was there" and you go all asshole on me.

  • All that dude was saying was that your comment was super insightful!

  • He didn't die the coach rushed up to him and put pressure on the wound the coach was in a war i forgot which but he knew how to heal someone.

I also got a question did the player hit the goalie's arthrity?

  • no skate even touched his throat when he got cut

  • you are a fucking retard you can clearly see that it was the Buffalos guy who did it

  • yeah wen he was falling back his skate came up and slit his throat

  • ye he just cut it on the ice...dickhead

  • oh so his throat just what, just Burst?

  • the skate severed an artery

  • i know I was being sarcastic towards some other guy

  • ok good

  • i was about 12 when this happened. this injury is the worst i have seen in my life.

  • that happened to another guy too didn't it, how did it happen though it's all so fast was it a skate that caught him whent he two guys hit the net???

  • he was back in the net 10 days later

  • did he die?

  • No its a miracle he survived, 300 staples to close up his neck and whats even more amazing is that the blade didnt hit the jugular.

  • yes it did, it missed the cartoid artery

  • that was not funny ;( shit.. the blood just spilled out..

  • you know how scary it'd be if you look down and see a big puddle of blood and knowing its yours, and its coming from your frigging throat. Geeze, glad he survived.

  • he was 1/8 of an inch away from death, and actually the buffalo medical crew are one of the best in the leagues cuz one of the sabres trainers also saved richard zedniks neck who was sliced last season

  • malarchuks trainer used to be in vietnam, so he knew wat to do. he pinched the inside of clints neck, and stopped the bleeding until the docters could stitch it up

  • what the fuck no one even came to help him the assholes

  • What the hell are talking about The trainer was there in seconds. Watch the full video before judging dumbass

  • um to me it looks like they go straight to the other two guys fuckwit and leave him and untill one of his teammates come over.

besides no need to get so agro over my comment lol :S

ohhhh yeah and don't "judge someone" and call them a dumbass buddy (Y)

  • God damn total rapeage there

  • its hard to tell what happenend

  • the trainer stuck his fingers in the cut and actually pinched the artery shut. nasty but it saved him

  • he wouldve actually diesd tht night but one of the trainers quickly came to slow down the blood

  • For all of you concerned, he is still living. In fact, just an hour after the accident while at the hospital in buffalo he was in a perfectly stable condition and just a week later he returned to the ice playing with the Sabres again :)

  • how the fuck is this funny you filthy piece of shit wouldn't be laughing if you got a skate in the throat you fucking idiot

  • wow cow skateboard
