  • my jazz band just played this for our jazz fest! ♥

  • something soothing to the soul w/ this music

  • thumbs up if you listening to this in 1953 :)

  • Our jazz band has played this song for as long as i can remember. Gotta love it.

  • Requiescat in pace

  • the 19 people who disliked this have no understanding of what is good music and what is synthesised crap. This music is just fantastic.

  • None of today's so-called "artists" will be able to even come close to the genius of old-school real artists like Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and so forth.. THIS IS REAL "MUSIC"!

  • @turkishpower08 stevie wonder tony benett

these are my 2 favourites and i'm 13

  • @steelie2010 Yeah, they are included in "so forth".. ;)

  • @steelie2010 Good for you. You have a lot of class.

  • oh this brings back so many memories. used to listen to Glenn Miller with my mum all the time before she died.

  • i ordered a glenn miller cd it said it was coming by air mail but it never turned up

  • I payed trumpet and bass {tuba), and guard and line backer to my high school "fight" song!!!

  • now this is what i call music...ohh yeahhh..........swayyyyyyy tuneeee.

  • @wetbobo I totally understand about the music mix, you gotta do what ya gotta do :) but yes I agree older music should defiantly be used more often, that's why love video games like Fallout or Bioshock because as you play the game at first your like I don't like this music but after a while it just grows on you and you feel like you need to play the game just for the musci

  • the last 4 letter of the url say "jses"

THIS SONG MUST BE SENT FROM GOD!!!!!!

  • nice nice nice.

  • @Ishitoneveryone haha, nice playlist name =)

  • @MyBestBUDDYIsAGoat did you check it out? SUBSCRIBE :D.

  • that's Jimmy Stewart

  • thumbs up if you're listening to this in 1816 :) <3

  • かっこいい

  • THIS is what music is about!! GREAT

  • Everyone under the age of 20 on Earth should be given a xbox, ps3, or PC and forced to play Fallout 3 or New Vegas just to bring this type of music back. I'm 15 and this music rocks just as much as any music of today.

  • @MrTaylorowns I'm 39 and I not only listen to today's music, I produce and mix a lot of what you hear on radio (sorry, apologies to everyone here ...it pays the bills;-) But you know, I was fortunate that my parents really instilled great music on me when I was young, and I grew to have a passion for big band, swing, orchestral of all types, including symphony. What I say is it's FEEL GOOD music. Stuff today (the message, if not the beat) often depresses the hell out of me.

  • @wetbobo I have a friend in Estonia who is a producer. He's very good and has been trying to find more artists to work with and make it into the big time. He's got some SERIOUS talent and has producer several albums for a group in Sweden. Could you help him out?

  • @laurelfan1 he's on soundclick. His artist name is Grandmoss.

  • @laurelfan1 This guy over here is the favored guy in the room for opening The Joint.. I myself am a writer and would be privileged to work with people of the same interest especially this dame over here, Jessica Nunez

  • @laurelfan1 The year was 2012 the end of the world is right around the corner, gas prices is at an all time high, our foriegn policy is about as bad as our declining economy, and and to make headaches worse our Justin Beiber is our new Benny Goodman, but Mr. Goodman didn't annoy 95 percent of the population. Our story begins in a new prohibition era. In a joint called, The Joint Underground marijuana bar where artists get together to present new ideas to one another.

  • @wetbobo i hate you.

  • damn im sexy

  • Happy Birthday Mr. Miller

  • @orangehatdrummer: You're mostly right with that story. The actual story is that when he was arranging for Ray Noble's Big Band (when he wrote a lot of this material) he had a tpt player who could hit really high notes. When the guy left the band, he was replaces with a player that didn't have the range, so he re-voiced the tpt part for the clarinet (4th tenor) and that became the signature Miller sound...

  • Why thumb up if your listening in 2012. Thumb up because the music is awesome!

  • Here's to the greatest generation. If it weren't for them we wouldn't be here!

  • @OrangeHatDrummer That sounds a little too much like the end of Back to the future 1 to me - although it could be true

  • Could anyone here validate this story about Glenn miller for me. A couple of years ago i was talking to a distant member of the family may he R.I.P, and he said that when he was starting out he was looking for a unique sound, and it came about by chance when a trumpet player in the band cracked a lip (falling over or something) just before they did a recording, so after failing to find a replacement player he settled for a clarinet player, and thus the unique sound was discovered.

  • @OrangeHatDrummer watch the Glenn Miller Story.

  • I think it is true though from what I remember

  • @OrangeHatDrummer thats whats in the Glenn Miller Story

  • thumbs up if your listening to this in 2012 :) <3

  • @xxxdarkheartedboixxx Youre the exact reason why this video has no funny top rated comments.

  • @xxxdarkheartedboixxx thumb down idiotic comments like these, so sick of them

  • @xxxdarkheartedboixxx And if you will ALWAYS listen to this ;)

  • @xxxdarkheartedboixxx What other year would I be listening to it in, dummy?

  • @xxxdarkheartedboixxx No I am listening to this in 2092... -.- Any Idiot who thumbed you up needs, to a smack in the face. I don't care when your listening to it, be it. 100 A.D. Or 2012, or stardate 121423.2.4 Or whatever.

  • @teantora that is Jimmy Stewart lol

  • damn he's sexy

  • this peice will be played at my junior prom. i will use any means neccessary to get this on that djs playlist.

  • Jake & Sadie <3

  • .i remember my late grandfather when i hear this music..i really miss him so much!..

  • sorry your not sexy

  • grande grande grande , il piu' grande non smetto mai di sentire questa grande musica di un grande musicista !

  • この曲か。いいね。

  • This was the time music was actually music. Not made on a computer, but with real musicians and a real sound. I wish true music like this wasn't almost dead.

  • @videolookerupper See the situation as a carrier opportunity. ;)

  • very very very,,,,,good music....

  • @DEZZIS51

Personally I have a massively wide taste in music. There's something in every style I can appreciate, from pop to jazz to classical to rap to metal to country. Everything has at least one thing I like in it I've found.

And it's true really. Things may BECOME mainstream, but every style started for a reason. Because there were people who made it, good people who made it. No style was made out of pure shit, it BECAME shit.

  • having multiple arguments with people telling them that this kind of music is better than most modern music :p

  • 19 people are going to lowest level of hell...

  • @CambrianBrock Nah, just for the fact they actually got onto this video.

  • jimmy stewart : parfait comme toujours.

  • I am ! B17s ,1940s when woman were woman.

  • I cant dance very well. But Songs like this inspire Me to put on My cutest heels! So much fun!

  • how he stares at us in the picture is freaky

  • This video was recorded on the "film" directly which had better and longer lasting sound quality compared to audio.

  • James Stewart as Glenn Miller, Good Movie ........

  • @hannibaltheundeadcat im just trying to stop using it...

    im just a human XD

  • It's just some guys honkin' their horns. Check out Nicki Minaj for some real music.

  • @MrDreamTheater2 nice try :D

  • @MrDreamTheater2 ಠ_ಠ

  • @MrDreamTheater2 Holy Mackerel ! You are damn stooopid.

  • @MrDreamTheater2 Master of trolling xD

  • @MrDreamTheater2 Minaj is a slag and your an idiot. This is real music now stfu and gtfo

  • belongs in fallout

  • This music brings the TRUE American spirit. I mean the AAA rated economy one not the "sit on the couch listening hip hop/rap and protest."

  • 19 people have no taste in music.

  • i think of planes wen i hear this

  • I am seventeen, and deeply enjoy big band music, however my age is irrelevant. Good music is timeless, what possible bearing on this great music could my age have? When people go spouting their age on their posts it cries,"look at me I need attention and I'm ironic!", and we call people who like irony for irony's sake hipsters. No one likes hipsters. Hipsters don't like hipsters. Hipster's MOTHERS don't like hipsters. Don't be a hipster.

  • @hannibaltheundeadcat You're post is ironic itself

  • @Simo0793 but not for ironies sake. that is an important distinction.

  • @hannibaltheundeadcat if ya age is irrelevant. why the fridge are ya posting it here? its irritating like fuck!

  • @TheEwa000 just as a way of proving a point. It was in reference to the thousand 13 year olds who posted their age looking for a medal or some shit. That was my way of saying, "why the fridge are ya posting it here? its irritating like fuck!" one other question though, why did you use fridge the first time and fuck the second?

  • too bad i cant like it more than once.. :(

  • This is a Glenn Miller tribute band... Not the real orchestra...

  • Why the fuck are all these pre 1990's music videos full of 13 year old kids "expressing their individuality" because "omgz i dont like Kayne, i like dis music and im 13 i was born in da wrong time, give me a fucking medal". Fuck sake. Honestly. =D

  • @Hallerz212 I'm no 13 year old, but it's because Gaga and Katy Perry and all these pop artists blow ass. Don't get me wrong, I love Radiohead, the Gorillaz, even Kanye West. But you have to have at least some appreciation for timeless music. Otherwise you're a dumbass.

  • @7Jubal7 When did i ever say anything about not appreciating the music? My problem is with all these fucking kids acting as if they deserve some sort of recognition because they listen to this time of music..i mean..who the fuck cares.

  • @Hallerz212 I see what youre saying. But I mean I guess they want to show theyre not an idiot who likes all that other crap.

  • Super great quality. Love it

  • As it turns out, my father now finally told me that my grandfather played drums for Glen Miller and Gene Krupa. Everyone one except for me in my house doesn't like this kind of music. I love it and I'm 13. Though no one probably wants to hear what my age is because its annoying as fuck. >:D+{

  • @marshallman99ful Be proud of your age and your impeccable taste in music my friend, don't mind the haters. You're in the best company with this as your soundtrack :)

  • @LanethSffarlenn thxxxxxxxxxx

  • @MelissMarshall87 lol srry i was logged in meh sistas acount but anyway thanks :D

  • @marshallman99ful How drunk are you? Not as much as me. Cheers.

  • @wheresthejam lol

  • @marshallman99ful How cool was your grandad? He was probably one of those guys that Niel Peart was listening to when was getting into drumming.

Your grandad rocked, or swung. Very cool.

Don't listen to old people. Unless they are smart.

  • @marshallman99ful Hey man thats a great story and what a treasure to pass on to your kids. Well don't be discouraged I'm 18 and I appreciate "Big Band" music as I can say keep this medium alive we should let this great music die off in the next generation.

  • @marshallman99ful That's something to be proud of. Nothing wrong with big band sound. Google Cozy Cole listen to Topsy part 1 and 2

  • @marshallman99ful NOBODY played drums for Gene Krupa! HE WAS A DRUMMER!!

  • @theprofessor120155 he played other instruments too....... so someone had to play drums

  • @theprofessor120155 he played in clubs with him

  • @marshallman99ful so your granddad played drums for gene krupa, the drums player?

  • @marshallman99ful

ok, my grandfather wasnt a drummer, he didnt know glenn, but YOU are definitely on the right way. this kind of music is somehow our heritage, and everything afterwards comes from it. so don't be too annoyed.

  • Would u like 2 spend a day or so at the sandy beach with Me? :-)

  • @marshallman99ful You grew up in a WAY too uptight family, like a lot of people.

  • @marshallman99ful Take it all in kid.......it's good to hear 13 year old like this instead of the crap that's out there.....my musical background covers everything....I studied music for 8 years.......Be eclectic .....like all kinds and styles....if i'm a good judge, you probably don't like that rap crap......

  • @DEZZIS51 Theres nothing wrong with modern rap. Maybe rapper like 360 and stuff, they're bad.. but Jay-Z and Eminem are quality.. I think what you mean is techno shit and the pop shit that gets voice autotuned to every single song... bruno mars and all those other fags.

  • @marshallman99ful It's good to hear that the younger generation still can appreciate classic pieces of music. I played trumpet in the Sacramento Youth Jazz Band when I was a kid...back in the 80s and this was one of my favorite tunes to play. I am a huge Rock and Roll fan but I can still groove on good Big band Tunes....I LOVE IT!

  • @marshallman99ful How would he play drums for Gene Krupa when Gene was a drummer????

  • @WillardOfOz Not only that, but Gene Krupa played for Benny Goodman before starting his own band. Miller's drummer was Maurice "Mo" Purtill

  • @marshallman99ful Me To! Im 13 too and I ADORE this genre!!

  • @marshallman99ful Hey guy, don't beat yourself up! You can like any kind of music you want. If you like the big band sound, you are one up on your peers. They may learn

to like it when they get older, and you will have already been there, and done that. This is some of the best music ever, and the artists played actual instruments and not just digital gadgets and key boards. Keep up the good work and check out Goodman, and Dorsey and Shaw and the others. They were great!

  • @marshallman99ful The fact that you, at 13, like this kind of music gives me hope for the future! I discovered Glenn Miller's music when I was your age. Now I'm 21 and I still love it :)

  • i listen to almost all scream and this is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

  • 19 people are not in the mood :*(

  • BTW that picture isn't Glenn!

It's James Stewart in the MOVIE "The Glenn Miller Story"

  • It's an ORGASM!

    ;-)

  • @justincgs why

  • is glenn miller dead our alive

  • @rach73735 There is a movie called the Glenn Miller Story you should watch that's about his life! He was a wonderful man.

He died in a air crash during the war flying over the English Channel serving his country.

    He was 40 years old.

  • @rach73735 He died in a plane crash over the English Channel in 1944

  • Started humming this in class and had no idea what it was called. Glad I found it!!!

  • My folks used to dance to this on Friday nights listening to The Swing Hour on a Motorola radio -- and I've never forgotten a note...

  • I absolutely adore this. I cannot accurately relate the sheer number of times I have listened to this while writing. It gets those juices a-flowing, :).

    -Nick

  • love this

  • It is a great song, but it is a picture of Jimmy Stewart. But who cares, I like them both.

  • I FIRST HEARD THIS IN A TOM AND JERRY CARTOON!!!HOW STUPID OF ME!!

  • @Kendrick12378 Haa me tooo!

  • musica immortale

  • awesome

  • who could dislike this song?

  • cool soundz

  • mad cunt

  • so stoney

  • 2012 and listening to some great music

  • Glenn Miller wrote this song not just popularized it.

  • Makes you want to kick up your heels

  • Thanks a bunch! This has GREAT sound quality.

  • i hear this song everytime i hear sombody say ww2. hell when bin laden got shot i played this over my amplifires as loud as theyd go

  • a real great song to play

  • Damn im sexy ;D

  • @PrincessaRuhfafafoo I cracked up when I saw that. :D

  • I read about this song in 11/22/63 and then when i heard it i realized it was on fallout... i dunno...felt like id share that

  • Where is this version of In The Mood coming from? can't here any kind of old cracking background noise. Just little bit of if it pauses some times in the song. Got some Versions, but on of theme sounded that clear. Which doesn't mean i prefer it. Nostalgic crack noises rules =D

  • @Mevarit Actually, it's probably a modern recording by whatever incarnation of Glenn's band is out there, most likely; I can't believe the original "cleans up" this well. In any event, it gives me a better idea of what Glenn Miller sounded like live, as I wasn't around then, so I do like this recording. So sue me.

  • Glenn miller is my Grandpas name!

  • Fanphucintastic.

  • an america time piece of music perfect for elevator music lol why isnt this song in more movies

  • I'm watching the Glenn Miller Story on AMC right now.

  • From a time gone by, nothing can compare to the big band sound. Musically, the 40's and 50's were a great time. Jam on it man! Gen X'ers (of which I'm one) will say it reminds them of their grandparents or their grandparents time. Makes me miss my Granpa.

  • @MOJayhawk99 makes me want to call my gramma

  • This was one of my grandads favorite songs.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!

  • i wanna go back in time to party on this

  • we play this every year in jazz band :)

  • Foxtrot!

  • great song. maybe this song is old, but timeless... :)

  • no one gives a shit about your age...just enjoy the music

  • This song always brings me happiness and hope, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman are my two favourite big band/swing artists. <3 them so much! And WOO!!! young people who love the good stuff like me! :D

  • Bred in Fort Morgan Colorado! Loved paying tribute to our home town hero when playing this in school.

  • One of the best songs ever written. it is timeless.

  • @Sports570 the exact opposite, symbolizes usa of the 50s and 60s

  • @Sports570 explain this to those brainfucked justin gay fans -_-

  • This makes me miss my times playing the trombone......

  • Maravilhosoooo!!! Lindoooo!!!

  • Glenn Miller to be like James Stewart.

  • beatles suck.
