  • love your videos (where is the snow?:D ) your voice is ever so soothing as well! I will share this video on my FB page thank you for sharing great information

  • Great video! Will you be doing one about solving the problem??

  • @EDUCACIONMORECAN - thanks - you know, I have thought about that a lot. I don't think so at this time, resource guarding is different in each household and each dog. Sometimes it is the dog, sometimes it is the dynamics of the household. It is something that is so individual that it needs to be addressed on a case by case situation. I f I see one of the puppies in one of our classes have this as an instinctual behavior, for sure I will film it and go through the modification process...

  • @nancyspore Great!!

  • thumbs up for another awesome very educational video. I do have some issues with resource guarding with some of my regular's but I know where I went wrong... but this video is great to show how to avoid the problem appearing... thanks!

  • Wow, I wish I would have seen this video beforehand! I still hand feed Toby and Katie every day...they know when I say "lets eat" that is their time to lay down and be good kids. I would have never have thought to give the dogs raw chicken with its bone! They are going to love that as much as they love the fish brownies (by the way, Toby thinks those are "the crack").

  • @crocheter0808 Hey Loreen, because Toby is a bit of a guarder, for now, hand feeding is a great option, because you don't want him focusing on Katie. Check out Dr. Tom Lonsdales book before you start feeding raw... or Monica Segals K9 Kitchen...

  • this video is awesome and so true!

  • @AppyCollie - Thanks!

  • Oh I wish we could send a video like this out to every new adopter from our shelter when they add a 2nd or 3rd dog.

  • SUPER video Nancy ! These sorts of critical building blocks are the foundation of everything that follows.

    Great Work.

  • @cloverwood58 - I would have thought your computer would be soggy and dripping water about now! Thanks for the kind words, but how are you all doing?

  • Great tips as usual! Love the photos at the end of the calm, but very happy dog!

  • @azmauigirl - that's my Franny with her fat happy food face!

  • Yes, what a great video! I like to do various chores while preparing my dogs meals so there is even more time and space for each of them to relax before feeding. My older girl takes more time when eating, so I ask the younger guy to move a distance away so that she can eat in peace. He is free to visit her bowl once she has walked away, if she leaves food, he is free to eat what's left.

  • @tehrenberg - the chores before feeding is a great tip...

  • Very good video. We need more of these on the internet!

  • @KCDogguy - thanks! ... I think proactive training is much easier than modifying a behavior gone wrong....
