idk but on my DX6i in order to set elevators to flight/landing mode, i need to use the dualrate switch for elevators and not the flight mode/landing switch
this is wierd
and no when i flip the switch, i set it so it stays either ^100% or ^60% since my plane is VERY NOSEHEAVY
Hi, I bought my radio Hitech Optic 6 channel which can be shifted to 2.4gh by replacing modules. SO, the problem Im having is with the servos whilst my radio is off and I push held the trainer switch they move for a second then stops. But they keep moving themselves whilst my radio transmitter is off. Im worried! r they defective should they be replaced?
Heads up Dave. It's Aux not Aug on channel 6. I have not seen anything on Helo radios. I use one now cause you can fly both planes and helo's off them. but you can't use plane radios on helo's. I found the extra $20.00 worth it for smooth sticks. also you could add that you can screw the sticks up or down, to fit each persons hand.
hi man i like ur videos, ijust saw the exceed 6ch 2.4 ghz with receiver in hobbypartzdotcom, does that transmitter have the elevon delta mix? does the receiver accepts11.1 li-po batteries? i hope you help me

i have a plane that someone gave me and it has a receiver that is wired to HIS radio...if i want to set it to MY radio, do i only have to switch the receiver, or is there some other thing to it...and just in case this matters, its a gas powered plane
2-300 bucks for a Spectrum Dx6i. As you can see Dave has a Dx6. I would guess the Dx6 is a little cheaper. But i havent seen the Dx6 in any store / webstore.
Dave, I've been watching a bunch of videos of yours. I have to say I think you're starting to turn a Heli guy into an airplane dude. These videos are great and I'm getting everything you're talking about. Keep up the good work!
Oh, and I appreciate your discrete humor that almost flies like your F-117 bomber ;)
hi all i am having truble with my kestrel mkp6298 every think works ok on its own but wen i put on the throtle the ruder/flaps wont work or they will move on ther own but more oftern that not ther wont work at all wen the throtle is on can any one help
One thing about this video, concerning exponential controls, that I wasn't too fond of, is that they can be useful for a kind of duel rate setting. Increase your throws to the more extreme limits, and then add in the exponential properties so that at softer inputs you get easier and more gentile control, while having more maneuverability at higher inputs. But overall, great video.
As a fallow up to my post, I do agree that it's not for everyone, and I would only recommend using exponential controls that way if you're very familiar with the aircraft's flight characteristics. Set the exponential values too low and you don't get enough of a softening effect; set them too high, and the plane jumps all over the place at the more extreme inputs. Like most anything, it takes some trial and error (hopefully without crashing) to get it to feel comfortable.
You turn both the receiver and transmitter on, then hit the set button on the receiver to pickup and lock in the transmitter's encoded signal. The transmitter doesn't receive anything from the receiver (unless you have some kind of crazy, high-end radio system). Sometimes there are more specific instructions, such as how long to hold the set button, what flashing LED lights mean, but that's the basics of it.
Hello Dave, thx for the how to videos. I am having trouble with delta mix. My ail. and elev. move up and down correctly. When I roll right, the right ail and elev. go down and the left go up. Isnt this backwards and how do you recommend to fix this problem?
Thanx for the vids, they're great but when bulding from scratch how do I make the aerofoils, so that the plane can generate lift. It would be great if you could do a lesson on aerodynamics. :)
no, because the only two control surfaces on it are used for both roll and pitch, flaperons would just be like pushing down on the stick because the surfaces are so far back. flaperons/spoilerons work because they are so close to the center of gravity. that is why you dont see the elevator go down when say a cessna lands.
Hi dave! is there any way u know any technical site where i can make ALL the parts of the rc plane? u know, the transmitter and the receiver especially... (the electronics)... i would like to make one myself...
I have recently made a bomb drop compartment and plugged the servo into channel 5, it works fine but the servo horn does not move 100% only about 40% I have esky 6ch 2.4ghz radio and I dont think it is programable, is there anyway of increasing the servos angle?
hows the yellow black plane acellerated i dont see any moters are they inside it or beneath it im sorry if i sound di but i live in saudi arabia and we dont have much rcs over here :<(
Hey Dave, thanks for the videos! I just got a futaba 7c so this is really helping me. I have a question, can i use flaps with channel 2 and 5? I only have a berg 5 ch receiver. =(
Thanks a lot Dave - great stuff! That DX6 really feels hard to work with compared to my JR XP6102 / Graupner MX-12... And they are about the same price. OK I guess the DX6i is more like the MX-12 as the DX6 is old now...

(i just bought a new 3D plane and i need to know some details about programing) thanks a lot!
I think it's great of you (and Val) to make these videos. I know that they will help so many people. I have a few things I would like to add though. expo on some TX need to be -% to get the null in center and if + might be touchy at center. also when he says revers the servo wires don't think he means turning the servo wire around but just switching what servo goes into what CH. and one more thing, different brand TXs use different CHs for ex for Hitec CH1is roll. exelent video and keep it up!
Expo is pretty good for Funfly's where you have "Barn Door" style flying surfaces. So you can fly it around like a normal plane but when you move the sticks further you get that big movement you need to do the crazy stuff.
Thats what i use it for anyways, i dont bother on sport planes just funfly's

Hi Dave and Val, I have a dx6i setup for spoilerons. Is there a way to map, say, a switch for spoilerons (already done) and another for flapperons?
flv1333 1 year ago
at 16:00 you say about the fronteron servos cant be symetrical or it wont work.
you could have them symetrical but you need a Y- reverser.
that is a y harness but with a servo reverser on 1 side.
then it being symetrical would work
