  • Look at the way he flaps his hands from 0:24 to 0:35 :X

  • so what are bind plugs used for?

  • Why didn't he say anything about bomb dropping or landing gear???

  • More videos of assembly, dialing in controls/trim and hints, tips to/of upgrades such as elect. and air retracts, slats, flaps install from start to finish on a type airplane suitable for all the above. Please review instruct. manuals supplied. I've seen clearer examples from BH! I take this hobby seriously and have goals to learn as much as I can/need to own a real RC jet in 5 years.

  • spektrum have dual rate too?! that cool!

  • for the aileron mixing do u need a y-harness and which port do u plug it into, the elevator or the aileron

  • for elevon mixing do u plug 1 servo to elevator on the receiver and 1 servo to the alieron

  • Wrestle through it. We all do it. Hahaha It rhymes!

  • i can't get on Rcpowers.com any more it come up with godaddy.com

  • Fronterons, flaperons, ailerons, spoilerons, wingerons, bomberons, getoffmylawns...... gotcha.

  • great videos

  • is it possible to do flaps with a 5 channel radio and receiver?

  • @aldudio give it a try

  • awesome lessons... pal!

  • idk but on my DX6i in order to set elevators to flight/landing mode, i need to use the dualrate switch for elevators and not the flight mode/landing switch

    this is wierd

and no when i flip the switch, i set it so it stays either ^100% or ^60% since my plane is VERY NOSEHEAVY

  • Hi, I bought my radio Hitech Optic 6 channel which can be shifted to 2.4gh by replacing modules. SO, the problem Im having is with the servos whilst my radio is off and I push held the trainer switch they move for a second then stops. But they keep moving themselves whilst my radio transmitter is off. Im worried! r they defective should they be replaced?

  • rc planes look a bit hard but also fun

  • out of all your EDF jets which one would you say was the best all round?

  • Heads up Dave. It's Aux not Aug on channel 6. I have not seen anything on Helo radios. I use one now cause you can fly both planes and helo's off them. but you can't use plane radios on helo's. I found the extra $20.00 worth it for smooth sticks. also you could add that you can screw the sticks up or down, to fit each persons hand.

  • how much cost a 6ch radio?

  • hi man i like ur videos, ijust saw the exceed 6ch 2.4 ghz with receiver in hobbypartzdotcom, does that transmitter have the elevon delta mix? does the receiver accepts11.1 li-po batteries? i hope you help me

  • Hi Dave and Val, I have a dx6i setup for spoilerons. Is there a way to map, say, a switch for spoilerons (already done) and another for flapperons?

  • at 16:00 you say about the fronteron servos cant be symetrical or it wont work.

you could have them symetrical but you need a Y- reverser.

that is a y harness but with a servo reverser on 1 side.

then it being symetrical would work

  • your videos are just awesome.

  • so where is part one two and six ???

    gtzz poerik

  • @poerik its called claas 1 and class 2

  • @MattyTeare

    aa thks

    i will watch d now

    grtzz

  • t5hanks again dave

  • just go to dave web site the dx6 is for sale.

  • Brilliant!!! I've been watching all the begginer vids very helpful. Great vids keep them coming but only problem my mum (yes im 15) thinks im insane when i ask her if i can get a $200 radio any tips lol. I think your group is a great bunch thanks!!

  • OMG I just now did the elevon dance it took a while but now it works. Im doing with an aerocat that my brother crashed a long time ago and now i out electronics in it and i am testing it tomorrow!!!

  • what transmitter is better the DX6i or the DX7

  • Very helpful. I have a wild Hawk witch that im seting up with alerons and flaperons.

DAVE POWERS RULES ALL RC CREATIONS!!!

  • dude thanks a ton i was about to fly my new f-117 witch goes 90mph+ and just noticed the dual rate button on my transmiter -Thanks!

  • Absolutely brilliant Dave.. I just bought my DX7... now to learn and wrestle with it.. lol

  • i have a plane that someone gave me and it has a receiver that is wired to HIS radio...if i want to set it to MY radio, do i only have to switch the receiver, or is there some other thing to it...and just in case this matters, its a gas powered plane

  • Depend on, is it normal FM version radio or 2.4 GHZ? and if 2.4, what brand? Futaba, Spektrum, JR etc.

  • Waw, How much for a radio system like that ?

  • 2-300 bucks for a Spectrum Dx6i. As you can see Dave has a Dx6. I would guess the Dx6 is a little cheaper. But i havent seen the Dx6 in any store / webstore.

    Hope this helps!

    Andreas

  • Dave, I've been watching a bunch of videos of yours. I have to say I think you're starting to turn a Heli guy into an airplane dude. These videos are great and I'm getting everything you're talking about. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and I appreciate your discrete humor that almost flies like your F-117 bomber ;)

  • expo is more for helicopters

  • hi all i am having truble with my kestrel mkp6298 every think works ok on its own but wen i put on the throtle the ruder/flaps wont work or they will move on ther own but more oftern that not ther wont work at all wen the throtle is on can any one help

  • One thing about this video, concerning exponential controls, that I wasn't too fond of, is that they can be useful for a kind of duel rate setting. Increase your throws to the more extreme limits, and then add in the exponential properties so that at softer inputs you get easier and more gentile control, while having more maneuverability at higher inputs. But overall, great video.

  • As a fallow up to my post, I do agree that it's not for everyone, and I would only recommend using exponential controls that way if you're very familiar with the aircraft's flight characteristics. Set the exponential values too low and you don't get enough of a softening effect; set them too high, and the plane jumps all over the place at the more extreme inputs. Like most anything, it takes some trial and error (hopefully without crashing) to get it to feel comfortable.

  • what type of aireal is that

  • How do a 2.4ghz controller and receiver recognize each other?

  • You turn both the receiver and transmitter on, then hit the set button on the receiver to pickup and lock in the transmitter's encoded signal. The transmitter doesn't receive anything from the receiver (unless you have some kind of crazy, high-end radio system). Sometimes there are more specific instructions, such as how long to hold the set button, what flashing LED lights mean, but that's the basics of it.

  • Oh, I guess some use an up-link cable too. I use the Futaba 2.4 GHz FASST system, which functions the way I mentioned earlier.

  • Dear dave, i cant thank you enough for this series of videos

they gave me lots of confidince to start building rc planes and flying them

    thank u

  • gta san andreas

  • Hello Dave, thx for the how to videos. I am having trouble with delta mix. My ail. and elev. move up and down correctly. When I roll right, the right ail and elev. go down and the left go up. Isnt this backwards and how do you recommend to fix this problem?

  • Thanx for the vids, they're great but when bulding from scratch how do I make the aerofoils, so that the plane can generate lift. It would be great if you could do a lesson on aerodynamics. :)

  • make a longer way for the air to travel on the upside of the wing, that will make lift for ya

  • is it bosible to do flaperond/spoilerreons on an f-117?

    lease answer

  • no, because the only two control surfaces on it are used for both roll and pitch, flaperons would just be like pushing down on the stick because the surfaces are so far back. flaperons/spoilerons work because they are so close to the center of gravity. that is why you dont see the elevator go down when say a cessna lands.

  • thanx

  • Hi dave! is there any way u know any technical site where i can make ALL the parts of the rc plane? u know, the transmitter and the receiver especially... (the electronics)... i would like to make one myself...

  • Your left elevator is not hinged correct if you ask me.

  • I have recently made a bomb drop compartment and plugged the servo into channel 5, it works fine but the servo horn does not move 100% only about 40% I have esky 6ch 2.4ghz radio and I dont think it is programable, is there anyway of increasing the servos angle?

  • hows the yellow black plane acellerated i dont see any moters are they inside it or beneath it im sorry if i sound di but i live in saudi arabia and we dont have much rcs over here :<(

  • its a ducted fan - an internal fan like on a PC but overpowered. It works like a Jet without the combustions.

    Strive for freedom...

  • first of all, its yellow and blue

second, its one of our nations and many nations premier strike fighter right now

third, theres a little fan inside the ducting of the airplane

  • hey dave how do you add a switch to your transmitter? I dont want to buy a new transmitter but want to add another servo, how do I do that?

  • i got one of those, its 9 inches wide and 11 inches liong, looks just like it. its the aero ace f 18 hornet

  • these videos are very helpful!

  • Hey Dave, thanks for the videos! I just got a futaba 7c so this is really helping me. I have a question, can i use flaps with channel 2 and 5? I only have a berg 5 ch receiver. =(

  • There is this video with subtitles in Portuguese?

  • tuga

  • Comment removed

  • nice to know that even an expert like you gets frustrated with getting the delta mix right on your planes. total headache! thanks for the tips

  • :-)

  • Thanks a lot Dave - great stuff! That DX6 really feels hard to work with compared to my JR XP6102 / Graupner MX-12... And they are about the same price. OK I guess the DX6i is more like the MX-12 as the DX6 is old now...

Thanks for your videos! You got me into scratchbuilding after watching your KF videos...

  • you lost me at 20 seconds.

  • Like Mr. Rogers, but for RC.

  • thank you for doing these videos beginners really need this info, i have been flying for years and have seen alot of videos but these are the best info videos i have ever seen.....tazprs tech dude

  • That was GREAT!!, Best Tutorial Video yet. 10/10 guys, THANKS

  • Why does Dave always say "i hope it was helpless for you"

  • A joke..maybe...

  • Have you ever thought of making/acquiring a passenger carrier type aircraft. I think it would be a nice change to see like a foamy 757 or an a321.

  • So exponetial is like deadzone in your pc gamepad?

  • ohh verrry nice

  • Very cool Helpless for ya. lol thanks for the Explination on EXPO think i'll stick to brain expo. lol

  • This video was awesome. I would love to purchase a plane like that one to get started. How much would one of them cost and how much is the radio controller you have in this video cost. I look so forward to getting a plane and being able to know about them and then build one of my own. You Rock and are full of knowledge. Have a great night and I hope you have a fun Friday. God bless you and your family.

  • 15:27

    Boom's in the shot!

    lol

  • Good show Dave .

  • Hi there,

I c you are using a DX6 radio. My question is Spectrum made the DX6, and the DX6i what is the different in these radios? what does the "i" mean?

    Broms

  • Im not sure but I know the Dx6i is better. I am getting one I hope.

  • The dx6i is a second generation radio, there are a lot of differenes, to name a few, it uses DSM2 (as opposed to DSM) , and it has some other little features like model match etc. I believe that they also made it easier to program and use, as far as menus and buttons etc.

  • The DX6 was made when spektrum first started out and was just a rehash of an 35mhz JR radio to keep production costs down.

The DX6i could be considered the proper version they made later, this one is much better

  • nice as usual. thanx for sharing.

  • Another great video Dave. Good clear step-by-step narration and still very entertaining.

For a future show I'd like to know your opinion on ESCs and BECs. Particularly, when to use a BEC to power the Rx rather than the ESC's integrated BEC.

  • how you should have a tv show of all this

    your going to the top

  • i want a new controller for my easy star i hate that backside throttle

  • Me too'

     XD

  • I can't get the video to load past the first minute.

  • one thing i dont like about those planes is that it has no rudder as stock!

    that really annoys me!

  • very use full once again!

    your brill

    Thanks

    Sam

  • i really like thees beginer shows but can you make more videos with the wild hawk

  • DAVE PLEASE GET A DX7!!!!

  • "aug" should be aux

  • That was what i needed Dave for my new model when it get's here lol, great how you explained it all,5*

  • u spelled flaperons wrong at 9:45

  • why do you nit pick?

  • I have always been really confused about exponential. people have explained to me as a "curve" but that made absolutely no sense! now you just explained it perfectly and thank you for that! and just in time! (i just bought a new 3D plane and i need to know some details about programing) thanks a lot!

  • I think it's great of you (and Val) to make these videos. I know that they will help so many people. I have a few things I would like to add though. expo on some TX need to be -% to get the null in center and if + might be touchy at center. also when he says revers the servo wires don't think he means turning the servo wire around but just switching what servo goes into what CH. and one more thing, different brand TXs use different CHs for ex for Hitec CH1is roll. exelent video and keep it up!

  • Expo is pretty good for Funfly's where you have "Barn Door" style flying surfaces. So you can fly it around like a normal plane but when you move the sticks further you get that big movement you need to do the crazy stuff.

Thats what i use it for anyways, i dont bother on sport planes just funfly's

  • Very good, Dave! Nice explanations! Thanks a lot.

  • wasome dude

  • nice one dave!I expect the secrets I don`t know about planes and setups:D

  • great.. thx
