  • vecchia ma bellissima! :-)

  • WOW, how old is this song, havent heard it in ages, what a pleasant surprise!! thank you.

  • oh my god robertland, i think you changed my existence... the music should be heared not looked... i cry for joy!

  • I'm usually more of a metal-head, but this song is like crack cocaine.

  • josh hawkins brought me here

  • @boxlover85 oh shit what video part?

  • Maybe I'm missing a trick here but if you think that the perfect music video is image-less, why have you made a video? You could just have put up a black screen, that would be less hypocritical, but like I said maybe I'm missing a trick, is it supposed to be ironic perhaps? Do tell.

  • @MrPessimal i'd say the perfect non video vid would be anti-anti-anti to the 5th power, except it could only be expressed on graph paper. because, well, we all know people have already done video remakes on o - silly - scopes. oscillioscopes for da techheads.

  • all time classic b&s song......thank you. their best

  • Very nice compositon

  • I like the video!

  • it hurts <3

  • surely an anti music video would have neither music nor video involved.

  • diggin it!

  • no shit. Keep up the work dude.

  • I love this song, but just sound quality could be better...

  • Terrible audio quality.

  • Twats

  • By the way, I love this song, hope it gets better representation on youtube in the future, from a less negligent uploader.

At least we can count our blessings that he let the song play out fully and there weren't any bullshit videogame graphics.

  • Who cares what on the video!?! What I care about is robertland's evident disregard for how the music SOUNDS on his channel, It all sounds like tinny, whirling toilet bowl waste to my ears. If you really wanna "keep the music pure", try uploading music so it doesn't sound like crap.

  • @FungusMossGnosis

Oh and you........sound like a douche. If you want to hear this in the way BaS intended you to, go buy the fuckin CD. hahahaha ! WTF

  • @drumjoey

I have the vinyl and cd, you tone-deaf jackanape, and if wanting to hear something that's more than a washed out facsimile of what the original sounds like makes me a [unimaginative D-word], than I hope I die and come back as a vaginal cleanser, so as not to have to worry about this any longer. You sound like you want to crawl up robertland's ass and listen to his bad recordings there - have at it!

I prefer absolute silence to this garbage.

P.S. - I play Gretsch, what you play?

  • @FungusMossGnosis

I play drums. I don't really feel the NEED to announce what extravagant brand of instrument I play. I just play. Check out my channel, there is an example of what I do. And I hope it sounds like a [unimaginative D-word] fused with a washed out facsimile of what the original sounds like.

  • @drumjoey

    Gretsch is an "extravagant brand"?

"And I hope [what I do] sounds like..." No, you don't. And it doesn't. It's a pretty good recording. And the fireworks are not too distracting an aesthetic choice. Still, I think absolute black would have been a purer choice, no?

Don't be silly, man - you're playing Yamaha, right? I don't mean to sound superficial, but I have to know what brand you use before I can tell whether I like it or not...

  • @FungusMossGnosis

Ha ha ha, ok. I play Premier. And as for an all maple kit such as a Gretsch, the price tag on them is extravagant for me. Fungus, I just find it strange that the brand makes it or breaks it for you. Also, I do appreciate your input on my video. Thanks.

  • @drumjoey

Indeed, it is strange, inexplicable, (even, perhaps, doomed), my little compulsions ... Premier is a respectable kit. And I did indeed like your playing on the song upload before I learned what drums you drummed. I have an old 4-piece 1940's Gretsch kit that didn't put me back much (under $600). This is of interest to about 1.5 people, so I'll go away now.

  • Hey where did the record player go, I was enjoying staring at it! Aghh there it is and it appears i'm scarilly close to it!! Phew it's gone again....oo back, dif part, gone, back :/

  • love it!!

  • No offense but the idea of this anti-music videos with a blank screen is too contrived. If you think the images are distracting, why make a video in the first place? Then just play the record and don't make any videos at all! Seriously it's just dumb.

  • where have you been my whole life?

    that is one brilliant suggestion.

    thanks motherfucker (no offense).

  • Agree to disagree then.

  • @robertland

    Yea, thats a great idea!

  • @LightsOfBohemia As a scholar of avant garde video (experimental whatever you want to call it I am not going to be pretentious about it) I think there is room for interpretation. This video works well for the song but the I tend to agree that to call the concept an "anti-music video" is a bit of an oxymoron. Robert, you can do better than to just call him a MFer. Music and video are art and everybody's perceptions are worthwhile. With all that said, nice job with the minimalism.

  • @robertland The irony of claiming video is distracting as you upload a video to youtube is obviously lost on you. Colorful language is not a fair alternative to accepting constructive criticism. Perhaps you'll considier this analogy: You claim to be fighting a war, but you're making weapons for the enemy.

  • @achronism -- Damn LightsofBohemia how many Youtube accounts do you have.

As many as your cowardism requires I guess.

  • @greatsea Uh? I only have one account but whatever.

  • @robertland You're an unintentional parody of a hipster. You're a joke to the rest of the world. This anti music video thing is just a cry for attention, maybe you'd be able to get attention without being a tool if you weren't, well, a tool.

  • @leddedzephed why come here if your gonna hate dumb ass

  • @robertland YOUR BURNED HIM :D

  • @LightsOfBohemia Don't you just love pretentious comments? Makes you feel all big and special :D *pats on head* Seriously, you're adorable.

  • @intricateayla I didn't know having an opinion is pretentious now.

  • @intricateayla I couldn't let that condescending attitude pass without defending myself. Look, I just think that the premise of this video is a bad idea. There's no disrespect towards the maker of the video. Maybe I didn't choose the best words to express it but still. I didn't expect anyone to agree with me, I wanted to say it. I can't believe people are still geting upset about that comment after two months.

  • @LightsOfBohemia Meh, your choice of words were rude, pretentious and disrespectful. You should express yourself more clearly next time.

  • @intricateayla I don't need a lecture, thank you. And you should have noticed that this discussion ended months ago.

  • @LightsOfBohemia Stop replying then. Jeez!

  • @LightsOfBohemia haa FAG

  • I heard this song for the first time just earlier when my friend put it on for a salvia trip. I was in absolute bliss for the duration of my trip and now I can't stop listening. Beautiful.

  • @m4gicm4rty right on brother. i wouldn't mind listening to this on salvia.

  • This song hypnotizes me... even without the little video!

  • then why listen to it?

  • "Then you go to the place where you've finally found

You can look at yourself, sleep the clock around"

This song is in my pantheon of the five greatest songs ever made.

I met a new musical friend who had never heard of Belle and Sebastian and wanted to send her a video of this song. I felt all of them distracted from how wonderful it is until I found your video.

I am picking up what you're putting down. Thank you.
