I imagine that if you told a lot of kids today that Paul O'Grady used to appear on TV as a drag queen called "Lily Savage", they may not believe you. Weirdly, Lily was a reasonably big part of my childhood in the nineties... what with Blankety Blank and The Big Breakfast, etc.

It's weird thinking that a drag act was such a popular entity on British TV for that period. It's something I couldn't imagine happening in somewhere such as the States, for example.
