Hmmm... funny nuf, watching this actually HAS made me think about the possibility of voting for the liberals for strategic reasons. Jack Layton is not the reason Stephen Harper got elected. The voters punished Paul Martin for the sponsorship scandal and Liberal arrogance, despite the balancing of the budget on cuts that were "needed" and Stephane Dion was the reason they had a horrible showing after that. Canadians (and many experts) didn't buy into the carbon tax, and it remains to see how people will warm up to Iggy who is another neo con in Liberal clothes. @squidlad Advancing science =/= dissing government and religion. Galileo questioned, then put forth new ideas, and as for Darwin.. well.. he even questioned his own theories. This rap does nothing to ADVANCE science or knowledge, therefore it is a waste of time, especially just to make money, ugh. It seems like he's marketing towards atheists and Darwinistic people. Davenewdem what was the possibility of the NDP getting what they wanted. Having the troops back in 2007? Really? Take what you can get. Unless Harper would have over ruled the majority of the house the troops would be home in four months from now. So if you asked Mr. Layton now, would he preferred troops home Feb 2009 or the end of 2011 which one would he pick. Look at the 3 years of the added cost of soldiers and cost. You got to know when to fold them. You can't always get what you want.

Thimens: the motion in question would have kept the troops in afghanistan until 2009. The NDP position has consistently been bring the troops home now. So in 2007 the NDP wanted to bring the troops home why would they support a motion that had the troops staying untl 2009. That is not logical.
