@notarun1 - That is why I would use .45 ACP shot shell...still if all you had was some #4 shot...or whatever...food is food. You might have to pick alot of pellets out of the meat. But so be it. You do what you have to in order to survival.
it depends on what your idea of +p 45 lc is because regular steel larged frame s&w revolvers are not rated for the type of +p 45lc loads that a ruger or a freedom arms are rated for. this is stated in all of my reloading books and on numberous manufacturers websites.
@blm148 - Well all I can say is the info I got, came straight from Smith & Wesson's Tech department. Hopefully they should know what their firearms can and can't do for safety reasons.
@MikeDisel67 - I would choose the SW Governor hands down over the Taurus Judge just for the simple fact it can shoot .45 ACP with moon clips and you get one extra shot.
@MikeDiesel67 - I also own the Taurus Judge Magnum...to me, the Governor weighs less, but I have not actually compared the two on a scale. I am just going by holding the weapons in my hand to compare. You should be able to go to the websites of both guns and it should list the specs on each. Hope this helps.
You said it was light...Have you been able to compare it to the polymer frame Judge? Loaded weight? I have not been able to shoot the Judge yet, and I have not held the S&W at this time. Curious,I am considering one or the other... thanks...
Great News - Talked to one of their tech support folks at Smith and Wesson. Jenny stated to me that the Governor can handle +P ammo for the .45 Long colt and .45 Super no problem. She did caution about not using +P+ ammo though.
@filmerguyman - I have heard that argument before. First and foremost that handgun is a weapon designed for combat. If I have to baby the firearm because I am afraid I am going to break it. Then either it is a cheap firearm or it's a toy gun. Firearms now days are designed to be tortured and punished. They have to be able to handle high SAAMI pressure from ammunition being fired thousands of times or more during the lifetime of that firearm. P.s. Use spell check before you post.
Another thing, for those of you that dont know any better, NEVER just flip the cylinder shut on a revolver. It's done alot in movies and sutch but it is actually very bad for the gun. Not calling this guy stupid or anything but he proubably just didnt know.
.45 Long Colt is NOT more powerful than a .44 Magnum in a standard factory load. You can do you own loads and make them more powerfull than a .44 magnum easy or buy them special. In fact in standard factory loads the .45 ACP is more powerful than the .45 long colt. The reason for this being that if you were to put higher loads into an older revolver, witch the .45 long colts were made for, those loads would blow those guns appart. In short, bigger bullet does NOT = more power.
@ downriverfirepower - I heard that it can shoot .45 GAP...but don't quote me on that. The fact it can handle .45 Super....you should be good to go...but double check and do your homework for safety reasons. I would contact Smith & Wesson and ask first.
Good video! I have watched a lot of videos on this gun and can't wait to get one for myself! I'm building a tac rig for the AR and ill have this on my vest for "oh shoot" scerinos!
There will never be just one gun that can do it all...the only firearm that comes close is the 12 Ga Shotgun.
I also own the Taurus Judge Magnum...you can send off the cylinder off to get milled to accept .45 ACP.
The gun smith wants $250 to do that...to me it was not worth it. I will wait unit Taurus offers it once they see their gun sales slack off because Smith and Wesson made a better product with the Governor.
i wish S&W had a model offered in a 3in cylinder:(... i just prefer being able to shoot the most type of 410 possible. thats why i got Remington super magnum, versatility for every scenario i use the firearm in.
hunting squirrel ha lmao, the spread with .410 loads is rediculous. you would be lucky to land 5 #8 pellets on a ten foot target that's 30 yards away

@filmerguyman - .45 Long Colt +P is just as powerful as a .44 Mag standard load...suggest you go look at Buffalo Bore's ammo on heavy .45LC ammo.
Heavy .45 Colt +P - 325 gr. L.B.T.-L.F.N.(1,325fps/M.E.1,267 ft.lbs.) - 50 Round Box

Do you know if it will shoot 45GAP as well? I would assume so but pressures run higher than ACP.
