Why do I hear electric tools in the background? I thought they don't use such things. Why not get a compressor and a air nailer and be done with it. Oh I see a little is OK long as it suits their needs, but they really don't condone modern things. Seems like hypocrisy.
Actually - I grew up as a plain, Old Order Mennonite (the ones who drive horse and buggy), and the Old Order Mennonites do not have any beards. Some of the men in the video have beards - it might be a mixture of Mennonites and Amish helping each other build the barn. LOL, I'm actually from NY as well...

ya ya it all depends on which church you attend, cause thats religion right? everyone breaks away from "god" and starts their own thing, perhaps in hopes of being remembered on like "joseph smith" what a bunch of brainwashing crap! waste of skin..... all of em
@LizMarlowe peope today in any other suburban comminity would never even help each other cut there lawns..no one cares about each other in todays age..its all being in a rush and the pursuit of money till u die
there amish cause I have been attending a mennonite church for some time now and the way I stand men are not allowed to have beards we are to be clean shaven
That all depends which Mennonite church you attend... Holdemann Mennonites are quite the opposite, they are supposed to grow beards after being married...
There are so many branches of Mennonites. The old order Mennonites are very much like the Amish - look just like them. I know "conservative" Mennonites (who aren't as "conservative" as the "old order") who were once Old Order Mennonites and they grew up just like the Amish. Some "conservative"-branch Mennonites I know come from the "conference"-era where they were brought up very "liberal" (TV, radio, etc...)
@carolinelandry75 was these older mennonites that even drove black cars cause the older mennonite church I have been attending you are not allowed to have a tv and you are not allowed to listen to radios but you are allowed to listen to acappella christian cds and they are not allowed to have internets
That actually sounds like the "conservative" branch I know of here, but some of these grew up "old order" and were still more conservative than the black-car-driving, non tv/radio/internet variety I associate with. I don't know exactly what their "rules" of conservatism were, but they did not even have clothes washers and I don't think they had cars either, and I'm pretty sure the men had facial hair - in fact, in our more liberal-"conservative" branch (not old order)a few men have beards too.
