@AliceInWonderlandSyn The idiots just keep on coming. Who cares what the announcers say? Watch the play and if you have half a brain you come to the same conclusion that anyone who knows anything about football sees. Intelligent Giants fans see the same thing. Favre took a dive. If you saw the game, you see Favre talking to Strahan before the play and smacking him on the ass. It was completely bogus. Period.
How is this a joke? His options were to do what he did or to run into strahan and take him head on..There was no escaping strahan and unless you are suggesting that the team planned the play to have the offensive line let strahan get by AND favre run over to him then it's a legitimate sack.
@pioneerflex014 I guess you are right, he couldn't have just thrown the ball away. Tucking it and running towards Strahan, then sliding into him was his only option. Anyone who has played football recognizes it for what it was, completely bogus.
@pioneerflex014 so far from right... look favre knew where strahan was coming from the whole game.. somehow he was unblocked & favre did not roll out.. he completely looked over right away knowing strahan was going to come... it's michael strahan.. why not roll out the other way.. LY DOWN FAVRE... LY DOWN.
quit whining people one freebie get over it not like Favre was getting out of this one anyways but what about the other sacks through the year why are you taking that away from him....and anyone says that allen actually holds the record then check the record book lol
Favre obviously eased into the sack, but do you really think he could have gotten away from Strahan there? Ridiculous. It would have been a sack anyway. Why get clobbered.
@Tharris550 barely out of the play action motion, turns to his left, strahan in his face. If he throws the ball away there, that's intentional grounding. Plenty of time? I count about 3 seconds between the start of the play to Favre being sacked.
The real record is 26 by Deacon Jones in 1967. I don't care if it wasn't an official stat until 1982. Jones holds this record until someone records 27 in a single season. By the way, Jones did this in a 14 game season.
Jared Allen has 22 sacks this year.... Allen is really the true single season sack king..... favre would never just fall to the ground, and not take a hit..
Today, Jared Allen should have broken the single season sack record. Too bad the future Viking Favre was buddy-buddy with Michael Strahan. Oh, the irony.
Note the non-block and then Favre rolling right into Strahan then laying down. Totally designed and fake, the saddest part is Strahan is proud of this.
I love how people hate on Michael for this. All he did was get by the tackle and try to hit Favre. Favre pulled a Peyton and saw the sack coming and avoided the hit. Everyone who hates on this record is jealous. Sry cowboy fans, ware is incredible, but no Michael Strahan
@gmen2112 The whole thing was designed for Favre to roll out towards Strahan, who was unblocked (watch the video again as the TE...a TIGHT END...ole's him) and waiting for Favre on the edge. Its sad, its pathetic, and its a mockery of the record. Jared Allen did surpass Mark Gastineau's record today, sadly Strahan is still recognized as the holder.
Im a Cowboys fan here, I don't think the record in general was bogus, but that ONE final sack was complete horse crap. Brett Farve, a HOF QB who is known for his toughness and playing till the end of the snap falling down and not stepping up in the pocket for a pass rusher? Really? Give me a break. That is complete dog crap and people know it. Strahan was a great guy, and a HOF pass rusher but that final sack on Farve was bogus.
@Stoolie33 Yeah id love it He has been my favorite player since 06 a Guininely good man too he deserves it... Has an out side chance this year would need 4.5 to tie it he had 4 vs Phi very unlikely but i never count out Ware
@locke1025 No one Right now but You really think A Smith is better than ware, ware has no one around him and still puts up big sack numbers had 19.5 this year he will get close again A smith has three other good rushers with him and an epic D line (Smith) DWARE is the best 99.5 sacks in 7 years
@AonghusV There we go, now THAT'S what a Giants fan would say. "He wouldn't have seen it was Strahan?????" LOLOLOLOL He knew before the snap, ran over to him, and slid down. He thought he was doing Strahan a favor when all he did was embarrass himself and Strahan for giving him a shameful bogus "record".
@Stoolie33 im not a giants fan. im just saying thative seen it happen like that a few times. Besides its hardly a 'bogus' record because he got in that position, so he still had an amazing year, and you never know, he might have gotten a sack anyway
Glad the video of this is on Youtube. Strahan would have been smart to just deny what is such a sham record. Great player--easily the most ridiculous record-breaking play in any sport. Ever.
Ok so dat was y jerad allen didnt take the record. Qbs wouldnt just lay down for him. Lol
