@ktroje , Well, at least that you like both Apple and Microsoft products. So am I but i'm a Microsoft fanboy. I think somewhere, Microsoft Surface would be available for consumers in the future but it's already available for commericial uses. I think that only a few AT&T stores already have Microsoft Surface.
Interesting. Some of them will be realized in near future, but they should be still expensive at the time of 2019. Common peoples can get these life style in 2029.
@hoo555hoo , all that tech is cool but a video in the newspaper is very funny. I would like to see e-books to replace the school textbooks and newspaper. In which a tablet-like device. That kind of way will help use less paper and save the earth.
Microsoft is actually underestimating the speed at which technology is progressing. I think most of this stuff is possible now, it just has'nt been implemented in such a widespread way.
it has been thought before way back 90's that there would be no more paper and they came to agree to be the country having paperless..why is that so? news paper with - - you can tell...
It's fun to see that they all use stuff that already exist today :D For instance, SeaDragon, PhotoSynth, Surface, Voice recognition, Augmented reality. etc.
The only thing that we cannot do is powerful micro batteries. We can do them as small as a credit card but those nuclear powered batteries only produce around 0.006 volts for 50 years.
those touch paper thin pads exist today. All that technology exists (still expensive though). And anyway microsoft is now working on windows 8 which doesnt use touchscreens but just body movement (so swishing your hand in the air will move the page) and no typing, just voice recognition. just search natal if you dont believe me.
Project natal has nothing to do with Windows 8. It is an xbox "controller" system. What's new (and totally not useful) in Windows 8 is 128 bit computing which should replace 64 bit softwares in about... hooo lets say 15 years or so....
Yes natalwas invented for te xbox but the designersare now using it for windows 8 as well after the heas of micosoft saw how promising it was. als these tings will almost certainly use wieless electricity, not batteries.
I know that! But it has been confirmed that natal will be used in development of a later windows OS. Believe me, i certainly knew what natal was about before you and i certainly know what it was originally invented for!
This would be an amazing time and use of technology for work. It makes me smile at least there's dreaming and work being done to push us forward, at all times.

Hmm... I like the concept, and yeah.... as some have already said. Apple will get there first. Maybe Microsoft will get there first, I don't know. But Apple will probably make it better. That user interface looks hard to use, very messy and confusing. And who knows, maybe there will be another huge company that'll outnumber Apple and Microsoft? Who knows...
I gotta say. Even though I'm a Windows user, I hope that Apple gets there first...
People always say that Microsoft's software will constantly crash if this happened. I'm sure that can be solved if Microsoft made their own hardware and tested the stuff themselves.
human being tendency is to waste as less energy as possible, touching panels/monitors, etc,... takes a lot of it, the future is more in audio undertsnding by machines than in video. How to make your machine understand human language, all the video stuff here...beautiful but against usability: it takes less energy to click on my mouse than to elevate my whole arm into a monitor and touch it. Nevertheless.
yeah that's why the video is from Microsoft... all Apple knows how to do, is make something look flashy, hype it up, and sell it completely overpriced to fanboys like yourself.
@stromboldt Man, I used to hate Apple stuff. I really invite you to take a second look at some of their tech, it really is pretty amazing. The iPad changed my life.
Too bad you'll have to COMPLETELY ditch Windows if you ever want to make this a possibility. Hmm, methinks in 2019 you'll still be heaping bad code and UI on top of the same crapheap you've been using for the past ten years. Oh well.
Kinda reminds me of what manufacturer-distributed Linux will look like in two years (aside from the floaty clear touchscreen displays).
