Very nice aquarium and fishes! Can you tell me what species are that rainbowfish which has silver body and yellow fins? And that one which is half green and half yellow?
@garljr I bought all my fish in local stores except for a C. bleheri pair that I dont think was shown in that video. Problem with buying these fish, many stores have either hybrids or very young, colorless specimens. You need to make sure you're get a pure line fish, and then give it a good environment at home before they will show their true beauty.
@CotonCandyRobotJuice that fish was a female Melanotaenia lacustris. A pretty good looking, very blue one at that. The male was also in the tank and shown in the video, but he was more green. The beauty of those fish is that their colors change and pulsate when breeding, when happy, when startled...a lot of different times :-)
@trojannemo seriously? 'cause I have Parkinson's too, but they're farr from what yours are. Actually, mine look more like the Bosemani, their body is split in 'half' with the yellow colour, just that there are something like stripes down their body..
@protiiooi I don't know what fish you have, they may be M. boesemani instead, they may be adult M. parkinsoni, or they may be hybrids of those two. the fish in question above are juvenile M. parkinsoni, no doubt.
@trojannemo I see a definite incisus, boesemani, lacustris (really nice one) and there are some definite parkinsoni in there just not great specimens. The larger red-finned thing could almost pass as a Goyder River trifasciata but at close look it is some hybrid.
@trojannemo I can see boesemani, parkinsoni, lacustris, incisus, praecox, however the fish at 31 sec although has some colour similarities to a Goyder River tri is definitely a PNG hybrid of some sort judging by the snout and fin structure. I'd say a hybrid of a herbertaxelrodi (which looks to be getting a genetic renaming as trifasciata but we will have to wait) and an incisus. Having said that the light plays tricks. It could be a herbertaxelrodi.
Hey Trojan Nemo. Love your bows!! Are you a Trojan fan? I am.
Any way. Are you dosing your plants. If so are the bows OK with the dosing. Are you using Co2 in your tank? YOur plants look great and I want to know how your growing them if your not using Co2? My rainbows hate Co2 but my plants hate to be without it.
I use trojannemo because my high school mascot was the Trojan - not the condom, the warrior from the Trojan war.
I dose dry powders for the plants as well as excel. I dont have co2 injection but rather 2x diy systems. Fish dont seem to mind, and plants grow ok, not perfect, but could be worse...
this is a very old video, you should check out the newer ones - i have a new tank, new fish and more plants!
@trojannemo Your Herbert Axelrodi is AMAZING. Nice tank...Funny i was a Findlay Trojan in highschool as well. I didn't see any females in there...do you have any? I like you also keep angels with rainbows. check them out at dustinsfishtanks
that's an old video dustin. i have now 13 rainbows, 4 females and 9 males. i also have 6 angels, 15 bluefin killifish, 2 bluespotted sunfish and an albino bristlenose pleco. they all are doing great! check out my latest video so you can see what the fish look like now!

Just got a few of these fish. Yours look amazing. What do you feed them? I find it hard to make my rainbows grow. Are they really slow growers?
