I have 10,000k in my factory halogen housing, but I have glare shields on the bulbs that blocks upward glare. Like on the older Maxima, Benz, and Acura TL

I could have done a projector retrofit but my housings are so small and I can't find a projector that will fit (Malibu) :(

HID's WITH projectors are only 4300k too. No one uses higher than that. Maybe 5000k in some of the non projector ones. 8000k and 10000k look stupid in any housing. Projector HID's from the factory only look purple because of the angle you're looking at them the projector cuts off part of the light beam so you're only seeing that color if you look dead on they're pure white. i dont understand why people get these 10k and higher kits, light output is worse.

look ppl the higher kelvin does not mean higher temp in the bulb and whatever kelvin you have it fer shure burns allot cooler and saves more energy than hologen. OEM halogens are about 65 watts and after market halogens can be up to 95 watts my H.I.D kit (MCULLOCK) has a 35 watt rating

I like the part where they're flashing the high beams on and off thus making their fogs go on and off which will in turn drastically reduce the life of the HID bulbs. That's really bad for them to go on and off like that. And to the person saying 10000k melts wiring. 10000k is only a color temperature. all HID's use the same power. The higher the color temp the less bright the lights actually are. Once the HID's are ignited they actually use less power than normal halogens.

That's so bad for your HIDs.

HIDs need to be shut off for atleast 30 seconds before reigniting to release the gas charged in the bulbs. If it isn't released before reigniting, it can seriously reduce the life of you bulbs. Not to mention damaging the ballasts.

ok, NO it is not illegal to install HID's on a non HID car. at least its all good in the state of nevada. if you are in questioning, then call the police department and ask them. thats what i did and they told me that its ok. and HID's burn at WAYYY less heat than a halogen. so it is not VERY ILLEGAL in all 50 states.

Just a word of advice...HID bulbs/ballasts need to be on for a minimum of 30 seconds before shutting them off. By flashing your lights on and off like that you are most likely going to burn the ignitors on the ballasts or kill the bulbs.

Yes, it is VERY illegal to install any HID bulb into a housing meant for Halogen. Halogens do not focus the beams correctly and create way too much glare. Even at 45 degrees to the right and above the headlights of those trucks you get a lot of glare- that's WAAAY too much. On a good, real HID or retrofit, all you will see from an angle like that is that the light is on, not much else- no spill or glare.
