@bosoxyaz8 theres no such thing as a greatest band ever. esspecially if your gonna include pantera who suck and shouldnt even be mentioned in relation to the cure.
i know, ive been a metalhead more than anything else
@anaemiabag ha ha your funny. well i have about 10 bands that trade off by day which is my # 1. fact is pantera is...was one of the greatest bands in history. so you are wrong. peace.
i´ve heard everything in the last 20 years, thousands of music, bands, albums, songs... but nothing like Pornography. this album is unique, and this track is hypnotic...
i qwanna say this LAURENCE SIMON AND ROBERT THATS THE BEST THATS THE PRIME THE BEST THE CREAM OF THE BAND THE CURE CHECKOUT PORNOGRAPHY ,FAITH,SEVENTEEN SECONDS I recommend these albums u wont be disapointed
Well... bass player here. guys, is not Phil... it's the other half from the Butler bros (Psychedelic Furs)... coz by that time Phil had already run off to produce Seven and The Ragged Tiger in Australia or someplace...
What an incredibly powerful song. Definitely underrated in my opinion. And is it just me or are they all high off their asses? The replacement bass player, can't remember his name, looks like hes had a bit too much xD
i just got done trashing a video someone posted from the "trilogy" DVD. this, on the other hand, is absolutely incredible. i am not worthy to describe it. what i wouldn't give to take a time machine back to this gig.
If you get the track off the cd and reverse it (say in audacity which you can download for free), near the end (which is the beginning of the track forwards) you can hear something, I can't remember what off the top of my head, something from the radio (radio 4?).
my favorite cure song. although i hate the studio version because theres no cool guitar in the intro, and the intro is way too long.....but still amazing song
I like all those songs the most back in that time it was some dark @gray sounding stuff back then.I was around before goth emo people,,.back then the cure was just weird,,you now like the doors in the 60s.They just ahead of them selves by 30 years or so,,,ha ha lol.
simon had to leave the band after the worst gig ever in 1983, when he punched robert in the face... any way, that was the context back then, and yes, phil did ok, but could not get the same energy transmitted...
The bassist Phil Thornally was the producer for the album Pornography & played the double bass in lovecats..so he certainly added something to the cure...

Wow, a black drummer? Haha, and I thought The Cure was like the whitest band ever :P I mean, especially because of the make up and such. But he does his job well.
Pure uncompromising magnificence. Pornography is a steamroller. An anger that crushes you into the ground then puts the boot in afterwards. Magnificent!!
Ahhehhhh i LOVEE IT God this performance is BONECHILLING GOD i love it rock ON ROBERT IN the 80S!LOO AT ROBERT TEAR IS UP ON THE GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This version is absolutely incredible. I think I even prefer the drums in this version to the studio version. Also, Robert seems so... human to me from 1:00 to 1:20.
You have to backcomb and tease your hair. Make sure that you use a really strong hairspray and/or a strong gel! But keep in mind that everyones' hair is different, so I don't know if it'll work for you.. hope it does anyway!!
"In a room as he kills for a prize". It is similar drumming, but the cool thing about the drums on the studio versoin is that they almost sound backwards.

Oh my god. Those boots are perfect!! ah! I want them...this was the best hair, too, i think. Robert has some of the most brilliant fashion sense i've ever seen.
*blush* oh- yeah, and I like the song, too :)
I agree that it is Phil playing bass, but I disagree about Simon's talent level...sure, he's cute and people appreciate it, but he's also very good!

that soooooo is Phil on the bass. he was in the cure's 'lovecats' and 'the caterpilar' vids too, take a look - it's definately him. phil also wrote natalie imbruglia's 'torn' lyrics (or so i've heard), which sound like they could almost be stollen from robert - the cure days must have really rubbed off on him lol.
who knows what type of fender that is? it doesn't look like a tele or a strat. kinda wish he would have name-dropped the band at the end there 'i must fight this sickness, find a cure'...............
That´s a Fender Jaguar. I have one. Many use it. Johnny Marr is currently using a 63 Jaguar with Modest Mouse, Richard Oakes from Suede used it almost all the time outside the Gibson ES 335. Kobain used it too, on the Heart Shaped Box vid I believe. Great guitar.

Reminds me of crazy, insane times. I saw them between 81-83 several times, this song still breathes the athmosphere of that time...schoolmates on heroin, doom all over, but also new music, ways of living, exploring as a 14 year old does. Thank you for uploading!!

srry sr but IMHO simon is not to the cure as sid to the pistols he can actually play and there is no need to unplug his bass
he is not great technically but has ALOT of crative value, not everyone can come up with a bassline like his
He is a bigger part of the cure than any other member except for smith
smith's voice and lyrics+simon on bass= the cure sound
gallup was a member when pornography was recorded and cant imagine any song without gallups bass except for the ones he didnt did

Reminds me of crazy, insane times. I saw them between 81-83 several times, this song still breathes the athmosphere of that time...schoolmates on heroin, doom all over, but also new music, ways of living, exploring as a 14 year old does. Thank you for uploading!!

Jeez, ur words has stricken me;
sometimes I even doubt I lived those times for real... so strange;
This cannot be the same world; what has happened?
