I'm really not seeing the big deal over Jordan yet. Maybe I'll get it - he seems very groove oriented and is a very good drummer. But his solos are all groove-rhythm, not a whole lot of technical in there at all.
Perhaps this shows that throwing in a lot of sick patterns and techniques doesn't mean it has better value than good groove-drumming. Stevie doesn't create noise, he creates a platform for other musicians to blend in. And in his solos he retains that role, which are lacking in drummers today.
Listen to his playing, its opening possibilities more than closing it with insane skills with no where to breathe! Try to get to his groove, it's more difficult than it is!

Yes, I am aware of the difficulty in solid groove drumming.
However, my comments that he has no skills beyond groove does not negate my appreciation for his ability to goove so well.
