  • It's simplistic but a great deal of fun.

  • I'll stick to Dwarf Fortress

  • @1Nickyduncan Im afraid your missing the point but i watched The Code and it's awesome. Thanks mate, I would never have found out without you because im not english im dutch so i rarely watch bbc only for top gear actually.

Good luck with your life and i hope do don't choke on your boyfriends dick. :)

  • @1Nickyduncan im 16 and Im at the 2nd highest possible level of education at my age (i just dont get Greek and Latin). And i wasn't being a dick so why do you act like one? I just haven't got the time for a 15 minute review about a game.

  • @1Nickyduncan Trust me it is XD

  • Very good review man, made me buy it. its on sale on steam today £2

  • srry man but i dont watch ur reviews anymore because there way to long for me :(

  • Great review, man....

  • 0:29 "you take on the LOL of the dwarf overseer"

  • Game being on special & your review convinced me to buy this game.

  • A poor mans Dwarf Fortress.

  • @wesleyfilms And a toaster is a poor man's refrigerator.

Oh wait, no it isn't! They are completely different.

  • @antisocialfatman I wasn't being serious ;P

But for the record refrigerators or better then toasters. It's a well known fact.

  • @wesleyfilms Yeah, fuck toasters!

  • @antisocialfatman That was a really smart retort, good work!

  • @wesleyfilms Except dwarf fortress is free......(loliknowthatsnotwhatyoumeantbutimnotgonnasaythatwithoutthese()alsohavefunreadingthis)

  • Dwarf fortress?

  • @tiagotrinidad Not even vaguely close.

  • @antisocialfatman Could you share your opinion on Dwarf Fortress.

  • This looks pretty good, and I'm definitely considering picking it up.

But do you think you could give a guess how long this game will last, before it starts feeling stale? I don't want to squander 10 bucks for a few hours of fun, I want it to last. Keep up the good work man!

  • @pitzerwoods It's down to how much you care about leaderboards. I played it for 13 (so far) and could easily see playing it for 13 more, and probably a lot more after that.

  • @antisocialfatman That's what I needed to hear.

Being the cheapskate I am, I'll just wait for the next sale. Thanks :)

  • @pitzerwoods fyi

    That sale is here:

for around 18 more hours its on the Steam Summer Camp sale at 50% off.

  • Oh, I'm a dwarf and I'm digging a hole. Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole!

  • is the feeling that you want to get a better score up there with tetris?

  • The whole video sounded like you were about to cum.

9:31 you blew your load and started to go at it again.

  • love the song at 03:35

  • Visually this looks like Dungeon Keeper or the newer strongly inspired by Dungeon Keeper - Dungeons. Is that so?

  • @MisterAAnderson Visually, sure. But I stress in the review that if you want this game to be DK, you're going to find it lacks depth, because it's not DK. It's a very different style of game.

  • @antisocialfatman Thanks, i hope it is, because i found DK requiring to much micromanaging for no reward.

  • lol

  • Good review :)

  • Nice review!

  • I've never played a game like this, would dwarfs!? be a good way to get into the sub genre?

  • @mrc560 I don't see why not.

  • nice job but a pretty long.

  • sphincter tightening experience?

  • Comment removed

  • im also suprised by your score of 'Good'. after watching many of your reviews, and hearing how many good v. bad things you had to say about this game i was expecting and 'Excellent'

out of curiosity do you write a script for these reviews or do you just have notes on key points you wish to make and then make it up as you record the audio?

  • @primate924 I write a full script, but I do improvise now and then.

  • @primate924 So was I He does that a lot ;)

  • It's Friday Friday and tomorrow is saturday and yesterday was Thursday thursday and today is Friday

  • well i wouldnt know

im an american patriot, and i hate the monarchy with a passion

i just subbed cause you review indie games

  • @zzzpr0t4g0n1stzzz And here I was thinking you subbed because of the royal family!

  • and to think everyone raving about it being a dumbed down dwarf fortress clone. How wrong they are.

  • reay good review i think this game looks realy frenetic

  • Huh, it surprises me that the score is Good.

I was expecting Excellent, what with your love of risk vs reward, and as you said, Dwarf's!? execution.

  • @LiamNeesonsDick I don't think the idea merits a 5/5, regardlessof the execution, really. Plus I did criticise some stuff!

  • @antisocialfatman

Yeah, but that the idea doesn't merit a 5/5 is what surprised me.

This game just seems like a perfect conglomeration of risk vs reward mechanics.

  • I really like your reviews, because you judge games for what they are and focus on the aspects that count, unlike most commercial reviewers. Kudos for that. I'm also liking how your focusing on indie games as of late. Do you plan on playing and reviewing Super Meat Boy, or Braid? Would like to hear what you have to say about them

  • @dolgion1 I have no plans to review either, but I can tell you that I think Braid is magnificent, while SMB's controls make it not very enjoyable for me.

  • So thats why you've been playing that so much lol

  • So you pretty much take the role of the Mine Foreman in this game?

  • So this is basically Dwarf Fortress.

  • @kkaayynniinnee

No. This is not Dwarf Fortress.

It's an arcade mining game that focuses on score rather than running a giant dwarven mine.

If you want Dwarf Fortress, play Dwarf Fortress.

  • The professionalism of your reviews is fresh and informative. IGN would even turn a Dwarfs review into an 'It's not CoD' moan video. Keep up the work, you deserve to get paid for this.

  • I'm glad you review so many games that aren't very popular. Big name reviewers don't even touch these games.

  • no use of annotations = happiness

  • you must of been pissed when you got screwed by the flood in the end lol

  • are you british?

you should make reviews more often

  • @zzzpr0t4g0n1stzzz I am English, yes.

If you are confused about my accent, there are dozens of very diverse accents to be found in Britain, but you are not likely to hear them unless you live in Britain. To most of the rest of the word, London is the only part of Britain worth acknowledging.

  • @antisocialfatman i know man! when i was there i went to oxford and there's this awesome science museum there

I coulda spent days there and that was just one place

I wish I could go to England more often

  • @antisocialfatman is that a yorkshire accent i detect?

  • @acrophobe Yes!

  • @antisocialfatman sweet. as a prize i will pat myself on the back.

  • @antisocialfatman review Terraria

  • @TotalGameMaster I will be in a couple of weeks.

  • @antisocialfatman So wait, you're going to review terraria, but not Minecraft?

  • @Neondarkness72 Minecraft isn't really a game per say, it's a sandbox.

  • @Neondarkness72 Yeah. Terraria is more combat oriented and implements RPG aspects.

There is no doubt that Terraria owes its existence to Minecraft, but it's not just Minecraft in 2D. I much prefer Terreria's focus.

That being said, I only own Terreria because someone bought it for me. I don't own Minecraft.

  • @antisocialfatman Thanks for replying. I own both of those games, while they are certainly different, personally, I hated terreria with a passion. While I love minecraft. The combat in minecraft, while not the main focus, is fun to me. The combat in terreria is just annoying and repetitive. You really should buy Minecraft and give it a go. The exploration and building seem so limited in terraria. Not in Minecraft. Can't deny the popularity, even to people who usually hate that genre. Like me.

  • @Neondarkness72 I can't deny the popularity, but popularity means nothing.

  • @antisocialfatman Whoh whoh whoh, lets not get to hasty here. Popularity means nothing? I'm pretty sure it usually means SOMETHING. The internet is popular, and so are mobile phones. I'm pretty sure there's a good reason for that.

  • @Neondarkness72 But those 'good' reasons don't matter if you disagree with them.

  • @antisocialfatman Also, I never said terraria was a bad game, it seems pretty good. I just hate it PERSONALLY!

  • I adore this game, I've tried several times now but failed every time to survive for 60 minute on T-Hardcore.

I disagree about the control issues, I think that the intensity of the game gets even better when it's hard to control.

    Great review as usual.

PS; Ever thought about pirating all these games you want, but can't afford?

  • @GigaBoost Yeah, I can appreciate that, but I feel that the difficulty of a game should always come through its gameplay mechanics, not through the controls. I strongly feel that the mechanism through which you interact with the game should be as transparent as possible.

I would never, never pirate, but I do get some games free from developers. I got Dwarfs!? from the devs.

  • Yay! Another review. I can't watch it at the moment because I'm busy, but if we are focusing on cheep indie games, do you plan on buying or reviewing terraria or Bit.Trip.Beat?

  • @EpicnessInABox I would love to review them both, but I can't afford either. I am entirely dependent on the charity of others right now.

  • @antisocialfatman

Okay, cool, I'll see what I or others can do.
