  • i don't really like the swing either. He also stands really far away from the ball.

    Is that recommended?

  • one plane swing!

  • Press 4 after the video starts.

  • what i don't get is he is tiny .. but he crushes the golf ball... and great swag

  • not strong enough to hold the club

  • i like his swing, finally something unconventional on the tour

  • go to 0:18 to see the swing

  • check out this awesome golf swing , Alessandro Melle Swing - down the line

  • Jamosutube is a punk who chugs the spunk....

  • Rickie Fowler has smoked more cock than Colonel Sanders. He's definitely a queer.

  • Quality post.

  • Wow,so i spelt his name wrong big f'in deal, why what do you where out on the course?maybe a skirt, you knob..!!

  • @schmitty or whatever your name is lmao,Rickys dress sense is called class, modern day and sporty, idiots like you should be banned from utube

  • @Jamosutube Well first of all you spell his name Rickie not Ricky, but i know it can be hard when it's not in the title of the video... Oh wait. But anyways how the hell are his outfits classy? Yea if I ever wanna look classy to an interview or something im gonna wear straight orange fit... haha get real. You all obviously can't take the dick outta your asses and realize reality but thats ok

  • his swing doesn't look great, but who am i to judge. the guy is an awesome golfer!

  • Horrible swing for a pro

  • ewwwww

  • he's a faget

  • @schmitty3100 whats up yur ass?

  • @MrRobeezy29 Nothin's up my ass. It's just that he is gay. Look at the clothes he wears, he looks like a damn orange on the course. How bout the pink fit he wears. And don't say it's stylish cause it's fuckin GAY. And don't get me started on those hats... Dude is a homo

  • @schmitty3100 he doesnt give a fuck what you say thats why he wears it. why do you care what he wears and not how he plays. whats wrong with being ggay anyway? no one gives a shit so why do yu???

  • @MrRobeezy29 What's wrong with him being gay you say? Well i'm straight and don't think you anal pirates deserve a spot in this world. He is a FAG

  • @schmitty3100 He's not gay at all, I remember seeing his girlfriend on the final hole at Celtic Manor. Not that there's anything wrong at all with being gay, grow up and get with the times.

  • @biggiantenormousfish I not saying he is actually gay, he just acts like a fag. And quite with the whats wrong with being gay shit. It's fucked up. You can suck all the dick you want, but ill stick to pounding puss

  • @schmitty3100 How the hell does he "act like a fag" ?! I think you're fighting an uphill battle there bud. Also, if you're going to call him a "faggot", at least spell it right.

  • @mtbking02 How does he act like a fag? Well look at his damn clothes. He looks like a damn fruit cake every round. You Rickie Faggot dick riders need find something else to do.

  • @schmitty3100 yo its two against one schmit just give up. you dont have sex and dont acti like you did just last night. im not gay, but you act like a complete asshole by saying he acts gay. did you even know that he rides motorcylces? he DEFINATELY gets waaaaay more girls than you do.

  • it bugs me that this kid hast won yet he so good

  • its ugly because if you look how low his hands are in the takeaway, its so shallow. Then he drops in inside even more, and then uses all hands to release through the ball instead of using his body. but still it works.

  • the driver he's using is quite long in length

  • look how outside he brings it,,hank haney is having hard on

  • That is like the most boring outfit he has ever wore lol

  • that clubhead changes direction about 6 different times

  • I for one, am a great admirer of Fowler's swing. One of the things I like most is the position at the top of the back swing. Of course it's flat, but that doesn't prevent it from being repeatable. If you have read any of Hogan's books you will know that he believed that a golf swing 'can never be to flat'.

However, the thing I like most is Fowler's position post impact, the perfect example of a full and controlled release (which I regard as the most important aspect of any swing).

  • A lot of guys can get it around a course low, but still have a back when they are 40 years old. Rickie on the other hand, will not be this luck inless he fixes that hip stall after impact...

  • Not the best looking swing but im a big fan of using the swing ur comfortable with instead of molding it to a certain swing. Seems the most consistent players follow this and year after year they finish high on the money list.. Players that mold there swing to mechanically have flashes of brillance, aka justin rose and even tiger lately but when u allow urself to swing freely you leave so much more room for mistakes.

  • having a very flat plane, does rickie hit it pretty high? it seems like with this shot, rickie´s ball starts off with a very high angle.

  • superb

  • How the heck did he miss that golf bag?!

  • 0:20 thats ugly

  • 0:20 omg that looks bad

  • Can u get a little flatter Ricky?

  • He beast!!!

  • he is a prickk

  • Take it from someone who plays and teaches this game for a living. Striking a golf ball well is about three things.....speed..momentum...leverage.....that's it. Ricky swings the way he does because that's how HIS BODY applies those forces the most effective way. The same goes for Tiger, Ernie, Phil, McIlroy, Freddie Cups, and all consistently successful golfers....they have simply found away for their individual bodies to apply force to a golf ball the same way nearly every time.

  • @CarolinasPGApro your 3 things were speed not strike, i think the best strikers have one thing in common, balance, assuming your set-up properly it's about returning to your address position with the correct amount of speed & hands and shaft slightly forward good day

  • I can't see why this swing nothing but bad for the back or consistant shots. The only reason why he's good is tallent, great hand/eye and quick hands. Put him under the pump on day 4 and he'll crumble like a cookie, guaranteed. He'll have no back before 35 years old....

  • @MrAzzatron

under pump? ryder cup 2010 match vs Edoardo Molinari is it enough? This is a the future of golf.. trust me

  • @Benhogan85 I can understand Rickie is young and good for now. Because of his small size, his only resort of obtaining power and touque is through his lower back and legs. Remember, or this might be before your time, the great Seve ballesteros before his back problems? Seve was informed about this years before at one of many British Opens he attended. The "Next One" is Rory Mcilroy-fact

  • So flat

  • He is a low hand float loader. Which makes him a tremendous ball striker. His swing is unique not ugly at all. Actually it is quite impressive. Not everyone has to swing like Ernie Els.

  • visit rickiefowlerforum

  • It's a fast paced swing, I really like it, very relaxed. He just needs to take his time on the carpet.

  • Great swing Rick!

  • horrible swing but he is a good golfer

  • I think he's really going to have a tough time playing well week to week with such a flat swing. There are a lot of things that can go wrong when you swing that far off the swing plane. Sergio is a wonderful golfer, but struggles to play well every week because of how unconventional his shoulder turn is. This kid has loads talent, and the flash to become a star.

  • I think it's funny how everyone corrects him and tells him "what he should do in his swing is..." he is the proffesional

  • Doesn't look one iota like Hogan through the ball. More lag than his post impact pivot can sustain. Flip city. Timing dependant. Hogan had that kind of lag down but managed to cut it left and truly keep the club on plane post impact. Very different protocols. The lag on the way down is only one part of the puzzle. The more important part is what you do post impact.

But then the swing is only one part of the golf puzzle too. If you hole everything you look at you can make almost anything work.

  • ill be surprised to see him contending every week with that swing

with such a fast swing you need to be mechanically sound, and i just cant see a swing as complicated as that being consistent under pressure

yeah he will win some tournaments

but i dont think he will be a consistent winner on tour

  • I would have him stand closer to the ball at address, especially with a driver as seen here. Also if you pause at 0:21 you can see how far his hands have moved outside the line of his eyes from address, this will cause lots of hooks . Otherwise I must as a golf instructor admit that his swing is balanced and has good rotation. When Tiger started out his swing was pretty rough around the edges too, all Fowler needs is a good swing coach.

  • i've played him, he's horribly cocky

  • worst swing on tour

  • Hogan had a flat swing but he only saved it by cupping his wrists at the top, prior to that he had major hooking problems.

  • lol I never realized how terrible that swing actually was until I saw it on here. lol @ him being as good as he is with a swing this ugly. just pure talent.

  • Not a very technical swing but great balance and he does the same exact movement in every shot so this is just one more example that you don't need a perfect swing to be a great golfer..

  • that swing is so fuckin strange

  • sucks

  • his swing reminds me of hogan without the cocked wrist

  • I really don't see what's so "ugly" about his swing. It reminds me of Sergio Garcia's, they both make the same move on the way down and no one says anything about Garcia's beside how spectacular it is. He's just creating a shitload of lag which is why he hits it a mile at only 5'9".

  • He's definitely not a big guy. I think it works for him because he has had a wonderful teacher who has taught him since he was a toddler. The swing has developed as he's developed and is setup to maximize his individual strenghths.

  • Yeah I mean clearly you don't need perfect positions throughout the swing to be good. As long as you can make a consistent move and you have a good impact position it doesn't matter what you do before that. I think he's swing is pretty badass personally. And they said he's never used video to learn his swing, I thought that was pretty cool.

  • @8cantrell5

Check out Rickie's swingvision vid from face on this year (at the memorial i think). I swear to God the man is gumby!

  • Who is his coach ?

  • Barry McDonnell. the instructor at the Murrieta Valley Golf Range. He's the only coach Rickie has ever had.

  • @zenchili he needs a new one

  • @zenchili go barry MURRIETA FOR LIFE HAHA

  • @vinceo2b Yeah I don't think he actually has a swing coach because he's a feel player and no one taught him that swing it's like Jim Furyk's not people can teach that. He has a lot of talent and he told Golf Digest he taught himself, no coach, never read a golf book, and he only looked in the pictures of one once for fun.

  • @vinceo2b He was shot after teaching Rickie, i hope.....

  • @vinceo2b

    his coach is Mr. Garbage

  • @8cantrell5 Sergio's swing is ugly, the way he drops it on the downswing is so exaggerated. Its the complexity of his swing that is causing him trouple now as he gets older and its the same reason Fowler is unlikely to win a major. Thats just how I see it though.. Others may see pure beauty and I can respect that. Personally I cant watch Fred Couples enough. You cant tell if its a PW or a driver in his hands he swings so consistently..

  • @ollycopter his lack of being able to make a 8-12 footer is why he is struggling. Sergio is one of the better ball strikers on tour. But yeah, Couples has one of those swings I could watch all day.

  • @8cantrell5 your'e kidding me right? there's nothing similar between garcia's swing and fowlers swing!

  • @lilgangstabowwow I'm talkin down swing man and in that case, yes they are very similar particularly the lag they create.

  • @8cantrell5 His swing is what works for him and I like it personally. Has to have crazy good timing! Also notice how as he starts to unwind his hips, the shoulders and upper back are still turning back!

  • @8cantrell5 Lag is the "secret of golf." Good analysis on your point.

  • @8cantrell5 he gets flat and under the plane at the top, but he's athletic and a great ball striker so he can get it squared back up nicely.

  • @silowhore actually on closer inspection probably not too flat really, similar to shaft angle at address, just a flat looking swing in general

  • @8cantrell5 people trash Sergio's swing all the time. it is equally as "ugly"... but mechanically sound... which is why they are such good players. furyks swing is "ugly" as well... but hes still one of the best ball strikers ever. i dont think anyone means bad when they say ugly here.

  • such balance through the swing

  • Its not the best swing i've seen but it works!

  • That isnt a one plane swing. His swing is all over the place but it works.

  • @hotboy326 his shoulders and left arm are on the same plane at the top of the swing, i define that as one plane

  • Actually a one plane swing is when the path the club travels back and down, as well as the angle of the clubface at the top of the swing, all match the same angle/plane of the shaft at address. So its not quite a one plane swing. Tiger's in that swing portrait video is a one plane.

  • thats really flat at the top of the swing

  • look at his shoulder turn and then how hard

    he fires his hips

  • That, my friends, is a one plane swing. Before you call it "too flat" and "ugly" take a look at Ben Hogans position at the top. This kid is good!

  • his swing is way too flat

  • that was sick

  • Can he bring it on the PGA ?

  • @Rick102667 He did really well in the fall series when he didn't have his card. He's really talented. I think he'll do just fine.

  • @Rick102667 He has

  • holy shit its worse than Furyks

  • Its such an ugly swing.

  • i'd like to see his grip

  • His grip is pretty normal, nothing unusual in that department. Anyone with a proper understanding of physics and geometry will know that the flatter you swing the straighter you can hit it. Flat can cost you distance, unless you have a naturally fast pivot. All the great ball strikers tried to be as flat as they could be with their hands as low as possible at impact....Norman, Norman, Knudson, Player, Hogan, Trevino, Faldo (new swing)....the list could go on....

  • Will he be as good as Rory Mcilroy?

    Answer. Never.

  • he is gunna be better.

  • theyre both gonna be fun to watch. i hope they tear it up in the PGA.

    GOLF RULES!

  • @05370884 I second that!

  • kids a beast. Great short game and he has has the length. Pretty ballin putter too.

  • @YoshNaGosh Yeah. The kid can play and he brings it every time out.

  • he is a beast. look forward to watching this kid blow up and stay on top. rors too!

  • its actually quite amazing that he doesnt hit any massive hooks with a swing that flat!

  • i was hitting balls next to him on the driving range, he is got some extreme lag in his wrists, and struck the ball pure every time

  • flatter than paris hiltons chest

  • so flat you could balance a glass of on water on his arms at the top

  • I bet you guys his swing is pretty short here as well.

Make a swing with a short armswing and yours will look flatter too.

    Someone find a face-on...

  • hav a waorse swing btw!

  • I dont really like the swing, but if it works for him then he doesnt need to listen to anybody.

  • i love his finish

  • Not the best swing.

  • i think i jus saw matt kucha's swing

  • Matt Kuchar's swing is also really flat. But I think Rickie's is flatter.

  • what a spastic!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome 2ft before impact, at impact and 2ft after, the rest doesnt matter!!!

  • sergio

  • wow how hes seriously talented to hit the ball consistantly from those swing positions!

  • He is really talented. I can't even get the club into those positions. I think hogan also had a very flat swing. Most golfers are way too steep.

  • @zenchili I agree. Too many people are critical of Ricky's swing. I think it is really like Hogan's and Ricky seems to keep the club on plane the entire swing, something most pro's don't do.

  • Just goes to show you there's a ton of ways to swing the golf club. It doesn't get any flatter in the swing plane than that but obviously it can work. The only thing the really matters in the golf swing is where you are halfway through your downswing. All great players are pretty much in the same place.

  • Most sensical thing I have read about Fowler so far in these Youtube comments. I agree with you. Results are the bottom line. The "rest of the blueprint" counts too but people do all kinds of things to hit the ball well, which of course is the goal in hitting a golf ball.

  • because we are buds. hes only 4 years older than me, he goes to the same high skool as me, we have the same coach, and we played at the same course as kids. i got his number in my phone, jus wished him good luck tomorrow.

  • Hogan had a flat swing too...his saying goes

"The flatter the swing, the fatter your wallet"

  • well considering tiger has made 1000 times more then both of them with an upright swing ide have to say thats false.

  • H.H. has actually shallowed out Tiger's swing plane. The evolution of a golf swing.

  • Well in those days the prize money was much smaller...Tiger said himself that Hogan and Moe Norman owned their swings..

  • Did he actually say that??

  • such a flat swing wow!

  • thanks for the video.. i been looking for it for such a long time.. pls post more of this.. especially with rickie striking iron.!!! as everyone say he struck them with authority..!!! thanks..

  • Unfortunately I don't have any oh him striking an iron. However, I could post some videos of other pros.

  • too bad.. but if you happen to have one.. pls post it.. :)

and pls.. pls post more of these good quality vids.. thanks.......

  • Get ready golf world, this kid is going to rule the PGA/WGC etc and slow Tigers progress to his 70-80 wins. Give them hell Rickie!!!

  • mcilroy owns him

  • Not going to happen cervantes8b. He'll be top 25 no problem. But Tiger will not be intimidated by his cockiness. I've seen Fowler dominate people simply by his presence, but the boys on the PGA aren't going to. By the way, tiger already has 71 wins, and he'll eclipse Jack early 2010, and Snead in early 2011. Tiger will break 100 wins before he retires.

  • Hey b4 u start callin Fowler cocky why dont you get to know him a lil bit... like actually meet him or something you know??

  • I think he's going to do just fine as a pro. It is absolutely amazing to me how flat his swing gets. Although I don't recommend it for everyone it sure works for him. And I think most golfer could learn from it as well. I know I've been a bit too steep but slowly my swing is transitioning to something better.

  • Ive had the opportunity to play with rickie at least 50 times and he makes the best sound with his irons ive ever heard... i also take lessons from his childhood coach and i would be shocked if rickie doesnt do it on tour... he has the best mental atitude ive ever seen and its all thanks to big b( his coaches nickname)

  • When you say he has a great mental attitude, do you mean he's cocky or placid or something different?

  • How have you played with him 50 times?

  • just from that comment i know that youre a bum. what does it matter if hes flat. he phenominal through the impact zone and his ball striking is amazing. when you tear it up on the nationwide tour as an am then you can criticize

  • horribly flat
