  • The main files you should try to backup are the ones most important to you. So things like your documents, photos, videos, etc..

  • Hey can you me how to chose the files to back up cos i have a virus and i dont want it to be in my new win 7 too!

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Just what I needed to know in a simple easy to follow format. You saved my arse.

  • Data recovery software is really a good thing, MiniTool data recovery software is a good choice for you. It is easy to use and it is efficient.. some of the editions are absolutely FREE!!!!!!!! Any of you need it can have a try.

  • Cannot restore my files backed up on DVD from Windows Vista to Windows 7. If I clicked Backup Computer instead of Backup Files, how do I recover & restore these files?

  • @gilweiser That's a good question. It should work. You may want to post a question in the microsoft forums to see if the experts there can help.

  • can i put the same backup files i backed up on the the dvd back on the same computer like put vista backup files back on my vista computer

  • @animefan035 If I understand what you are saying, then I think you should be able to do this.

  • @howto4u yeah i was just saying back up files in vista and restore on vista instead of 7 like in your video

  • @MRFINALFANTASYFANNB That's a good question. I don't believe you can do this using the backup utility because 32bit and 64bit applications for the most part aren't compatible. You could though copy all of your personal files to an external hard drive then copy them to your upgraded PC later.

  • can i use system restore to downgrade 7 to vista?

  • @TheAbrenica No. You would need to have a Vista install disc and then install it.

  • hey Bob can i back up games too?

  • I should be able to use usb too,no?

  • @Estonian7 I believe you can use USB also.

  • Thanks Bob :)

  • Thanks Bob ! XD

  • If I have an external hard drive that I am borrowing from a friend, will using the Backup and Restore Center delete his files and replace them with my backup files? Or will it just add to it? Like I said I'm just borrowing it while I upgrade to Windows 7, so I don't want to delete his files.

  • I get this "the remote procedure call failed (0x800706BE)" when i tried to back up files, wtf?

  • @snakeboy9999 try googling "0x800706BE backup" and then see the first result, which is a microsoft answers forum thread.

  • @snakeboy9999 u need to free up more space on ur cpu or back up and restore center will not work u need at least 37 or 38 free gb to make a backup work (windows vista owner)

  • glad to see your vid. However, I had to get to a level 2 tech at MS to acknowledge this, and even then I think he was only saying that it could be done as a guess to shut me up. :-/ I expected better of MS support. Thankfully I got free support b/c I was looking at upgrading vista to 7...

  • Can I do this in reverse? In other words If I create a backup on 7 can I restore them onto a vista machine?

  • thanks a mil

  • can u back up your files on your hard drive?

  • simple yet good vid

  • Hey, for a really long time, the back up on Vista has just said "Copying Files to G:\" (G being my disc drive). The green bar hasn't moved any in a while. I started it last night before I went to sleep and it was doing fine, but my computer went to sleep while I was sleeping. When I shook the mouse ti wake it up, it won't back up any more files. Do I need to start over? I am running a Windows Vista Laptop by Compaq. Thank you a lot for the video. Getting 7 soon!

  • @MrBogantilla start over. lol this might be a bit late though

  • yea, I figured it out. thanks anyways
