@shonnaboo Jeter had another mental breakdown in Shanghai & underestimated her opponent. She's like Asafa with those mental lapses from which they both suffer time to time, but she'll get it together. This was still a pretty good run here. My concern is CJ's trajectory @ the end of the race when she veers to the right of her lane. I've noticed this often in her racing so I hope her coach, John Smith, corrects this immediately as this loses precious 100ths here & there.
@beebeechitown Thank you. This could have been a 10.82 had she run in a sraight line. Jeter is strong, but I'd like to see her run more 200s like Fraser-Pryce. With 10.64 & 10.73 speed, CJ & SAFP ought to be running 21.7s with ease. Calling on Merlene Ottey to come out of retirement to coach. Ottey was the most consistent 200m specialist - ever - in my opinion. She'd bust 21.6s, 21.7s & 21.8s with precision. Merlene paid attention to the technical aspect of running 200m. However, Jeter is on.

@beebeechitown I feel ya. It's okay to be proud of one's own countrymen, but there are a few who are way too extreme. Good sprinters hailing from JAM & the USA is nothing new. Each nation has a rich legacy of which to be proud. But I'm always troubled by some of the dialogue posted on here. It happens every track season. The focus ought to be on the athletes. But perhaps was just a failure to execute more so than anything mental. And I think she tends to veer towards the side of the runner closest to her. If she's not doin that then she's busy looking at the clock 2-3 meters before the finish line.

SAFP's start was just awesome in the 200m she ran in Kingston & she maintained most of her speed. CJ may run a PR, but I don't think she'll do much. I'm hopin' that she & SAFP forces AF to run a much harder curve. That's her weakness & she relies too much on her top-end speed to catch folk. So Eugene is huge in my opinion.

With 10.64 & 10.73 speed, CJ & SAFP ought to be running 21.7s with ease. Calling on Merlene Ottey to come out of retirement to coach. Ottey was the most consistent 200m specialist - ever - in my opinion. She'd bust 21.6s, 21.7s & 21.8s with precision. Merlene paid attention to the technical aspect of running 200m. However, Jeter is on.

@beebeechitown I feel ya. It's okay to be proud of one's own countrymen, but there are a few who are way too extreme. Good sprinters hailing from JAM & the USA is nothing new. Each nation has a rich legacy of which to be proud. But I'm always troubled by some of the dialogue posted on here. It happens every track season. The focus ought to be on the athletes. We can applaud & critique their efforts all in the name of good sportsmanship without disrespecting each other. Agree to disagree sometime

@kmb9624 You sure it was a "mental breakdown?" maybe VCB is just faster or was on that day.. I admit that Jeter HAS to be consistent with her starts in order to beat VCB. But perhaps was just a failure to execute more so than anything mental. And I think she tends to veer towards the side of the runner closest to her. If she's not doin that then she's busy looking at the clock 2-3 meters before the finish line.

SAFP's start was just awesome in the 200m she ran in Kingston & she maintained most of her speed. CJ may run a PR, but I don't think she'll do much. I'm hopin' that she & SAFP forces AF to run a much harder curve. That's her weakness & she relies too much on her top-end speed to catch folk. So Eugene is huge in my opinion.

in fairness to CJ she has never been to the olympics and shelly has only been to one so lets give this some perspective the only woman ever to win two consequtive olympics and the only woman besides shelly to hold both world and olympic titles is the Great Gail Devers along with three world title in the 100m hurdles so both shelly and carmelita jeter has some way to go before they are included with the greats ie, merleen, flo jo, gail dever, gwen torrence, evelyn ashford of track and field

@beebeechitown Jeter is only good in non-Olympic seasons... She gets smoked in World's and doesn't even qualify for Olympics.. Who cares about #1 last year, Shelly went home because of outrageous pain pill sanction and Stewart didn't even bother to run and wear herself out..
