Have I commented here before? I think I have. It's fun to watch after having done the show before. I played Abby, and this Martha is WAY better than the person I was stuck with.
This is a great production. Don't dignify the haters with a response; they don't know what they're talking about. There are lots of little touches, both in production and in the acting, that make this amazing. For example, I love how Abby visibly deflates at 10:04 when Martha says "No."
I feel like I missed something at 1:25:18. What was Jonathon's answer to Dr. Einstein questioning the murder in Phoenix? Did he mention some sort of train station?
I'm playing Mortimer in my college show. A slight suggestion: I might be a good idea if some annotations were put up, so that viewers who want to can skip to Act 2, and to both scenes of Act 3. Thanks for posting this!
@JRothVideos Yes, this is the original version of play. There are some minor changes from the movie, but overall is pretty faithful to the original story. :)
I'm thinking about trying to put this on at my high school. Do you all think it's school appropriate? It's hillarious and the set is very good by the way. :)
@TheLastDingoTV Yup, this is a very high school friendly show. I've heard of a number of schools doing it. It's light and there are a lot characters to cast. Thanks for the comment!
I'm Teddy... CHARGE!!!!! So much fun! I must admit, Teddy was kinda small in his part. He wasn't very... well... big. His charge was... meh. But I guess he did do it in a more civilized manner. His entire part was like a sane, civilized president than a rough-rider who made it to the white house. I guess its just two different views on the same man.
I'm doind Elaine for my schools play. I'm kinda nervous since I've never been in a school production before. I'm wacthing this to help me learn my lines!
I think my protrayl of Elaine as her a little moe bold than this actresses, but she does a really good job too!! Lolz...My brother is going to be Jonathan in the play!
@idkyigtssn Einstein has heart. He's only like, quasi-evil. Not nearly as bad as Jonathan. Comic timing is everything with him too, since he's always played against Jonathan who is generally pretty evil. Most of all, have fun with it!
This show is awesome! I was just cast as Mortimer in my high school play and i am defiantly giving some consideration on how your actor for Mortimer played the role. Great job to him and the entire cast.
I got the part of Elaine Harper for this show and I'm super excited! Never before in a show have I gotten to kiss/make out with anyone and be man handled by a guy!
i am playing einstein in my school's production and all i have to say is this version was done terribly!the old ladies sound like they are 30 jonathan isnt scary teddy is just boring etc etc. the actors show no emotion at all and their is little movement on stage making it even more boring
Thanks for posting this. Great interpretation of the play, and good quality video also. I just shared the link with my castmates. We are just getting started. King Avenue Players, Columbus, Ohio... Open April 22, 2010.
I played Einstein in my high school play my Senior year, and before I tried out for the part I watched this play. May I just say OMG, I loved what you guys did, and your play really helped my with my part. THANK YOU!
I was just cast as Mortimer in this production and I am really liking it so far. With this specific show, I really liked the aunts and elaine. Teddy and Mortimer, however, were below par for me. Teddy's "charge" was very weak and Mortimer could have been a little more physical and should have had MUCH more vocal variety. All in all though, the cast worked well together and put on a great performance. Congrats.
i'm sorry. most of the people do really good, but as someone who has played teddy in a school play i have to say the guy playing teddy here sucks. he doesn't put any enthusiasm in the charge and just sounds dead. i pretty much screamed out charge and got tons of laughs for it.
I love the character of Mortimer, but the man who they cast as him performs differently both physically and emotionally than I pictured when I read the script.
hi i am frum Bainbridge-Guilford ms hs and our play of arsenic and old lace is preforming tommorw and saturday. tommorw at 7 30 sat, at 2pm and also 7 30! cum and enjoy!
Sorry Mort, but I gotta call you out: 37:03 "Don't leave this house..." should be "Don't let anyone in this house,..." haha. That's the only one I caught though.
I love this performance, I watch it almost every morning.
Good try. but the comedic timing is a bit off here. You only got laughs because of the script...which is also not that funny. I'm playing Jonathan and I think my comedic timing is a little better. At least I hope it is. Very very flat performances. Sorry I'm just being honest. I hope you guys didn't get paid for this. Martha and Abby deserve oscars compared to theses actresses. My take on Jonathan is much more comedic. Its like a mix between Dr. Evil and the emperor form Star Wars. So yeah sucky
I am about to perform as Mortimer--we only have until December 13th. I'm nervous, so I'm listening to this to reinforce my lines subconsciously. Thanks! :)

You'll do grand! I think once when I was looking up plays to do with my homeschool group,we had a chance to do "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the time I had never even seen the movie or read the play for that matter so we passed it up for another murder mystery.
Really wish I could do this play. It's one of my favorite productions. "Little Shop of Horrors" is another I enjoy watching as much as "Arsenic and Old Lace"!
Be sure to keep the reactions to a maximum as Mortimer! lolol

lol, if i could, i would. unfortunately, two complications.
1. there's no guarentee i'll get the part of Mortimer. there's a lot of competition from many talented actors in the company.
2.our theater company does not record it on film. I live in a small town where such things don't happen very often. we did try to record one play on video that i was in (Gramercy Ghost) but the film got lost somewhere.
