I have not seen ny infoation on how the fire started? Did the garage catch fire first? How many cars were danaged? As far as the differences in fire fighting lets top all ths figting type talk. There is more than 1 way to fight fires. I was in an exsporer post via the boy scouts for a time and have friends who are ff's in Minn. here in mn. air pack should have been in use while on the porch. All of you FF's Just need to stay safe!! Do that all of you please! Thank you
I love how in all the responses on these videos people act as if they are apart of the best FD in the US! If you were not there and you do not know what the circumstances were ( no fire is perfectly set up upon arrival ) then shut up! This is not a supervised burn, it is an actual call for those of you who have never been on one ; ) Most of you are probably 400lb fools who wish this were you in the video.
One more thing say for all of you cocky career firefighters, watch your tongue because it may be a bunch of poorly trained and poorly funded vollys dragging your ass out. Remember Everyone Goes Home! If your going to criticize try helpful criticism we all have a common goal!
One obvious thing I would change when pulling up to a fire scene with obvious signs of fire ( first part of the video heavy black smoke showing) you know your going to need a large amount of water to counter the large amount of fire. Try switching to a 2 3/4 to help knock down the fire outside and proceed with your hand line through the front door. Theres nothing wrong with vollys some day you career boys may be out of a job.
Once again not bad for poorly trained and funded volley dept. also didn't know the fan is a door chock cause that is def too close to opening to be effective. Check the proper recommendations on distance from the opening, also i think the homeowners insurance co. will love you guys fro giving them video of your dept.'s negligence and all the comments both written and in the video( love the curse words describing the owners van!). Def an insurance adjusters dream, lol. genious!
ok ok ok ok ok ...who is the dumbass without a air pack on on the front porch....ur not supposed to be in the hot zone without a air pack on...god i hope the state fire marshall doesnt see this or u guys are in a shit load of trouble.....idiots!
its amazing how taking a line into a burning house makes the fire go out... i guess they finally got the wet stuff on the red stuff...good job though...
Frankly, I too have been the monkey and the football...things dont alway go as great as you would like...everybody is an expert on some one else's fireground...nice job with good video edit with helmet cam included helped to get better idea what you were dealing with...stay safe....
Sounds like I struck a nerve. Thats what I wanted. Now that my chores are done and mommy gave my puter back, I'll reply. When the home owner, who was at home at the time of the fire, meets you in the front and says no ones inside, I tend to believe him. As for the number of calls you run, who cares. I looked for your videos, but I couldn't find any. Seems like all the trash talkers have nothing showing us how good they are. Figures.
Exactly... most people on here are posers... so any who... It is our department where I live SOP to question the homeowner if possible to see if anyone is inside. If they say no, we do not search the house... that is wasting time and putting lives at risk that shouldn't be put at risk. Case Closed.
For starters, you refer to RECEO in an earlier post. How do you know for sure that nobody was in there? Because someone told you? You search whenever possible. Never take anyones word that there is nobody inside.
As for the comment about how many fires I run. If you consider 4,000 runs for the engine , 1,000 runs for the truck and about 1 fire per week not much then I guess your are right.
Now go make sure you finished your chores before your mommy takes your computer privileges away.
Last but not least, krichards816. Put your glasses on and get closer to the screen man!! Did you totally miss the 4 men that went in the front door?! Standing up no less due to that 100 mph wind! LMFAO!! And for you guys with the positive things to say... Thank You. We appreciate the views and keep checking back. We'll get you some more to watch as soon as we burn something else. STAY SAFE
Now your turn resqcompany. If my explanation of the 3 minutes for the first line in the front and why the fan was there before the handline isn' t sufficient then you must not run many fires. You ever hear of Murphy's Law? Well, Murphy was working overtime that day. As far as a job well done, it could have been better. But, it could have been way worse too. If you've done the job for even a short time, you know like I do that some days you're the monkey and others you're the football.
And as for you andypomeroy, you are the reason I'm replying. I believe you said,"This video is very embarrassing to the fire service." First off, I looked for some of your fire videos and couldn't find the first one. What did you do, read a book and become an expert on fire attack.? As for PPE for everyone, everyone I saw was wearing what was required. I'll make only one suggestion for you and thats impress me. Show us what you've got. It's so easy to talk shit when you don't know whats up.
And chimojavi...we don't do roofs. We also don't run around a house breaking every window to vent either. Thats why PPV works. If you open 1 or 2 places opposite the fan, all the heat and smoke goes out there. Break all the windows and it won't work. As far as cutting holes, yeah, I love tearing shit up like the next man, but why do unnecessary work. We have max staffing of 19 to 23, so no need to kill yourself early.
If you had actually watched the video, you would have the smoke conditions change completely. Instead of pushing out of every crack, it all goes out the back. All thanks to that 100 mph wind in the front door mookieafd114. Wtf is that the fan helped more than you'll ever know because you obviously don't have a clue how it works to begin with. And bmac161, the charlie side exposure was gone before we ever got on scene. This fire had a big jump on us before we ever got knocked out.
When E5's driver charged the line that went to the front door, the discharge handle broke and since the pump panel was on the side away from the fire, it was some time before he realized the line was still dry. After the line was dis-connected and hooked to another discharge, water was put on the line. Thats when E4 and T1's crew went in and the fan was set in the door behind them. For you guys that are talking trash about the fan, try reading up on PPv before you flap your lips.
The reason the fan was at the door before the handline is because the first line went to the exposure on side delta. We knew we had an all clear on the structure so thats why the first line didn't go to the front door. Haven't you heard of RECEO VS? The R took care of itself. The E is for exposures. Thats why the 1st line went there. 1st arriving was E5. 2nd was E4 after clearing from the medical. 5s crew went to the exposure and 4 an T1's crews went to the front door.
The man acting on E3 heard that it was a working fire, knew that 2 units were out of service, and knew he should have been dispatched. he got on his ride and came the scene without wasting time callind dispatch center and waiting to be knocked out. The first PFD unit on scene was Fire Rescue 4 which is our medic unit. The last time I rode it, it didn't have any water. 2nd arriving was the BC. His Explorer doesn't have water either. 3rd arriving was T1, a tractor drawn with no water either.
Let me start by saying that you are seeing 10 minutes of 90 minutes of footage. This is how it all went down. First due was E4. They were tied up on a bs medical call way out on the other end of their area with no quick way back to the fire. This house was a 4 to 5 minute run if they had been in quarters. 2nd due is E5 with a 7 to 9 minute run. 3rd due was E2. they were tied up on a bs medical with a drunk. E3 wasn't dispatched due to a dispatching error.
1 line to the fire. 2nd line backing up first. search and rescue. vertical ventilation. exposure line. PPE for everyone. Just a few suggestions. This video is very embarrassing to the fire service.
I dissagree, they did a good job. A total lack of any seach and rescue indicates that it was confirmed that no one was inside. And I'd rather stay off that roof, it just might be a little weakened by fire in the attic.
If you think they did a good job then you are a fool. Almost 3 minutes to get a line in place at the front door. Grab a fan before pulling a line ? Stupid.
Was a nice video. Loved how you used PPA on this fire once you went in the fan kicked in and the smoke basically stopped ocming out everywhere except where it was already vented. Quick stop on the house. Awesome job. Stay safe
they should have attacked the fire from the front like they did because if they would have attacked from the back they would have faned the flames to the front this has happend to a department i ran to helped out the fire was in the back and they attacked from the back and then the whole house went up good vid tho!
Its called PPA (Positive Pressure Attack) Works well when used properly pushed heat and smoke out of the house so you can quickly advance on the fire and put it out.
Yeah, it did really well for the side 3 exposure. LOL. I bet the owners appreciated that. Exterior attack on arrival, let's add a hurricane to it. Unbelievable.
Awesome!
