Wow! Fantastic to see such an early Bowie song. This is clearly before the Ziggy Stardust period, when he was in a band with his wife Angie and Tony Newley? Amazing how Bowie only gets to sing the second verse too, just shows how generous he was to give Angie the first bit.
@LarryFlames I didn't even write that comment for your info. Somehow my account has been hacked into by some other idiot who has been leaving deroatory comments on things that thing that he/she knows I lke or want. I want this c.d. this and am having a hell of a time trying to locate just one copy.
I've been a huge Bowie fan since I saw him at the Long Beach Arena, CA around '72 during Ziggy days right before the Santa Monica show.
Isn't the new bootleg called "Toys in the Attic" anyway.
I am crazy, or the part that all sing reminds some part in Saviour Machine (album The Man who sold the World). It is the first thing I thought while listening
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel Yep. She and Bowie had something romantic going until she left him for some dancer fella. Really did a number on his heart. But now the Thin White Emperor has his Slim Dark Empress
@LornaEGL I know this is a bit late to post to a comment made one year ago but Bowie admitted in an interview that the break with Hermoine was his fault. He said and I quote "I just couldn't keep it zipped."
Am I the only one to get 3 separate entries of the same outstanding contribution? I am the 'freakingevilgenius' of You-tube comment entry - ya no shit, sherlock!!!
I like charlieidx's comment - who are they? rejects from the first audition of "chitty chitty bang bang". Their 'work group' came up with this ( they'd just come from "Hair" and were very drunk ).They are Hutchinson and Farthingale of course. They ugly one is Hutch - not quite ugly enough for the Childcatcher but too old for a child whose arse had just been smacked! No, Dave ( the real star ) took a backseat here - 'peace Man' and all!!!

@BearWindAppleyard Oh no ! Bowie had one brother ( I'm quite familiar with his biography ) and he was in a mental hospital by this time ( he was schizophrenic ).
thanks for posting this!!! i somehow got the song stuck in my head so came here to find it. Great old video, I still have this on vhs with some other Bowie gems!
@LiloPelakai Yes, that was a glib comment from a frothy, uneducated fan of Bowie. I now know that the song here was from HIS promotional film 'Love you till Tuesday' so obviously he wasn't underexposed.
In America, there was a comedy show called the Dick Van Dyke show, and they had a Christmas special where they sang, we all are fine musicians, we practice every day... I think that must have inspired Dave.
Yours is the better sound quality of this upload. I use to have the original acetate pressing of this track from 1968. Mine was the engineers copy I believe.

There is a hint of Saviour Machine in there. I just read about it on wikipedia.

I like the way only Dave has the slightest idea of 'playing the guitar'. The other two may as well be playing Guitar Hero.

@charlieidx Bowie is the only one strumming, the other two are finger picking, which is actually much harder.

It seems Bowie borrowed some part of the music from this song for his own "Saviour Machine" from the Man Who Sold the World-album.
