Its a pity that the brown trout numbers have halfed in the last 10 years in the south island east coast rivers due to water extraction from intensified dairying.

Also, a lot of the upland spawning streams are being periodically silted up due to lack of control in forestry. Intensive farming has wiped out NZ flyfishing - better to spend your money in Argentina.

easy as mate i live in taupo trout fishing meca of the world any one can do it if you know how to fly fish

@gs550caferacer It's easy. You just need the TIME.... I spent six months doing it and caught a lot of beautiful fish. If you're a trout fisherman, you will not have any trouble finding fish in NZ. Just get a decent map of both islands and head upstream along any river that turns your head. You'll be amazed at what you find, even in places that don't look that hot.

I would do anything to be able to fly fish for trout like that. I live in North Carolina and the trout fishing here is pathetic to say the least. I actually went today and I didn't see a single fish. It's pathetic how people poach fish around here. You would never catch a wild brown around here like that. I've actually never seen one like the size of those fish, except at the hatcheries. But who wants to catch a stocked brown like that? They are stupid and easy to catch. And not pretty at all.

love the film, as a matter of fact i own a production company, nice job ive fished new zealand in the end of te nineties.The only thing i disliked is landing those big brownies by tailing them ask any commerrcial fisherman this bruises the spine
