What do you do to keep your border entertained daily? I'm thinking of getting one and want to make sure I know just how much exercise they need. I'm a student so I would have time to go on 3 walks/runs each day, take her to the dog park 3-4 times a week, and play frisbee/fetch in my yard, as well as providing her with toys for inside and teaching her tricks. Would that be sufficient? Or would she do better with a large, open field to run in, such as a farm?

@morrybyte Hali started digging on her own because she liked it, so every I saw her do it I would say the word "dig". Eventually she knew what it meant!

@morrybyte if the dog has a favorite ball or other bigger easy-to-spot-in-the-snow toy that they love enough to work for you can start "finding" it in the snow, then cover it more and more and eventually you should be able to get the dog to dig to get the ball/toy but from your hand instead :)

I have a blue-eyed Border Collie, but he's got sooo lazy! He's nearly 2, we've only had him 4/5 mts. He wasn't house broken, but now pretty much has all the basics down; so it will take Time - maybe one day he will be this well trained?! But he's turned into a Lab! How can I get him to stop focusing on all the Bush smells & thoughts of food (incldg roo poo!) & concentrate on having fun with me as he now needs to loose weight!?? No jumping on sheep for him! I love your dogs, such a great job!:)

I really appreciate that you adopted a rescue dog. The best dog I ever had was a mixed breed who needed a home and he learned how to do the "sad dog" without any training especially when there was food around - he had me trained! lol I also had a purebred smaller dog and she was wonderful too.

I just love it. I always wonder how do you get them to look different directions on "be a snob"? My border will do "are you sad" but with a foot thrown in...I don't know why, but she thinks she has to cover her eye when she is sad. Would love to see more.

This wasn't actually intentional (I'm sorry to say!) It looks like I taught them to look away from each other, but when clicker training I just accepted looking away from me. Hali learned to look to the right, and Blink learned to look to the left. If I put them on opposite sides than they are in the video, they end up looking towards each other!

I took her to the beach, and she loved to dig in the sand, so every time she would start to dig I would keep saying the word "dig" until she knew what it meant!

I think Hali is better at the tricks because on are you sad? it was so cute at 0:55 she curled up her tail and she weaved a lot better than BLink. But Blink is still good too. Hugs and Kisses!
