lol no actually he is afraid of you. If a shiba's tail is down (not curled) they are usually afraid, as his was. OUr Shiba Inu is like this with most our friends and strangers, and any weird objects. He has gotten better over the years but Shiba Inu's are loyal to their owners, and cautious of strangers.

I dont think hes trying to play.... Specially once the person shooting the viedo got up and the dogs tail went down. When a Shiba is worried or scared their tail goes down. When theire ok, its up. My Shiba's tail gets specially tight when she gets curious and when shes territorial.
HA! My Uki acts like that with my roommate... it's sad cause after almost 3 yrs he STILL acts like that to him! At least now I know my shiba isn't the only weird one hehehe... they really are great dogs, picky about who they let get close to them.

The Shiba wasnt afraid per say but was untrusting.
My male shiba (who is also the Alpha) is the same way and is VERY standoffish and will not let strangers touch him. We figured out over many years it takes him about 2 weeks to get used to someone new in the house and then he will usually trust them and let them pet him.
My female on the other hand (who is totally Omega) will great total strangers with a lick and a smile.

@anphelps27 they arent very expensive. from a pet shop they are, but from a breeder its like $1500 cheaper. my beautiful shiba was $400.
