  • oh and lotus designed the suspension for at least the 2004.5 kia spectra

  • i had a 2004.5 kia spectra with just a cold air intake and i was dusting civics left and right u would have to have an si or base model with parts to have more hp than a stock spectra and its governed at 128-130 but thats with another 1500 rpm left till redline 70 at 3000 in 5th and 130 at 5000 in 5th kia what lmao

  • Recently purchased a 2008 Spectra 5 automatic. I commute 70 miles daily and am getting 31-32 mpg's in mixed driving. Quite respectable in my opinion.

  • ооо вот это машина не то что Kia на метро обогнал её :D :D

  • Kia quality can not compete with either Honda or Toyota. I own a 2006 Kia Spectra and so far i am not happy with it. Interior parts such as: Top of dash board vents crack and buckle, other parts get loose. Also you will not find most Kia regular parts such as: Struts, injectors, brake parts over your after market auto store. You either will have to go to Kia or napa to pay big bucks for simple parts. I am ready to either sell or trade this piece of junk for a Ford, Honda or Toyota.

  • 1 2 ruuuda

  • stupid racers....trix are for

    kids lmao!!!

  • Sounds like a lot of you are young so you don't remember that Jap car co's didn't have the best selling or the most reliable cars just 10-20 years ago. Their formula was simple, provide features and a more reliable product for a price that undercut US/European competitors then cycle sales profits into R&D for a better product. Check out the Hyundai Genesis or Kia Forte or Soul. The people who still hate on Hyundai/Kia still think Audi's are electrical failures, Volvo's are safest, and etc.

  • To Bogal master: If any particular car was perfect from the start their wouldnt be an after market for any manufacturer period !! Owning a KIa doesnt make you poor. It makes you a leader. When kia finally join the ranks of Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Subaru, etc thats when all the nay sayers will jump on the band wagon..Its easy to be a Yankee or a Laker fan until an expansion team wins the championship. Church Biiiatches!

  • To Bogalmaster, I put a K&N panel air filter in my KIA and a a Magnaflow/Dynomax Muffler on with larger exhaust from the Catalytic Converter Back. I helps the motor breathe better and gets the exhaust out smoother. The sounds is not to rauchus either. When trying to hyper mile your car, accelerate slower and travel 50-60 mph. I will have 200,000 miles on my 2006 Spectra this weekend and still maintain fuel economy in the mid 30's, higher when i drive slower. Mine is a standard, not automatic :)

  • Lol or at least in awe.

  • Its fun to look at these comments and see so much confusion about Kias....works for me. My 07 Spectra SX runs a mid-fifteen almost bone stock, and I love seeing the surprised looks on your faces (when they arent blurred.) My Kia's interior is beautiful. Id put it up against any of yours any day. Its my second Kia and also the second Kia Ive put over 100,000 miles on. They both run great, and are absolutely willing to spank an unsuspecting ass or two. Why bash Kia/Hyundai? Must be scared, or at

  • @jasonkgps I totally agree with you. Five years ago my friends said: "sell your kia/hyundai and buy a car" after owning a 2004.5 Kia Spectra 2.0L auto, I quickly learned that KIA is an AWESOME, I repeat, AWESOME car maker. All of my family owns ONLY hondas and toyotas and nissans. I bought myself a Kia Sorento SUV due to a larger family. Anyways, in the future I want to buy a 2011 Kia Optima SX for myself and when our 2008 Sorento gets worn out, I want to get my wife a 2011+ Sorento

  • @jasonkgps what does mid-fifteen mean?

  • @Strider2112 it most likly means between 15 and 16 seconds in the quarter mile

  • i bet they got up to 53 by the end of this video..hey thats pretty fast!

  • Actually i can't remember for sure, but I believe it was 65-70mph.

  • lmao i beat SO many people in my kia rio its so funnny tooooo

  • my oh my.

  • only upperhand is that the civic has a ton of aftermarket parts.

  • I have gotten up to 47 mpg on my 2006 Kia Spectra, it now has 172,000 miles on it and is going strong. Kias are very reliable cars. The biggest difference that I have seen between them and Hondas are that the Hondas will go the distance, but they cost twice the money in maintainance costs, the base Kia also has more horsepower in general. The only downfall is that Kia still does not have a wealth of aftermaket support for additional upgrades.

  • @kiasrok

The best I've ever gotten on my 2005 Kia Spectra AUTOMATIC was 29 mpg. No matter what I did, (turned off A/C, Cruise at 65 mph etc) the best I saw was 29mpg. Not sure.

  • @BogalMaster That's respectfully up there still at 29mpg, with the auto an good quality gas 31-32 would be tops on avg for hwy. My 5 speed just manages 31mpg going to work & 35 mpg on the open roads, gas quality as gone down over the past year making it harder to hit 35mpg. As for that 47mpg that speedo is off, even stretching the truth, that's some seriously deep BS for a high miler KIA spectra.

Even with pure quality 100 octane Sunoco unleaded race gas 38mpg was a struggle to achieve

  • @Chobits02 Yes, mine is an AUTOMATIC, and in auto tranny its always a little bit more difficult to achieve better MPGs than in a MANUAL tranny .

  • Beaten by a Kia..........ouch

  • Whoever was driving the civic needs to learn to drive and slap him for having a automatic civic!!! What a dumass..

  • You sure do get what you pay for is right. I traded my 2000 Kia Spectra in at 268,000 miles. It never caused my any breakdowns. My wife's Honda Civic went near the same before she upgraded to a Kia. The difference is that her Honda cost her three times the money to keep it on the road. The last year and a half that I had my 1st Kia i put on 100,000 miles with only routine maintainance. Now I have an 06 Spectra that I traded ths 1st Kia in on. It as 158,000 miles on it. :) Kias rule.

  • I agree, Kia has made a significant leap forward. They are great cars! I think soon enough Kia and Hyundai will become one of Top Three in USA!

  • Kia was already the 8th highes sold car in the US this past year. Just a couple of years ago Hyundai was the 3rd car brand in overall quality. The only brands ahead of them was Porsche which was number one, and Lexus was number two. Hyundai and Kia merged within the first two years of me having my 1st Kia. I just want them to come out with a diesel pick up truck sometime. They have diesels in other countries, but not the USA.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if Kia/Hyundai would surpass Toyota/Honda in USA in overall quality. The only place where Honda and Toyota dominate are their engines! Kia/Hyundai have excellent interior quality compared to Toyota and Honda, but the Japs still have better engines. But I know THAT will change when Kia/Hyundai will come out with 2.0 and 2.4 DIRECT INJECTION engiens!

  • When I got my 1st Kia Spectra in 2000, it had 124 horsepower. The same year the Honda Civic had 106 horsepower.

Kia has been making cars wth more power than their competition for years. All sold at a lower cost. Kia has actually been growing and expanding plants, even here in the US, all while the big three have been going through some real bad times here in the US. Kia/Hyundai has definately been moving up.

  • @kiasrok

I looked up the fuel economy for a spectra a civic (both year 2000)

    Spectra: 20/29

    Civic: 27/33

These cars are not built to have power and go fast. They are built to be efficient and reliable. Is the Kia more efficient and reliable?

  • @BogalMaster

I doubt that will happen any time soon. Not that Kias or Hyundais are bad but Honda makes the best engine in the world. There are years of R&D and improvement that went into that. Hyundai and Kia may be able to make something as good some day but they have a lot of work ahead of them.

  • @BogalMaster Yeah but the engine is where it counts. You can have the best quality interior and 50 different gadgets inside. But if a car is not reliable than its nothing simple as that. No car companies will ever compete with hondas engines. They make everything and everything they make gets awesome reviews.

  • @lightthiscity27 Not so much... Honda does make GREAT engines. BUT, Hyunda's new 2.4L direct injection engine is BETTER than Honda's 2.4L port injection. Hyundai/Kia are gaining FAST on the competition. But Honda does have a PERFECT RECORD of being BEST at pretty much everything except road noise for a LONG LONG time!

  • @lightthiscity27

Honda makes the most reliable engines, but the overall car reliability is usually with Toyota.

And Subaru's Boxer engine is as solid as rock, the only German cars that can come even close to Subaru would be Porsche(I am proud of my WRX. I will drive Subaru for the rest of my life). Mitsubishi Lancer EVO performs like a 200,000 dollar rally car, and Nissan? Has the best supercar in the world, GT-R.

What do Hyundai/Kia have? Nothing but cheap cars.

  • @BogalMaster

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Hyundai/Kia still can not compete against the Japanese automakers. Here is why:

Hyundai/Kia have no tuning divisions like Mugen(Honda), Ralliart(Mitsubishi, WRX STI(Subaru), F Division(Lexus) and so on.

Hyundai/Kia still use many Japanese parts, Mitsubishi has been providing them parts until very recently.

No Hyundai/Kia car is a status symbol. More like it says you are poor.

Good luck telling girls "I drive a Hyundai" or Kia.

  • one..two...rwuuuu haha

  • Yep, 1..2..rwaaaaa it is! Kia has definitely got its homework done.

  • eww why automatic?

  • kia rules

  • whatever, anyways this car is 60% german.

  • usless if its under korean brand name :d

  • Well I know Kia has been making some parts....key word is some. So far KFX and a few other companies can supply us with parts, but primarily, you gotta make your own or modify the Tibby stuff to work with the Beta II motor.

  • yea but even if you do mod your own parts kia's are still pieces of shit I would know I work at a kia in downtown portland oregon as a mechanic thats why kia cars are really cheap a lot of plastic cheap parts you get what u pay for

  • HEY that's russian! Kia is an up and coming brand. Eventually it will become mainstream, till then the real tuners are the ones who make their own parts, not slap ones onto their Hondas and say it's custom

  • Kia does make their own performance parts they have for years

  • wow lol my 04 4dr beats spectra lol

  • spectra owns once again.
