@KIDAmnesiacBends Life On Mars, it was one of the best TV shows from the UK. Gene hunt was this sort of Anti-hero who was kinda sexy in a weird way. The Life On Mars song was a focus point for the main story arc and also where the show got its title from. You'll have to see it to understand it better. Which I recommend you do, cos it's seriously brilliant :)
LOM (UK) and LOM (US) were both god shows in their own rights. The major difference between the uk and the us version was the end of the uk version was planned. It left viewers with as many questions as when they came in. It made you think, it haunted you. The us version wrapped it up too neatly, and a little too fairytale-like.
LOM US may have been more interesting if the original version of it would've been used. (look up the ABC promo for it. Different actors. different location LA!)
I wished some of the things from the NY things were discussed in the MU version. that's the good things about remakes. a fan feels something is not in the show and he or she decides to remake it faithfully but with new concepts.
Love the TV series! John Simm and Phillip Glenster are amazing together. Can't wait for Mad Dogs to come out, the dream cast finally re-united!
