@megabadass30 (A) I am 27 years old and I know who Public Enemy is and that it's a cover. (B) I said "wrong" because you said "Staind never sounded like this". That statement is WRONG. They sounded like this on "Bring the Noise". The fact that it's a cover is irrelevant.
Now that I've heard the whole song... I really don't hear Snoop. I hear Aaron rapping... If Snoop's there it's really, really subtle. Like subtle to the point that it doesn't matter if he's there or not.
I asked Johnny April himself, on his FB page if Snoop Dogg was on "Wannabe" and he personally answered me back and said "YES, he sings part of the song".
I have the full album d/l and there are rap/numetal type verses that I didn't think sounded like Snoop at all. They actually sounded more like Aaron on "Bring the Noise" that he did for "Take a Bite Outta Rhyme". But, Johnny himself SAID Snoop was on the album.
You've heard the whole song?... Any way you could host it somewhere real quick if you have it? ;)... But Amazon doesn't just randomly post stuff like that. They post the info they're given. Maybe what you heard was an earlier version?
@packy341 I've listened to the song (don't ask me how! kthxbai!) and it looks like that's not true. Maybe they thought that because there's rapping lyrics in the verses. At first listen, I thought it was Snoop, but in turn, it's actually Aaron who raps. That's right, he raps on this song. And the lyrics for the song...yeesh, my ass is burned.
@Jeff187342 there is a deluxe edition..and i know that because i reserved it but idk whats on it..maybe the version with Snoop Dogg could be a bonus track then? Id actually like to hear how he sounds with the heavy rock sound that Staind has lol
@bigdaddypaddy1 i know but im saying anyone would be better than having snoop in it i think having the lead singer of saliva or corey taylor in it would be awesome.
@MegaStevie1990 Yeah that's what one reviewer said. Hope it isn't true. Snoop Dogg is one of the greatest rappers of all time, but it be like if you were listening to a heavy Disturbed track and than all of sudden Jay-Z came in with a verse.
@FTboy18 Then again, we shouldn't criticize yet as we've not heard the whole version yet. Snoop Dogg could come up with a big Aaron Lewis style scream that'll make us pleasently surprised (yes, I AM trying to be at least optimistic about it lol)
@FTboy18 I was thinking the same thing! Without being disrespectful, if a hip hop star was gonna feature of THIS sort of song, you would think it would have been someone witth a bit more aggression in their lyric style. Have you seen Snoop Dogg's rendition of Sad but True? Says it all really.
@atrumdiabolus As not being much of a rap fan, I have to say that snoop is awesome... He is one the best old skool rappers! He doesn't need to yell to get his point across he does it just fine with his smoothness... That is just my opinion =)
this song sucks, i love staind and i love what i've heard from the new album (the bottom, not again, failing, eyes wide open) but i hate this, I WANT STAIND! NOT LIMP BIZKIT... staind never sounded like this, only the shitty bands that were out at the same time did, FUCK THIS SONG
its funny you say that, because Staind was actually really heavy like this before LIMP BIZKIT founded them and told them to be softer. So if anything, Staind is being more like themselves instead of being more like Limp Bizkit told them to be
@xtrippsikoh that's not what i'm saying, i know they used to be heavy, i own all their albums, including their first album, tormented (heard of it?).... what i'm talking about is this semi-rap. they never had that element in their music. staind was always more post-grunge then nu-metal.
@megabadass30 so you're saying staind should sound more like staind and not obtain a new sound? I mean everyones looking for a new sound. So they're going a bit more nu-metal, no big deal. Better than the pansy route they were going down with their last album. Or like Papa Roch and Linkin Park. It's nice to head someone going back to the heavier side, even if they throw in some of the "Limp Bizkit" rap style, still better than the last album they put out :/
@xtrippsikoh i'd rather see them go heavy in an alice in chains sort of way. like they did on just go or a flat. also, this song's lyrics arent staind's style either, even on that last album most of the lyrics did reflect the same style most of staind's work has (raining again, nothing left to say, pardon me, break away).. as much as i love the heavy staind i love the not so heavy as well. while dysfunction is my favorite of their albums, 14 shades is a close second
@xtrippsikoh When did LB tell them to be soft?!? Fred found them during their Tormented days. Fred saw the album cover and wasn't going to sign them, but then he heard them play and changed his mind. Then, they made DYSFUNCTION, their heaviest album besides Tormented. If he wanted them to be "softer" they wouldn't have re-recorded Spleen and Mudshuvel, BOTH from the Tormented Days.
@ThaScenicRoute what do you mean wrong? staind never sounded like this, bring the noise is NOT A STAIND SONG! it's a cover of a song by a rap group named public enemy
Not sure that I liked the way this song sounded when I first heard this sample because it sounded like your classic Nu-Metal, but now I think it's going to be one of my favourites also...
"its so easy when youre faceless" I think the lyrics are about people who bash Staind's sound on the internet. They are heavily criticized across the internet for being "post-grunge sellout pre-packaged angst Nickleback butt rock". I've only heard 4 or 5 songs from the new album so far, but I was impressed by each one, and thats more than I can say for Radiohead's new album as well as Linkin Park's, where each seemed like 50% boring filler... whereas Staind remains true to their fans this time.
it sounded like fred durst to me, maybe he didnt want his name on it
