Why do we argue about weapons, calibers and efficiency? Just go with what you trust, and what you like. After all, in a few years, they won't remember what weapons you used, your technique, caliber, whatever. They'll just remember those who lived and died. As for myself, I've used both AK's and AR's platforms, and to be honest, I prefer the AR platform.

I own an AK and an AR; adding to this discussion, if the zombies show up I prefer the simplicity and accuracy of the AK. Now, don't get me wrong. AR's and the .223/5.56 round are great, but to me, there are so many parts to worry about in the long run.
There is the argument that an AK can be dropped in the mud along with an AR and the AR will fail. Far from the truth.. regarding weight, AK's depending on the receiver milled or stamped.. can be just as "heavy" as an AR... not a cinder block
I had an m4 issued to me when I was in the service. It fired much like an ak...but had less recoil and longer range. The ak, or any of the Kalashnikov family of weapons, are extremely reliable, thanks to their primitive design. The 47 is still used, but is being replaced by the 74. Much like the m16 is being replaced by the m4. It held the edge until the late 90s, but has since been preceded with later rifles...stateside.

@AhhizGodzilla the AK is far from heavy, and inaccurate is a no, as i said i've outshot in competitions people using M4's with ACOGS, i can hit a damn shotgun shell with open sights with my AK at 150 yards, some are very poorly built, and some aren't, mine happens to be a Polytech and is one of the best built ones you can buy, the same can be said about any weapon system too though. I've shot SCAR's, about as accurate as any M16 or M4, cool though, as far as assault rifle goes, im pickin my AK

Joker shooting the girl in this movie reminds me of Corporal Upham shooting the Nazi at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Neither man had front-line roles initially (Joker a journalist and Upham a Cartographer/Translator), but by the end, they had to let their training finally take control and enable them to kill when they needed to. In the span of a couple movie hours, we saw both men transform significantly for the better and overcome the difficulties and trauma of war.

She wouldn't have lived that long if she was shot by a 5.56 round multiple times, they would've tumbled throughout her body and pierced organs, she wouldn't live 60 seconds, let alone 6 minutes.

The interesting thing is that the only person who saw this was animal mother, and he wanted to leave her. It's not like she didn't suffer for a while before the end; they stood there for a while.
This why you always move in w/ at least one buddy w/in a kill zone. Somebody to cover & kill you while you move in, if your weapon jams, to recover an injured soldier, & escape. So much tactics was learned from the mistakes in the Vietnam Conflict.

Joker shooting the girl in this movie reminds me of Corporal Upham shooting the Nazi at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Neither man had front-line roles initially (Joker a journalist and Upham a Cartographer/Translator), but by the end, they had to let their training finally take control and enable them to kill when they needed to. In the span of a couple movie hours, we saw both men transform significantly for the better and overcome the difficulties and trauma of war.

She had two weapons. She had a different weapon while she was sniping. If you watch the video it is a semi automatic rifle of some kind that she is using. She later uses the AK to finish the 2 dying soldiers on the ground when one of them points out her position.

It's kind of interesting this scene. You know at the boot camp scene, where Hartmann is glorifying the sniper in Texas who killed all of the people from the bell tower? Here, instead of glorifying it, the Marines are on the ass end of it. The movie comes full circle.

@opp861 Well if you noticed, she killed the two men when they were no longer useful to her, instead of letting them bleed out and saving ammo. So in a way their response was the same. The interesting thing is that the only person who saw this was animal mother, and he wanted to leave her. It's not like she didn't suffer for a while before the end; they stood there for a while.

This why you always move in w/ at least one buddy w/in a kill zone. Somebody to cover & kill you while you move in, if your weapon jams, to recover an injured soldier, & escape. So much tactics was learned from the mistakes in the Vietnam Conflict.
