NRE makes the 632 with just 9.8 to One compression ratio...making "just" 850 HP. This low-compression combo might very well use 'regular' gas! For myself I'd go with this one, as the one in this vid is probably a "race gas" only version.
@racedemon89 First off, were do you get that a 700CI V8 would weigh 1000lbs? A 630ci (only 70ci shy of 700) weights about the same as the iron block, aluminum heads 572 you used as an example. An all aluminum big block weights around 480lbs btw.
Secondly, the advantage the larger of the 2 engines should be obvious. Your 2 engine examples make the same peak HP, so the larger engine will do it with much lower RPM and therefore a wider torque curve, as well as more peak and average torque.
@racedemon89 Well not only would you NEVER gain that much weight from increasing displacement that way, but also, you would without a doubt be creating significantly more power in an identically spec'd 700 than a 572. Along with that, if you have a detuned 700 to make the power of a 572, it would be much more durable and longer lasting than a 572 making the same power.
@sirlonghair Well usually not if you have hardened steel valve seats, but honestly I would never put aluminum heads on my own engine. I only use iron.
No, they're not. At least attempt to Google stuff before you just blurt it out.
NRE's Daily Drivers Series BBC 540 twin turbo makes 1,670 FT.-LBS. of torque, while their RACE GAS Warrior Series BBC 572 with a Roots supercharger only makes 1,000 FT-LBS.
Obviously the Daily Drivers Series engine is also running lower boost.
for a 632 BBC to spin up to 6500 rpm's is pretty darned impressive to me ... keep in mind at 5,400 RPM's the piston is hitting TDC 90 times a second and with a 632 ... you can bet that piston is pretty damn big.
nice nice so nice, that is a nice street engine ;~). i would like one please thank you!!!

there is NO replacement for displacement
sar32386 2 years ago 17
@sar32386 yes there is, displacement, boost and lightness
what would you rather use a 1000hp 572cu in that weights 600lb's
or a 1000hp 700cu in that weights 1000lb's
assuming power and weight (and torwque spread) are the same, weight also matters

@jamesandrewjohnson the mass of the larger valves and heaver springs might be a problem against al. heads

Imagine it with a turbo instead of a supercharger.
kcole939 2 years ago
for that engine, a supercharger is more efficient.

6500 isnt HIGH rpm...... I have 572's that spin 7500+ that motor hadnt peaked yet..... they needed to spin to 7000 to see the total peak HP..
