Damn great score there, seriously impressive. I get about 40 maxed out with two XFX 5770's, no AA but 16x AF.
Seriously, good job.
And i believe that you are right, DX11 is still new, only a handful of games out there run it, and later on, new drivers will come out and improve the DX11 naturally.
omg that's so high! my score is only 61.7fps 1555 everything maxed out BUT no AA with my phenom II 1090T @4ghz and HD5970 at stock. at a slightly bigger res 1920x1200. your score is ridiculously high having AA at 8x. it kills my 5970 even with just 2x AA. your system rocks dude
Also the point of tessellation is to kind of improve performance while increasing graphics detail AA takes quite a bit of power and the higher your resolution the smaller the pixels and the more AA kills..
Alright this is why it does that.. its the framerate jumping quite a few frames and normalizing again which causes your little jerks like that which is why vsync fixes that if you don't already know vsync caps your framerate to your monitor refresh also as you mentioned if you overclock the cards more your average FPS will be higher thus less frame dipping also with 1920x1200 i would only really use 2x aa as not much more is needed really but for bench purposes this is fine i suppose. :p
Its not the tessellation thats giving you performance issues, its more then likely because your running AAx8. At 1920x1080, AAx4 is more then enough, ive never seen a difference past AAx4.
I don'w know how things are where you're from, but here a 5850 from Saphire is like 430$, and 5970 (also from Saphire) is 840$... do the math 3x5850=1290$, 1x5970 = 840$. And the performance is the same. Also 3x5850 takes 6x6pin connectors. 5970 takes 1x8pin + 1x6pin
nice vid +) i have a single card 5870 and use 8 gig ddr2 an a quad core at 3.6ghz
and hitting around 1567 pionts in heaven dx 11 iam realy hapy whit it ok i use anti anylising 8x its enough for me avarge frames around 50 love this card =) but isnt 3 of them overkill? if i look to your frames it isnt a big gap isnt but cool vid and awesome system mate realy iam yelous xD
I wish a single 5870 would get 50fps with those settings @ 1920x1080 resolution.
The Heaven gaming engine performs very well with ATI 5xxx series cards in that you get almost 100% scaling with them
This would mean that a 2 x 5870s setup would give almost 100% better performance than a single 5870, and 3 x 5870s would give almost 200% better performance than a single 5870.
When you play all games @ 1920x1080 @ 24xAA/16xAF/VSYNC/Triple Buffering along with all the game mods, you need 3 x 5870s :)
Yep, NVIDIA are far behind of ATI... They Copied ATI using their GDDR3 Memory and now ATI Has GDDR5.. while NVIDIA Has to wait for their GT300 Series for that type of Memory...
It looks like it has poor crossfire scaling, it looks like only 1 card is active considering your overclock and other benchmarks. Also I believe your loading issues are caused by the processor not being strong enough for the 4 GPUs. Nothing you can really do about it with Quad Cores. Like you said you have to go to high overclocks to fully utilize all 4 GPUs.
I don't think people really understand the magic of tesselation in the comments. Its controllable, and making it is just 1 more bake.
First of all, it is 3 GPUs. You will notice in the title that it says "Tri-Fire".
Secondly, scaling on the 5870s in this gaming engine in particular is virtually 100%!!!
1 GPU = 70/3 = 23.3fps
2 GPU = 70/2 = 35fps
3 GPU = 70/1 = 70fps
Every benchmark on the net using 3 x 5870s in Tri-Fire in the Heaven Benchmark @ 1920x1080/1920x1200 resolution using 8xAA/16xAF on the highest IQ settings average out at around 70fps...
Since this game has does not use any PhysX whatsoever, only the 3 x ATI GPUs are rendering the frames. In games that support PhysX, a "dedicated" PhysX card will "only" compute the PhysX within the game and does not render any actual images.
@falchard who has a nvidia gpu for physX? i've just got my 5870 and still have my old 9800 GTX but i would rather use it as a dedicated physX card rather than sell it. how shall i go about doing it, put it in the com and install the physX driver only??
I don't think tesselation will be adopted and used as fast/much as the main dx11 api, just because it takes time to create such greatly detailed high poly objects instead of just using textures.
Tessellation is the "main" feature of DX11. All DX11 games will use tessellation. Look at the Alien v Predator videos. That game is coming out soon and will be DX11. The demo focuses on the DRAMATIC tessellation effects of the game.
Yes, it is THE MAIN feature, but could you imagine yourself designing everything around 100 times more detailed than it is in crysis for example ?
Well, maybe they wouldn't have to design every model from the ground up, if they coded an autogen system, you know, a system, which reads a template model and then creates an array of slightly different models using a "random" algorithm.
You must understand how tessellation works. I suggest you reading this link:
w w w d o t extremetech d o t c o m/article2/0,2845,2329315,00 d o t a s p
Basically, all the hard parts are left up to the hardware to accomplish. There is no more added stress on the game programmers/artists to implement "hardware" tessellation into games.
It is not about programming an engine, which can use tesselation, it is about making a high poly model. Take polyphony digital, to make their 400000 polygon car models, it takes 3-6 months for each car.
That is just the point of tessellation, no need to create high poly models otherwise it would be useless, it would not exist as it wouldn't do anything :p
I believe that most models are originally created in hi-poly form, and then re-created into the most efficient yet still visually appealing models. So instead of having to do this, DX11 tessellation allows for the high-poly models to remain as-is.
thanks thats a great score, to bad u dont have physx it doubles the cpu score..im planning on getting a gt 220 for dedicated physx to pair with my hd 5870
ATI 3xxx & 4xxx series cards can run DX10.1 Tessellation but not DX11 tessellation. DX10 cards which are what the Nvidia 8xxx, 9xxx & GT2xx cards are cannot run any sort of tessllation.
No, there are computers with more SSD drrives creating a higher throughput and also there are Quad-Fire 5870 rigs using the EVGA x58 Classified 762 which is a monster using dual NF200 chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey bro if i got 2 5850's in crossfire can i still use one of my old 9800 gt's for physics ?seems like u have but i heard nvidia does not allow that any more
I don't know. The specifications are at the beginning of the clip so it wouldn't be hard to look it up.
I bought all the parts over a couple month period of time swapping components from my other 2 evga x58 rigs to come up with this one. The other rigs are about identical with just different cases and with EVGA GTX260/216s and regular HDD drives instead.
Actually, 1000/1295 is the highest I've gotten them up to. I just don't think the extra voltage (1.3 verses 1.162) is worth it, especially considering that the increase in fps will not even be distinguishable because it already plays everything over 60fps anyways.
When it is set at 1.3v, the heat becomes a real concern as well. At stock while gaming, the fans barely kick on leaving a very quiet invironment.
I'm not loaded but rather well off. I make good money selling medical equipment throughout the US. This is my hobby and really the only thing I spend money on. I didn't keep track of how much everything cost, but it wouldn't be hard to do the math.
I'm thinking about doing this. I want eyefinity and physx . . . I've heard its had some problems tho so what have you experienced in terms of tech issues?
There is a definite CPU bottleneck. I've been saying this amongst the computer forums on the net. It isn't a serious bottlneck so 4,8ghz would definitely be well over what is actually needed.
4.4ghz would be ideal. The only 9.12 drivers out "are not" really 9.12 beta drivers. They are just optimized 9.10 beta drivers. 9.10 are 8.66 while the "supposed" 9.12 beta are 8.663.1.
The "true" 9.12 beta drivers are only available for Windows XP ATM. Their build string is 8.68. 9.11 is 8.67.
If you believe I am showing off, then you have gotten the wrong impression. This is simply a video showing what Unigine's latest gaming engine looks like in DX11 at all max settings with 5870s in Tri-Fire.
You need three GPUs for Tri-CrossfireX. If you have four GPUs, it is called Quad-Fire or Quad-CrossfireX. The more cards you add, the better the performance.
Because I enjoy playing games with the highest possible quality settings @ 1920x1080 HD Resolution and Vsinc, I "need" all the GPU horsepower I can get...
It's future-proofing the system. DX12 won't be here for another 3 years or so, and I want this rig to be able to play ever DX11 game until then on the aforementioned settings.
I bought a special 100mm CF bridge off of eBay. Before the 9800GT physX card, I just had three hooked up with the shorter bridges that came with the cards. The way the Classified is set up, if you use the PhysX card, you put that inbetween the second and third 5870; therefore, you need the longer bridge to then connect the 2nd and 3rd card.
Wow! I didn't even realize that. I just did some quick checking, and I don't think much can be done with just the product ID so I think I'll be ok. Next time, I'll be a bit more careful :)
As far as the future of gaming is concerned, they need to raise the bar a little. I've got games right now that already look pretty close to this, and I'm not running a crazy expensive rig like you are, so I mean. This was a show of hardware, not graphics technology. Spend 4k on a computer so you can run stuff like this, but if that's the future of pc gaming, who can build the most expensive machine, then i'll be disappointed. As far as the WOW factor of this benchmark, I'm just not seeing it.
I appreciate your comment, but you are missing the point. This is only one company's example of their DX11 gaming engine. You cannot apply this to all the future DX11 gaming engines. For instance, Crysis 2 will use the CryEngine 3 gaming engine which will be DX11. From what I've seen of that, it blows away this Unigine's gaming engine.
Some DX9 games look better than others. Some DX10 games look better than others. The same will apply to DX11.
I want to add a 3rd 128gb TorqX to it which will max out the Intel Matrix ICH10R controller. Anything over that would need a hardware RAID card.
When the GT300 comes out in Q1 2010, I'll be getting the EVGA 4way Classified board. Hopefully, you'll be able to run 4 GTX380s in Quad-SLI because that is what I am going to do. Otherwise, I will just stick with 3.
I believe the GTX380 will be just a little better than the 5870 but not by much. It should be interesting...
No, I'm not rich. I wish. I do however make good money selling medical equipment. Computers are just my hobby. Actually, it is more of an addiction to be honest about it :)
An addiction is right ;D i like to throw new stuff in my pc to Test it and see how hard i can push it before it Breaks >D. Iv maybe pushed my graphics card over the limit 5 times before. Volt modded it so i could reach 1000 core and 1200 memory i one day managed 1230 but it didnt last long before my card start crashing lol( 4850_)

At stock while gaming, the fans barely kick on leaving a very quiet invironment.

shit u must be loaded thats at least £2400 worth of gear
Flimsii 2 years ago
I'm not loaded but rather well off. I make good money selling medical equipment throughout the US. This is my hobby and really the only thing I spend money on. I didn't keep track of how much everything cost, but it wouldn't be hard to do the math.

Cpu bottleneck my friend :( you need at least 4.8ghz for 3x 5870.
BTW you should try the new 9.12 drivers they are awesome for Crysis 30% more fps.
26psyside 2 years ago
I'm thinking about doing this. I want eyefinity and physx . . . I've heard its had some problems tho so what have you experienced in terms of tech issues?
ShadowSoldier55 2 years ago

This is simply a video showing what Unigine's latest gaming engine looks like in DX11 at all max settings with 5870s in Tri-Fire.

what is need to connect 3 cards in crossfire?
koeiok 2 years ago
You need three GPUs for Tri-CrossfireX. If you have four GPUs, it is called Quad-Fire or Quad-CrossfireX. The more cards you add, the better the performance.
Because I enjoy playing games with the highest possible quality settings @ 1920x1080 HD Resolution and Vsinc, I "need" all the GPU horsepower I can get...
It's future-proofing the system. DX12 won't be here for another 3 years or so, and I want this rig to be able to play ever DX11 game until then on the aforementioned settings.

My question was about the physical connection between the cards, the bridges.
Do you use the bridges that came with the card or have to buy special bridges to connect 3 or 4 cards?
I know that this motherboard came with SLI connectors but I dont know if you can use them to connect ATI cards.
Thanks
koeiok 2 years ago
I bought a special 100mm CF bridge off of eBay. Before the 9800GT physX card, I just had three hooked up with the shorter bridges that came with the cards. The way the Classified is set up, if you use the PhysX card, you put that inbetween the second and third 5870; therefore, you need the longer bridge to then connect the 2nd and 3rd card.

nice win 7 product key :)
Juiceman8686 2 years ago

As far as the WOW factor of this benchmark, I'm just not seeing it.
wilburgtwoot 2 years ago
I appreciate your comment, but you are missing the point. This is only one company's example of their DX11 gaming engine. You cannot apply this to all the future DX11 gaming engines. For instance, Crysis 2 will use the CryEngine 3 gaming engine which will be DX11. From what I've seen of that, it blows away this Unigine's gaming engine.
Some DX9 games look better than others. Some DX10 games look better than others. The same will apply to DX11.
luv2increase 2 years ago
The point of the rig is to be future-proofed as in able to run all DX11 games on max @ 1920x1080 until DX12 comes out in ~3 years. FUTURE-PROOFING :)

Thanks!!!
It should be interesting...
luv2increase 2 years ago
are you rich? LOL 3 GTX 380s will be like 1500 or 2000$ i cant drop that much on 3 or 4 graphics cards LOL
cncmasterw 2 years ago
No, I'm not rich. I wish. I do however make good money selling medical equipment. Computers are just my hobby. Actually, it is more of an addiction to be honest about it :)
luv2increase 2 years ago
An addiction is right ;D i like to throw new stuff in my pc to Test it and see how hard i can push it before it Breaks >D. Iv maybe pushed my graphics card over the limit 5 times before. Volt modded it so i could reach 1000 core and 1200 memory i one day managed 1230 but it didnt last long before my card start crashing lol( 4850_)
