Lotus was already out of shape on the right hander, its mid engine would be more of a hand full to regain control. On the gas, power over steer, off the gas, yet more over steer. Probably lost concentration cause the guy in the 5 was all over him

I gotta say the end fault is of the driver who crashed. However I believe the driver of the Miata pushed it too far.. I you see the driver is having a hard tiem obviuosly because he is inexperienced and he is getting nervous by looking at the mirror.. give him some space.. decent driving but poor sportiness..

BTW I own an MX5 NA and a MX5 Mazdaspeed and I can tell you I'd kill this guy in track.. not so great of a driver..

The MX5 is great (and good driver here too) but the Lotus Elise is the one of the best handling cars in the world. You have to drive it really poorly to cause it to over this way and the left/right/left/right/left.. feedback problem before the final crash was tragic. Needs to practice how to get out of that instead of amplifying it. But I empathise with the driver too - started to lose their nerve. I'm guessing that the tires overheated too.

@riccardinono. In effetti a ben guardare le mani non fanno una buona presa e a volte sembra un po' svogliato. Io comunque consiglierei di usare in pista sempre un paio di guanti da competizione (anche da karting vanno bene).

Molto bravo il pilota della MX5. Eccellente mi sembra la staccata alla prima variante (al min. 1.40). Pulito e preciso. Distanza dal volante corretta e anche la posizione delle mani sul volante stesso. Se non è un vero pilota potrebbe esserlo.

Aggiungo che comunque il piltoa della elise è proprio pessimo, manca le traettorie e cerca di chiuderle all'ultimo lasciando l'acceleratore con risultati catastrofici.

Se notate lo stesso errore lo commette diverse vole prima del disastro.

Beh a controllare l'effetto pendolo serve una buona velocità sul volante e non farsi prendere dal panico sull'acceleratore.

Il tizio avrà semplicemente lasciato l'acceleratore preso dal panico per il pendolare dell'auto e è successo solo quello che doveva succedere.

Comunque è un errore che può capitare, quella è la situazione peggiore che si possa verificare: il posteriore troppo alleggerito è una brutta bestia.

well miatas in general are good vehicles, from the factory they are made to ride nice. You add some sporty suspension, bigger tires along with some engine upgrades and u have a pretty light vehicle with great suspension geometry.

Io ho una TF 115, di meccanica è molto simile alla elise, ma con un'assetto un po' più stradale, tipo la mazda per capirci...beh vi dirò che anche tirando come un matto in pista non ho mai conosciuto un sovrasterzo che non si sia corretto con una sola controsterzata(elise e TF hanno il motore centrale= più peso dietro) il pilota della mx-5 è molto bravo, aggressivo e caparbio, sono d'accordo che il pilota della elise non è un granchè ma secondo me aveva le gomme finite...

1-Quello con la lotus di certo non va a spingerla al massimo (sotto le mani ha una macchina da 30000 e passa euro)

2-La lotus ti da via in rettilineo e accelerazione (e si vede nel video)

3-il brutto della lotus e che se comincia a sbandare in quel modo nel 90% dei casi non la tieni più

@gasgas1952romeitaly secondo me (ed e un parere da amatore del genere l"leggere e veloci") il tipo sentiva un po la pressione della mx5 dietro (cioe tu) e quindi voleva staccarti ankora di piu perche cmq in curva lo recuperavi molto in staccata e traettoria soprattutto... si nota molto che incomincia a guidare molto al limite portando la macchina ad una guida sporca e si nota che in curva da dei colpi di netto alla vettura

once you lose the rear in most mid ship cars its very very hard to regain control. they are very hard cars to drive. that driver lost his concentration bc the miata was always in his rear view.

Well, i guess I've actuall never driven a mid engined car before, all my cars have been front engined. rear drive. I just thought that lotus's (loti? lol) were renowned for being great handlers

they do handle great but imo the miata is better. miata is 50/50 and lotus is well rear weight biased. miata can better optimize grip on all four corners. rear biased cars are very twitchy. the lotus could have pulled away but it takes the concentration and experience of an f1 driver. in the lotus once grip is lost in the rear you can kiss ur ass goodbye, the miata on the other hand is extremely forgiving bc of its 50/50.
