To be fair to Tom Snyder, he didn't even mention the Sex Pistols until 3:09 - does that sound like someone who only wants to talk about the past?
Artists are asked about former bands all the time no matter what new material they're promoting - e.g. Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Stevie Nicks - and I don't hear them complaining.

I'm going to go ahead and say that Rotten comes across as rather foolish. He seems to think that the Pistols somehow finished all of Rock and Roll. Because it plays at airports, apparently it's dead. And history is irrelevant.
History is what prevents us from failing in the future. There would be no success without mistakes. And we learn mistakes from observing history.
The masses are not all "banal sheep". Each person has their own mind, own life, and makes their own choices.

interesting interview, if slightly pretentious on PiL's part. It seems like they're deliberately giving vague answers to some of Tom's questions to come off as profound and enigmatic when really it just seems like they have about as little a clue as to what they're on about as Tom does.
