  • This will always be my favorite Castlevania. Best in the series.

  • What about the track that sounded like Billy Joel's "pressure"?

  • The best and most memorable track in the entire game was the one during the fight with Dracula. This is one of the greatest games of all time as far as i'm concerned.

  • 6:14 is definitely the jam.. loved this one when i was a kid

  • @MoneyTalks1132 i agree with you

  • This was a very great game for the NES.

  • this was my favorite NES castlevania game. i think true gamers will agree, and rookies want the quick slash games like 1 and 3, though they were great too.

  • The nighttime soundtrack makes me want to breakdance.

  • WHERE THE F IS 10:44?????

  • Yngwie malmsteen's far beyond the sun and the mansion song are disturbingly similar.

  • the first song when you turn on the game is the best

  • wahnthac black dahlia murder yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I first heard the music of this game in 1991, when I was a wee bitty thing, and it made a serious impact. There's something subtle and haunting about it, and it suited the mood of the game perfectly. This soundtrack stands out to me as one of the first game soundtracks that managed to invoke an emotional response from me, and that was FEAR.

  • This particular game also had the best 'game over' tune in the entire series, imo. The others seem bland in comparison.

  • The daylight song in the fds release owns too I like it more than the nes version.

  • I can listen to this stuff all day. Just as good as the real stuff.

  • This game rescued me from so many rainy days when i was around 10 years old... loved t and i still do... If you want to play this game again you can download a nintendo emulator for your pc and play it on there.. Nestopia is a good emulator just google for it and download it.. google for "Nintendo Roms" to find the game and download that too

  • @ 6:14, one of the best songs on any Nintendo game.

  • Totally agree. Pure epicness.

  • @silpheed5 Agree. Maybe the best 8-bit song of all-time.

  • shitty but great game for many reasons... music is EPIC tho

  • I actually think James likes this game; he only gave it a bad review as a joke. That's the point of AVGN: it's all a joke, so people shouldn't take it too seriously... however, that's not to say that James Rolfe shouldn't be taken seriously... whatever, it's for entertainment purposes, so people shouldn't hate on this game.

  • Then you should take a look at his re-review of Simon's quest and, his review of all the others Castlevania games. That should help you see his opinion.

  • That's the angry video game nerd speaking; James Rolfe himself is totally different... in fact, roll n' rocker isn't even his favorite beer! He said so in an interview, I think, or maybe on his page... whatever, his videos are still great, and so is this game's music.

  • Yes I absolutely agree w you.. so much to explore.. so many dangers...

  • Silence of Daylight=epic

  • I found a porkchop in my wall. James was right, it works.

  • Me too. LOL

  • he likes it in real life he said so on his DVD

  • and where is frickin Dracula's theme then???

anyways, gj for paying attention to this music and that of other old games; the music back then was far more original and melodical than they are now

  • This game is awesome, music, gameplay, etc!! Dont be hatin bitches

  • I always really enjoyed it.

  • i hate when idiots like james the angry nintendo nerd bad mouth this game. castlevania 2 is epic.

  • in real life, james rolfe actualy likes simon's quest

  • you know he actually like the game right? he was just joking

  • u gotta be fucking kidding me...no one hated this game....what fuckin planet did you spawn outta cuz all loves this blood clot shit... ya meeeeeee!!!!

  • Even if u dont believe it, i meet some noobs that hated even the first Castlevania !!!! D:

For me this is a great game, maybe it has some problems with the quests and stuff that u cannot find how to do at first time but is nice anycase

  • loved this game, so many hated it but i loved it.

  • Awesome Video!! The music sounded great and the screen shots brought back great memories. Excellent work

  • XD my fave one is definitely silence of daylight the one u hear in the town now thats music at its best =D!

  • I didn't really like the gameplay of CV2:SQ, but I definitely loved the soundtrack. I haven't played this game in over 10 years and it brought back many memories from 20 years ago.

  • What's funny is, aside from SOTN, SQ is my fav Castlevania, along with pretty much everyone else I know. GXEntertainment is on the money.

  • Hey, where did you get the songs?

  • Probably ripped the wav. using an emulator, I think you can do it with "Nesticle".

  • I don't know that "Simon's Quest" was ever really as polarizing as history says. The hatred thrown in its direction, recently, is the result of the Angry Nintendo Nerd's "review," which his (bless their hearts) sophisticated audience took as gospel in completely missing the point of satire.'

It's similar to what GameSpot did to "Mario Kart 64" and 1up to "Donkey Kong Country." All scorn directed at these games is the direct result of one individual's inexplicably overvalued opinion.

  • Sorry about the double post.

  • @GXEntertainment Can't speak for the "critics" but when I was 11, my friends and I loved this game.

  • i think bloody tears is cool but not the best

  • I found the music during the battle with Dracula is awesome.

Oh... the game over tune used to give me the creeps when I was younger. Still does, sort of.

  • Me too. I used to be afraid to play it at home alone, haha.

  • @halomano07 that it is. I wish we could hear it longer. I love this game. This was the first one I played. My best friend and I used to wander around for hours kicking ass and figuring out where to go and what to do. The exploration aspect is what makes the game so great.

  • I know this is all about classic gaming music...but being the HUGE Silent Hill fan that you are...you really need to do a GMAT on those for Halloween. Remember is "Game" Music Appreciation Theater, not "Classic Game" Music Appreciation Theater. All games man....DO IT!!!

Just bustin' your balls man. But it would be sweet though.

See you this weekend...maybe. After 6 weeks of playing Silent Hill games...I'm now lost.

  • Actually I don't remember any castlevania game been using night song of the series, thought, bloody tears song "day song" is very used song in other castlevania games. How ever this game is really great even thought it lacks of musics the songs were still very awesome. Even though there could be more in my opinion. I wish they would make another Simon's quest kind of game. Ofcourse there are Symphony Of A Night but most of castlevanias are just way too trapped in to castle area.
