these are my most fav of the Torry series, my old man had an LJ GTR XU1 as a show car up here in Cairns, only drove it once but omg, nothing compares to them! if you need a stereo they your car is lacking something! A REAL ENGINE. it won a few best restored trophies, had the triple SU carbies (which he had a problem with cold low idle, forget how he fixed it now) but just idling along the Esplande, the note that came back in the car, FMD ppl on the sidewalk were jealous of the passengers!

How time flies. It goes like shit off a shovel and has run 11.3 down the quarter with an internally near stock engine apart from the cam. Hooks up beautifully. Puts a smile on my face every time I take it out for a cruise.

Impossible to register with Ls1 engine, due to power to weight ratio. RTA has clamped down on these conversion's. Call some engineer's & tell them that you want to put a LS1 in an LJ Torana, they will hang up on the phone. So doyour home work for any one thinking of doing one.

@ellareh The RTA in Nsw HAs diffrent Road LAws to Any where else in Australia Ul alos Find that some states have diffrent issues on Registrations an road regulations for emmisions

@ellareh You can put whatever you want in the car, as long as you do the required work to the car. The engineers will then approve the car. In such a small car you would have to do a lot of work the the chassis, front end and all the brakes along with some other stuff. The engineers will only hang up on you if you are a dickhead that puts such a powerful motor in an unsuitable car with no work done to it to make it safer and road worthy. Do your homework buddy!

most things before 1975 if the car came out with it u can drop it in and basicly do whatever you want.

@svlion1977 LJ's did not come factory fitted with V8's there was only a handfull that were produced with them mainly for motorsports and they were a mid mounted motor, not street legal. In most states now its not possible to register an Lc or Lj with a v8 fitted i think NSW is the only exception.

sick man! i got and ls1 in a lx torana! had heaps of head aches with it but its all worth it
