This is 90's slow. I'm not an iPhone owner (nor will I be) but I can't believe the OpenMoko and iPhone belong in the same era. Open or closed, I don't care. It's just SO slow.
That's pretty bad. This phone looks pretty good, and I will probably get it, but it looks like their dev team is not getting much done. Hopefully they at least built a solid base so the community can just fill the gaps by giving us new apps to replace this junk.
I'm not sure about that. It seems to work with some combinations but might be the cause of some problems... Don't worry too much, though. The worst that should happen is that your Neo crashes during boot. As long as you don't mess with u-boot (which I did... -_-') you can always simply flash another kernel or rootfs.
the os is called openmoko. the only phone it offically runs on is the fic 1973, but people have been able to run it on pdas and palms as well. as more work is done im sure it will become easier to install on other devices
thanks very much
but i have another free and good one
it is media player max

One question: why are GUI and app startup so slow? And is it going to change in the future?

Go to the OpenMoko Wiki and check out the Repositories page.

but there seems to be too many files...
any pointers to a 'stable' one?
writetosrj 4 years ago
Sorry, can't help you there at the moment because my Neo is dead... :( Just try the most recent version. It's always easy to flash another one.

no the OS is GNU/Linux, OpenMoko is like a Desktop Environment for GNU/Linux...
well you could call it a GNU/Linux Distro,,,

Nice ! this OS Mobile only is for that device or can be install to others?
mata75 4 years ago
