Reading the manual really helps in figuring out the controls. Raphael is the most similar to the Street Fighter II controls. April is probably the best when used properly on account of her low kick and suplex throws are so cheap.
Only reason I played the SNES version was because I was in the Blockbuster World Game Championship back in 1994, and this was one of the games we had to play.
Ha! I remember this game! I had the SNES version. One day I traded my cousins Street Fighter II: Turbo and Contra 3, for this game and Super Double Dragon, supposedly for only a week (I saw them every Saturday)
They promptly 'lost' may games. I never saw those copies of SF2 or C3 again. It was a sad and tragic time.
I don't take offense to your attempted insult, but I am offended that you couldn't even do it coherently. You couldn't even make it through one sentence with any sense of spelling and grammar? Your one chance to make a point, and you manage to waste it. Oh well, better luck somewhere else.
@BAUT30 Dude, Zeta has dedicated an entire flash wheel to trying every old game. The programming for that takes time. So do LPs. You don't really think it's that easy do you?
If you ask me, I preferred the SNES version. Genesis had BS AI as well as having an annoying ending if you complete the game on any difficulty than the hardest level.
The different consoles had completely different games with this name on it. The SNES one changed the story into some weirdass game show, but all the controls were much more decent and fluid and the characters were mostly different (and April was not a fighter.) The NES version was just terrifying madness for even trying to do a fighting game anywhere near Street-Fighter-2-era standard in 8-bit.
In later editions of the comics, April was learning ninjitsu from Splinter and the Turtles. I think this was released around that time (that's when Man Ray/Ray Fillet showed up), so she's probably been trained by then.
I always wondered why you couldn't play as the bad guys in this. I mean, Rocksteady, Bebop, a Foot Soldier, Leatherhead? It's so obvious. You had a couple in the SNES version, but no one major.
As for April's "cat scratch" move: "The Catwoman From Channel Six." Nuff said.
@Johnnymushio I'll tell you how it's possible. 224 people viewed the video and only 14 people commented. Also, stop with the hipster text, you're not impressing anyone.
Yeah; the Genesis version of TMNT Tournament Fighters is awful. I never made it far due to the cheap AI. The SNES version is way better.
To be fair, however, April having a more action-oriented role in this game might harken back to the comics where she did receive some training from Splinter and was a decent fighter, as opposed to the stock damsel-in-distress of the original animated series. She was apparently able to kick butt and take names in the 4th movie also.
Aww, you could have at least gone to the other planets to show off the rest of the cast. Oh and the speed and power settings effect both you and your opponent. Ray Fillet was one of the Mutanimals from the comic and Sisyphus was created for this game.
hero turtles = fail...I used to tease my friends from the UK about that when I was a kid whenever we were over to visit family there. I think after the second movie the laws relaxed about the word "ninja" and they started calling them TMNT after that.
The reason it was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles was because Europe used to have a ban or something on using the word "ninja" in anything due to the violent implications of that word. Which is why we got Blue Shadow instead of Shadow of the Ninja, Shadow Warriors instead of Ninja Gaiden and Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles instead of Ninja Turtles. Kind of faggotty, really. Also, did you call Krang "Kraid"?
@lmphk Yeah, even the replays of the Hero Turtles on Bravo in 1997 or 1998 whenever it was the Ninja Turtles version with the Hero Turtles theme song. Watch the uncensored German intro of Hero Turtles for the Bravo cut but in German audio.
I guess the chucks was only banned whilst it was on the BBC?

April O'Neil in this game is the biggest ripoff of Blaze Fielding.

I think this might be based on the new series where April learned ninja moves. Cause otherwise I have no idea how she could kick your ass.
