This show kinda sucked but the music? Good lord. We watched to see who was going to play live music.

Dire Straits at their best. Graham Parker and the Rumour. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The Clash. At at time when they were all great.

Amazing to see some of the talent go on and be excellent but whomever was the music producer knew what was awesome.

@bill13760 both this piece and Shakespear's work echo the message that love is destroyed by this world. Mark Knofler describes a love affair with someone who didnt care as much as him. and Shakespear's characters both die because their families cant get along. That certainly doesnt have a theme of "Go find Love. It is waiting if you Want it". :)

it's inspired by Shakespeare's work in name only, This song was inspired by Mark Knopfler's broken romance with Holly Vincent, who was the leader of the band Holly And The Italians; Holly Vincent was quoted as saying: "What happened was that I had a scene with Mark Knopfler and it got to the point where he couldn't handle it and we split up." so the scene is a public emotional display, not a scene from a play or a movie.

Knopfler felt she used him to boost her career.
