But my common sense tells me, that if I don't care for or love myself, I cannot be of any use to others. Just wanted to put that out there, and thank you for this great perspective in your video!
...for me, growing up catholic and this is probably true of many religions, I was taught from little on that personal suffering for the benefit of others , is almost like a penance...like in a way, God sees your sacrifice and your heart, and will bless your life in one way or another....
And all the while I was being fake to them, fake to myself....I allow them to take advantage of me bc they can and they know they can. That's not healthy at all- I don't know about anyone else reading this, but
I must say, after having read so so so many articles, watched videos, etc on how to say no, I have never given thought (or at least enough thought) as to WHY we should say no....why it's not healthy NOT to. I mean, I've suffered most of my life from letting people run me over (most of the time they weren't even aware that it affected me 'at all') because I guess I got good at faking it (is that too strong a word? Bc really that's what I was doing!)
what you are saying is true, i have taught this too , to others before i watched your video, i am not responsible for others feelings, if they accuse me of making them irritated, its their own fault for being irritated not mine.
99% of all people i have said this to, dont agree with me.
Saying you dont want to hurt someone's feelings is NOT arrogant. It's considerate. The person only assumed they would hurt your feelings not proclaimed it. It's perfectly natural for a considerate person to feel this way. It's a mistake on thier part to assume yes, but it's humble if you think about it. You're twisting the person's intent.
Jesus was a yes person. He never said "no" to the romans...
