MANITOBA CANADA -- The place to Be for Tornadoes and Funnel Clouds in the months of June , July it is the [ hot bed ] of Severe Weather that most people in the World don't know about. I Live here and see many funnel clouds and sum tornadoes every Summer . I see some videos on here from Manitoba of Tornadoes and surprised there's not more.
I live in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, (Which is in Canada if some of you didn't know) And, in the summer time, we're always under Tornado Watch or Tornado Warning, and we always get one, once a year...It's freaky.
@DTRAVELZ Well i am in the process of doing that already its still neads some final touches, it may take awhile due to me working quite abit. but i'm trying. Funny thing is i don't know how i missed that typo in the first place, lol
@xxxRCT3FREAKxxx Well i do know that you get tornadoes, you might have had some major twisters but there rare in that part of the continent, the reason the plains from Texas to Alberta see them so often is the rockies block any interference of any ocean storms, also the way the continent is set up seems to enhance windshear and the flow of clashing air masses over the Plains. On occaision the shear will move to the seaboard but not often.
@xxxRCT3FREAKxxx Tornado Alley isn't a decided location, its just a rough idea of what Storm Chasers have experienced, in all reality In most maps tornado alley is only shown in a few states TX, OK, KS, and NE reason for this is its where most chasers chase based on the convenience of the fact that tornadoes happen in the southern plains in spring when most chasers don't take summer vacations, and also Canada isn't shown cause here most twisters go unreported due to lower Population.
I lives in Wisconsin and we get some pretty nasty storms from time to time. People debate whether or not Green Bay is actually in it. I see your map says it isn't even close. Is this up to date or not?
@jalex11 Yah it is! Every year there is a tornado warning for the most tornado prone areas, southeast Montana. I love there. A tornado happened on June 20, 2010
holy shit i live in saskatchewan and didn't know i lived in tornado alley...for some reason i thought it was in oklahoma and kansas etc... then again we had 3 tornado watches today and it's the first day of summer. I would LUV to see a funnel cloud atleast once in my lifetime :-(
Also this map of tornado alley is the actual full map, but the ones chasers show on tv are the areas that chasers chase more often due to up to date weather instruments in theses areas and where most chasers live.
Yes yall i realize i accidentaly put the the wrong lables on the Dakota's, but everybody makes mistakes, unfortunately i can't redo it cause the file that has this picture is on my other computer which died so unfortunately it will have to be this way until i find some time to redo it.
if you wanna see some real tornadoes move to oklahoma! holy bajebus in the spring all u ever hear wen you turn on your tv is "take cover so and so ur the tornado touched down" ahaah
Well Canada and the USA have Severe weather warning systems in place, homes in the North American Plains are built stronger well newer homes anyways, and we have sirens and storm shelters. We go into the center of houses without basements or shelers and with homes wit basements here in tornado alley we go under the basement stairs.
Tornado alley probably ends approximately at the Weld/Larimer county line, but we get tornadoes even in the mountains now and again. I saw one in the San Luis Valley just west of the Sand Dunes.
Actually yes it does the ppl who drew tornado alley neglected to include canada cause they figure canada doesn't get tornadoes talk to roger hill hill set you straight on that. he even said in his last interveiw that they will be including these provinces. and by the way there is no true location for tornado alley.
That's Tornado Alley for the Midwest... They don't include the Southern Dixie Area's that got it too let alone the Upper North East like Pennsylvannia gettem.
I suppose yall get em too!, but that area is called Dixie Alley because yall get most of them in spring and fall and as for south of Tennessee the winter time too.
I live in Salt Lake City and on August 11, 1999 a tornado went through downtown. The ironic thing was that there was a storm chaser from Kansas in town that day. He said that he was in town for a festival and even though he lived in the middle of tornado alley he had yet to see a tornado. And here he was in Salt Lake City where tornadoes are rare and he gets to see one.
The Tornado Alley Map you displayed is not 100% correct. The map should have included All of Illinois, Indiana, Flordia, All of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, The Carolinas, Southern half of the L.A. basin in California, Western Massachucets, Southern & Central parts of Michigan and Wisconsin along with Ohio, Western Pennslyvania, Western & Northern Kentucky, Southwest New York, West Virgina, Western & Central Tennesee, Most of Virgina, D.C. and Southern Maryland.
wrong meaning what? N and S Dakota are BOTH iconsidered part of Tornado alley. Iowa as well. It's funny though......I'm surprised that by now, Tennessee hasn't been added to the list. It seems like the past 5 years or so have been EXTREMELY destructive there tornado- wise.
Tornado season starts before or after June depending on where you live. In June, Colorado is historically the most tornadically active part of the country.
Why do you say tornado season starts in June? Trust me as a storm chaser, the real "tornado season" starts in early March, peaks in May, and generally ENDS in June.
@TXLH07: Although in states like N. Dakota, Minnesota and Montana{and also Pa. and N.Y., I believe}, the tornado season starts in late May-mid June, and usually goes until early to late September. Correct me if I'm wrong.
And for So. Cal., they do get tornadoes. If ever, though, more often than not between December and February, last time I checked.
No your not wrong, the storm system's Collision Zone starts in late Febuary in South Central Texas and throughout Spring and till the end of Summer it moves north into OK, KS, NE, SD, WY, ND, MT, into Canada's Provinces AB, SK, and MB.
I dont understand why you think there are more watches than warnings. spc watches usually cover very many counties and are issued when a large scale severe weather outbreak is expected. however many isolated summer storms can become severe and become warned and watches usually contain very many warnings
Ah, that's a good point. I didn't realize you were from Canada. I really hope to make it up to Canada to chase some this year. Some of the more "uncharted territory" of storm chasing.
You should have included Illinois. Illinois had a ton of twisters in 2008. My county had 5 Tornado Warnings that year and all of them had at least 1 touchdown.
@one20boyz: I would not be at all surprised if a major tornado outbreak occured this month where I live in northern TX. We've been lucky, but it's going to stop sooner or later.
I have no Alberta was part of Tornado alley I only thought it exsited in the US. Well Im screwed. I am in the Tornado this year........ joy. No wonder we see plenty of funnels this year. None really have touched down though.
NightOwl1224? Where are you in Alberta? Im there too. By edmonton a town by there. Anyways ya we are SCREWED. No wonder we are getting so many freaking Tornado Watches. And my friend syas on her Yahoo thingy it says we are going to get a tornado in Edmonton this year. Alberta is soooooooooooo screwed......... damn it.
and good thing it's not Virginia,NC,NY,and i'm worried about my uncle and his wife and my 2 cousins that live in Texas.but a tornado can happen anywhere.but it's tornado alley.that get the biggest risk of the monster tornadoes.more like mega tornadoes
interesting. i remember in elementary school about ten years ago when we learned about "tornado alley" and it was strictly in the states. I didnt know AB and SK were considered apart of it now. But i'm not surprised really, over the past few years there have been increasing amount of tornado watches, warnings, and touchdowns. way more than i ever remember!
its caz of fucking climbit change, there was only bout 2 or 3 tornado WARNINGS here in alberta bout 10 or 15 years ago, fuck, we had 4 fucking severe thunderstorm watches in one fucking week.

@rebldomakr99 Saskatchewan has lots of tornadoes. A lot probably don't get reported since it's so sparsely populated. Regina actually had 3 of them in 1979 (not to mention the worst one in Canadian history in 1912).

Wow! Now, people who think that this could not happen again in 200 years, they are standing on dangerous grounds literaly and metephoricly. When someone says that, that was just the once and that we don't get tornadoes here often are kidding themselves. this kind of thinking will end up hurting these people in the long run, so people get prepared cause this is part of Tornado Alley.
