  • ERRATUM:

I've received a message from a former member of the Birmingham Uni club, correcting a point in this video:

The club was still running in 1996, when the equipment was a TS-520SE for HF and FT-221R for VHF.

  • Welcome to the world! Risk assessments and Health & Safety gone beserk. That's why we upped sticks from the UK and moved to Australia. 73 - Rob VK2GOM / G0MOH

  • These regulations are incredibly stupid - hopefully they will be lifted as they are ridiculous. Good luck with the future and good luck with the course! Sorry you didnt get the radio club started - the school wouldn't let a tech/comms club start in school for exactly the same reasons - apparently stringing a longwire across a grass pitch is life threatening. It's all to stop lawsuits in the incredibly-rare offchance, but hey, that's life. Down with legistlation, up with sense.

  • Thanks, Eoghan. Yes, it does seem to be a growing trend, sadly; sorry to hear you have suffered as well. It was just frustrating looking at that nice triband beam for four years and not being able to use it. Oh well.

  • sorry to hear you did not get the radio club up and running. it is a shame you are a good radio operator. they have a nice antenna!. 73 (5STARS)
