I remember when Seth came to our club to fence. I had no clue who he was, and after seeing him fence I just assumed he was new, or didn't practice much. Needless to say, when I stepped up and fenced him the final score was something like 15-2 in his favor. It may not be a pretty style, but boy is it effective...
@TiNoS1990 make sure to define between sluggish and technique-wise bad. I watched him today, and he rolled over alot of fast guys. He's sloppy, but fast as. plus its a huge lunge
I'd forgotten how bad a fencer kelysey is. Please dont make an account of all USA epee fencer based on him. Some of can actually fence and do it well.....

Kelsey just looks so awkward.. His footwork is too consistent, giving away his rhythm to Jeannet (who fully takes advantage of that). He's also not bending his knees, which leaves him unprepared for the times when Jeannet's distance just 'magically' closes in on him. The dude's just not able to retreat, let alone, move anywhere with a stance like that.
All of his touches seem to come off of Jeannet's mistakes; not from any prep moves that he makes or body feits
Unfortunately for Kelsey's opponents, they don't award (or take away) points for style. The guy has a very quick hand and great timing. He's a fine Epee fencer, and he certainly gives a good account of himself in this bout.
someone who fences like Kelsey doesn't stand a real chance against someone who fences like Jeannet. Jeannet is on a whole different level.

Seth's arsenal may not be the biggest, but his sense of timing and distance is second to none.

Obviously, he's doing something right if he's at the Olympics.
I'm more disturbed by the screaming banshee in the audience...make it stop.
