i am more of a dagorhir person but i think this looks fun. a few o the rules seem a tad dumb like weapons rules cause dag u can do whatever whenever. it doesnt have as many rules but is still fun
i actually never made a flail. Someone gave me one that worked. I used it for a day and had to give it back. The problem i have is the no rope weapon rule. I make my flails and bolas using rope in insulator foam, and the person leading us wouldn't allow it. Maybe he read the rules wrong. can u help me?
well with dag it is illegal to have rope of any kind because of it being a possible health hazard but the way i did mine was when you do the cloth cover for the ball at the end leave like 7 inch of cloth extra so when you put it on the ball it drapes over. sew cloth around it and attach draping end of cloth to pvc. then put a bit o foam around top of flail near where the cloth "chain" is. make rings of foam and attach to cloth in fairly spaced out increments. check dag boards if that dont help

Everybody pretends and lives in a fantasy world to some extent, whether it's watching or playing sports, or drinking too much, or doing drugs, or playing video games and so on. They do it all because they like it, or they're bored, or they hate their own lives; for whatever reason, it gives the a chance to escape for awhile. What these people do is harmless and enjoyable, and they KNOW it's an escape and embrace it without shame. Why does that get your goat so much?
for one, i understand where these people are coming from, being an avid fantasy/rpg fanatic. but this really is sad. the movie is about a generation of americans raised on hollywood and ideals of "only a hero" counts. people bored with their day to day jobs and looking for something "more" never, ever find it. searching, never finding. just stop searching, and you've found it. no cookie cutter, readymade heroes necessary.
After watching this doc on IFC I've been seriously considering buying some equipment and heading out there for a month or so. This looks like so much fun to me. This is no more than theater performed off-stage. Imagination makes people interesting. I believe something similar was said towards the end of the movie.

Here's what this can potentially teach a person for "real life" - physical coordination, social skills ( for those who were originally shy), leadership ability. It also builds great self esteem for certain people who need it built. Then, they can take it to the real world and assert themselves.

I'd also like to say for those people that have become more withdrawn that it wouldn't matter what they did as a hobby in their lifetime, they would become addicted to anything. The activity itself has nothing to do with it. If it were not for these releases, they would probably attempted harm themselves in some way due to being overly stressed and depressed. But then again, what the fuck do I know, I've just been studying Psychology for a good portion of my life.

I used to make fun of these people till I started dating one. They seem so comfortable in their own skins and it's a fun hobby for them. I actually went to my first Darkon event last weekend and watched my boyfriend die one of the most graceful and acrobatic fake deaths I've ever seen.

Everybody pretends and lives in a fantasy world to some extent, whether it's watching or playing sports, or drinking too much, or doing drugs, or playing video games and so on. They do it all because they like it, or they're bored, or they hate their own lives; for whatever reason, it gives the a chance to escape for awhile. What these people do is harmless and enjoyable, and they KNOW it's an escape and embrace it without shame. Why does that get your goat so much?

for one, i understand where these people are coming from, being an avid fantasy/rpg fanatic. but this really is sad. the movie is about a generation of americans raised on hollywood and ideals of "only a hero" counts. people bored with their day to day jobs and looking for something "more" never, ever find it. searching, never finding. just stop searching, and you've found it. no cookie cutter, readymade heroes necessary.

After watching this doc on IFC I've been seriously considering buying some equipment and heading out there for a month or so. This looks like so much fun to me. This is no more than theater performed off-stage. Imagination makes people interesting. I believe something similar was said towards the end of the movie.
